I am getting back into painting figurines after 35 years. The stuff available now is just mindblowing compared to when I was young and I am quite bewildered. Thank you for your elegant and informed teaching.
When i came home from the pub twenty years ago, i could always count on Bob Ross on the teli to ease me down before going to sleep.... Now i have you! Enjoyed your video very much, thx man!
I know it's two years later, but thanks for the video. I was wondering how to handle the leather areas on my cultists. So far this has been the best video for me that you did so far.
Hey brother. I have a small business where I do custom leather (Sheaths, belts, and the like). The result here was a great example of Oiled Leather or a worn saddle type leather. I found it VERY convincing and I handle the stuff every day. Well done.
Ithanks for this quick tip. I have to say that although I consider myself a more than decent painter, I haven't heard that you should alternate brush strokes for base coating before. It seems elementary now that I've heard it, but some how had not heard that particular instruction before. So again thanks.
the GW layer paints are supposed to be semi-transparent, while the base paints are designed not to be. If I were to do some mixing to for edge highlighting, I would make sure to mix 2 layer paints... but anything can work. When you were layering on that first coat of brown, it made me remember why I stopped using black as an undercoat. Grey is much better! For everything! At least for me, means way less base coating.
Fantastic tutorial there Kris! It really looks like leather - it has that texture and very authentic look. It is really nice how you use the washes as controlled glazes later on in the process. Top job buddy!
Love this video, looks great. I'll be using some of those tips in future. Personally I normally go for a darker colour when I'm painting leather. Normally use mournfang brown as my base but technique can still stay the same, just alter the colours to suit.
I could use a good painting technique tip for painting camouflage with shades and highlights, fast technique if possible. These painting tutorials are very nice, well done.
I love the fact that your brush hits stuff just like mine! I'm not being sarcastic, that made my day to know that such a talented artist still knicks the hand on his first coat. makes me feel like less of a fuck up when I paint lol
I would really want to know how to look after your brushes properly because on the fine detail brush used there was not a hair out of place, but mine is awful
Very cool tip, like this one alot. I do have to admit that while you're talking during the video I keep expecting you to say there is a happy little leather coat ;)
Hi Chris, this is one of the best tutorials you've. could you show me how to pain white Deathwing terminators(not the GW scheme, but actually "bone white" guys), and how to create the effect of cool shadows and warm colors? (if you want to, I can show my progress with them)
I've heard people mention that you can get great bronzes, golds and coppers by using various colors of silver with inks/shades on top of them. Could you show us some of that?
I think this is good to watch. I'm not sure I can use this using painting battletech models. But I think it is good to learn this. I have been noticing things about these videos. They may come in handy one day.
Can you do a video were you learn how to paint faces on warhammer 40k i would prefer if you did it on space wolf ;) But this is a great video continue whit the good job^^
@@Greg-go8ep Look up Sam Lenz. He's in a lot of Tabletop Minions' videos. A lot of people consider him the Bob Ross of minipainting. He doesn't necessarily sound like Bob, but he does have a soothing voice and is very entertaining to watch.
How about a video concerning painting a stark white skeleton as opposed to the typical yellow bone color? I like my Vampire Counts to look crisp and cartoony!

I would really want to know how to look after your brushes properly because on the fine detail brush used there was not a hair out of place, but mine is awful

Dammit Kris. Stop making everyone look bad.

Thanks for the great leather tutorial! Can you show us how to do a fire effect. For instance, the base of eFeora?
Hey Kris, Have really enjoyed the quick tips and wanted to know how you would create rust effects using the GW typhous corrosion?
