  • Baling first cut hay in our west field and low ground. Tractor is a John Deere 5055D diesel, the baler is a JD 348 with #42 ejector - pulling home made kicker wagons. Enjoy!

I thought I was the only one that kept trying to cram the wagons full till you absolutely can't get anymore on there...😁

HA! I try to pile bales on the wagons until they literally start falling off...😎

That is a pretty setup with a nice-sized tractor and a very clean baler. Nice steel brackets to keep that wagons sides strong. I’m a big fan of steel wagons because mine have to sit outside and the wood doesn’t last. Still have to keep them painted and the bed oiled.

My son and I are discussing as we watch this whether to get accumulator and grapple or go the 42 bale ejector route. Either or would make us more efficient. Hay looking really nice too!

I don’t think anything gets the bales off the field on a small farm faster than a kicker wagon set-up. We are fortunate in that we built a barn that we can pull the wagons into and out of the weather to unload later. That really makes the kicker wagons work for us. Thx for watching...👍

That’s definitely a smooth running baler! I personally like the big square fenders on Deere better then the ones on ours. Looked like a beautiful day!

Man yeah!! You sure have things dialed in!! I really enjoy watching that kicker!! I would have to find one of I was gonna keep growing in the hay side. I plan to keep one good field for now , and reseed and really put some work into it. And hopefully sell to a few repeat customers out of the field!! Your operation is very inspiring, look fwd to seeing what's next!! 👍👍😉😉😁😁🇺🇸🇺🇸

Great video. Everything seemed to be working well. I plan to be starting on my hay too. However, it has been affected by a lack of rain. Hoping/praying for some soon.

Hay making operation functioning like a well-oiled machine! I don't think I'm going to make any squares untill 2nd cutting.

We didn’t make as many first cut squares. Fertilized for a higher yield second cutting.

Nice high capacity baler but only running half capacity.
I run a NH 575 , over 400 bales an hour. Takes a bigger tractor.

I see that you have an applicator on the baler. Where you applying preservative on the hay while you were baling the hay in this video or do you use it during other applications when the conditions are less than ideal for baling. This was an enjoyable video overall and keep up the great work.

Thx for watching. Don’t recall using preservative on this outing. If the moisture goes past 17%, we use it.
