    Bravo! I did my first solo back in the 80's from that same runway! But I got the full, "taxi in position and hold" so you got to look down the runway and realize you were literally about to take your life into your own hands. You did great - I hope you enjoy flying for very many years to come!

    I was a flight instructor for many years and eventually went on to fly for a major airline. My advice to you is keep flying the airplane as beautifully as you do. As far as mistakes, unfortunately you’ll make some more. Even with 17,000 hours I’ve made mistakes that I’ll take to the grave. Keep up the great work my friend!!!

    Im a flight instructor in so cal, and all I can say is you are a natural. You did more than an exceptional job. You are amazing on the radio, you had perfect control of the airplane at all times, and managed the stress of a first solo with complete grace and confidence. You will be an amazing pilot! Very well done!!

    Very nicely done! the take offs, patterns and landings were all well controlled and precise, the approaches, touch downs, reconfiguration and climb always were all very nicely executed, smooth and controlled, precise runway use and staying centred throughout, nice hold offs once landing the mains, I could not really see anything not too like, handled like a pro!! there is never any shame from making mistakes, the art is realising them and and applying what is learned to eradicate them, good pilots critique their performance even with 20,000 hrs in, happy flying!!!.

    I remember my first solo. The traffic pattern was right traffic and when I looked over to the runway as I entered the downwind, that’s when I noticed the right seat was empty. Most of the time on solo you do things so mechanical to your training that you don’t really comprehend that you’re all alone. It’s the euphoria after you land that you did it that will be the memory forever. Remember, you can’t feel the airplane with a death grip. Max, two finger, like your taking a shot; which you’ll do later on because YOU SOLOED!! LOL!

Seeing what other student Pilots have gone through and hearing the story of Pilots who've already gone through it, helps to keep me motivated as well as giving me some information I'm going to need to know.
    Keep up the good work.👍

    I made my first solo in a Cessna 152 as well ...
    I remember when the controller told me "left hand downwind" when i had done a "right hand" just before with the instructor on board. Dam' !
    And then the (thanks god)scattered clouds appearing in the downwind leg....
    Well... Compass + Horizon came handy.
    I was glad i had some good training and also glad to land.
    My advice : don't be in a rush to get your license in the summer and be without supervision in the winter.
    Either pass the exam in winter Time or take hours with a flight instructor again in winter time.

  • @WeBeGood06
    @WeBeGood06 2 роки тому +1

    You did fantastic. When I soloed, it was in a Cessna 152 and my instructor taught me to land with Full Flaps. I remember how the Airplane Jumped off the runway and climbed so fast without the extra weight of my flight instructor. My first landing was perfect, I added power for the Go part of Touch and Go, and the airplane seemed sluggish. It wasn't accelerating, like I had thrown out an anchor. I looked out the side window and I was 10 feet off the ground and going nowhere. I had forgotten to raise the flaps. So, I kept it pointed down the runway and slowly raised the flaps an increment at a time. I was climbing like a rocket again. The Cessna 152 just didn't climb out of ground effect with full flaps on a hot Texas day. What fun that was. Have fun on the rest of your adventure getting your license.

    • @gravitysdaughtr
      @gravitysdaughtr  2 роки тому

      Thank you! Oh wow! I experienced something similar when the flaps wouldn’t come up after take off in a touch and go. It was startling at first but luckily they eventually came up.

    To this day, I remember sweating the mistake(s) I made on my first solo - in a Cessna 150... Dec 7, 1975 at Cleveland Hopkins Int'l off the (long gone) NW Sod (grass) runway - back when they let us small-fry be based there. On my second landing (three required to full stop), I forgot the carb heat. Yes, in December in Cleveland... Yes, I got away with it, obviously, BUT I still remember making that mistake. That and I was a bit hesitant (probably 20-30 seconds hesitation) on my initial takeoff, to the point where the tower asked me for a radio check to make sure I knew I was cleared for take-off. Hey, I was a 17-yr-old kid, scared out his wits, and was making sure I had everything right! Oh, and back then - NO HEADSETS! Just the scratchy speaker in the wing root by my left ear. To talk, I had to pick up the corded microphone, just like an old-fashioned CB radio. (damn, I'm old... ;) )

It really didn't dawn on me until I took off and no one was in the right seat--then I was nervous but just did everything like I'd been doing it with him there. What I find amazing with you is not only your greased landings but you stayed on centerline each time.     This video showed up in my feed today. My solo will probably be this weekend, so great timing. Your skill AND sense of humor made for a great video. Your keen sense of humor comes through and IMHO that shows calm and composure, both skills important for a pilot. I absolutely loved these moments ;
    @4:03 Other a/c was responding to a traffic call looking for your a/c and said "in sight...he's just about to land" and you commented "she" -- now that shows being calm, full situational awareness and again a wonderful sense of humor.
    @4:11 "Hey yo!" right after your 1st landing; a proud moment that made me smile and laugh.
    @4:38 After your excellent ATC response -- "Shubaluba...7CB". That was hilarious. Indomitable sense of humor.
    @5:18 "Speaking in Greg" That was sooooo funny and relatable as I think many of us students hear our CFIs in our heads all the time.
    I also heard some Spanish in there ("uno mas") so....Muchísimas felicidades, bien hecha y no hay duda que serás una buenísima pilota..

    I really do enjoy watching people on their first solos and things. I remember my first solo like it was yesterday. Mistakes are inevitable but for me the one thing that got me over my fear of mistakes on the radio is knowing they know you're a student, and usually are willing to work with you. Once you get comfortable enough to really have faith in tower and regard them almost as a second pair of eyes, it gets the nerves off a lot of your solo flying. It did for me anyway. @@gravitysdaughtr You did a great job on your first solo with very smooth landings! You probably found the cockpit a bit quieter without your CFI with you. Best wishes for you future aviation achievements.

    Brilliant first solo, you were much calmer than I was! My niece has stated to fly in Florida aged 14, she’ll love your video.

    I’m a little behind you! Do you have your Instrument now? :) I hope to fly my first solo next week. I don’t feel too nervous about it so long as I don’t have an emergency;)

    I wouldn't call myself Gravity's Daughter if I wanted to climb higher, haha :D
    Nevertheless, it's great job you've done, kept it calm! My first solo lasted for only 10 minutes, I mean I survived, it was just one flight by the pattern. I was happy as hell having taken off without my CFI first. An incredible feeling I'll never forget!

    Landings look good. My biggest radio mistake was in response to " are you visual with the Fokker 100 on finals" I'll leave that to your imagination, however there was a lot of giggling in many flight decks around Edinburgh airport at the time... Happy days!

    I was expecting way more of a screw up than a little radio bobble. I still do that kinda stuff!
