- Since this ship was so requested I decided to make a commentary. Highlighting strengths, weaknesses, specific synergy combinations, whether legendary module is worth it or not and my recommended build. Enjoy.

8:25 just shows how wrong this game has gone now... I'm a giant akizuki fan but since the harugumo came with the 100mm penetration upgrade, the balance BB>DD-in a gunfight doesn't even exist anymore, pls fix this wargaming
Tiago Casquinho well it does exist but only if you either are divisioned off or have good teammates. if you have Cruiser support that don't dare but if you get caught by yourself in a bb you are toast...

Its EVEN better. Flamu responds; "Yeah I'll talk to them"!! Npw is that not the best dialogue ever in World of Warships chat? Bet he feels silly for his nooby comments about BB AP and HE. SO frustrating when you play BB, shoot HE in a ship other than UK BB (sometimes there is good reason) and have the players from both teams accusing you of not knowing what is going on.
Anyone one truly good at Repub or BB in general would never just run AP just for popular vote fuck that ill blow you out of the water if I can but fuck around and ill melt the world!!!!!
@@sorim1967 On the other hand, when I see Yamato shooting HE I wonder. And in this specific case Flamu could have shoot AP on Zao instead of HE on yamato. Would it be better? Idk.
@@alcel24 Because Yamato, with her 460mm turrets, can overmatch 32mm of armor which is the value the Yamatos bow armor has :)
To shoot the Zao he had to either turn his guns or show broadside to the Yamato.. so dealing with the Yamato which was even low on life was the better option :) He handled that correctly imo
@@alcel24 Nah, the Yamato was already on low health, and was a huge threat to him. Forcing the Yamato to go away or die was what he needed to do in order to keep himself alive. Absolutely right call to burn him.

That small clip of the harugumo is the best showcase of why that ship, and the T8 and T9 siblings are broken beyond redemption. No DD in this game has ever had the ability to punch through BB extremities, but those get that ability because of reasons - with ungodly DPM too.
They should revert the change to those 100mm guns. Akizuki was perfectly fine before with 1/6 pen, Kita and Harugumo would be fine without it too.
Right now they're just broken.

Nice review. I love mine and go the exact same build (minus the legendary) and it's one of my highest average damage per game @ 138k. Highly recommend.

Just from the short time ive played this ship in space events it's really good
Short reload and nutty dispersion combined with the speed is enough to carry games

Flamu, what are your thoughts on a secondary based captain build on the République?
I actually ran a complete Secondary Build on the Republique once. It was quite fun in brawling fights. I surprised a lot of BB's with this, especially german BB's, who are supposed to be the best brawlers. But now that i switched to a more tankier built i saw my avg damage go up quite a bit.
I use her HE more often than I do in my Montana against heavily angled BBs, probably due to the reload and dispersion.
Also, I like to brawl French BBs with my IFHE Kurtfurst even though generally I can't use my rear 2 turrets.
Thing is, this Yamato player is watching this video and don't comment. He was referring to the Flamu as his light in the darkness, and suddenly he discover himself as annoying person to laugh at from his favorite youtube WoW channel.
I don't like it, may be he wasn't right, but still, i feel bad for him.
Got what he deserved, perfect example of all these trolls, believing in myths, no actual game sense or understanding of its mechanics. So that's what you deserve for being salty or toxic all the time and he's by far not the only idiot out there, insulting others. So sick of those kind of players, but you of course would not feeld bad for him if he did that ingame in your game... that's some sick logic out there...
Yeah..Jingles does the same thing..better if they blocked the chat and nicknames to keep down the embarrassment..in fact all of the big name CC guys have lambasted all Conq. players till the flies wouldn,t light on them
I never understand people who complain about being spammed HE by enemy BB. Why complain when the enemy is playing the "wrong way"

When dispersion is so low it looks like ONE huge super round from a quad barrel gun. So rediculus looking.
Not sure if flamu mentioned this, the firing angle of the main guns are really good so you can stay relatively angle most of the time
Would Gasgone be a good trainer for this ship as im going up this line now and i have the Richelieu.
Rep is my favorite, love everything especially the reload and the secondaries.
But the secondaries do not pen anything...

Flamu, can you recommend Republique over Bourgogne and/or Alsace over Jean Bart? What choices will you make for yourself between these ships?
Legendary upgrade is pretty good, this ship is all about speed, flank and reload. Not really range, shooting over 20 km still being random.
Finally a ok review of a fr ship.
Percentage helps consistently no matter what your reload is... that’s why it’s a percentage :P

In fairness to the Yamato he allowed flamu to persuade him that HE was the right choice (well except for his last comment) but he gave him a gg. I think he was pissed but knew he had been outplayed

Does the Priority Target skill works when someone is aiming at you with torps?
I tought it only works when someone is aiming you with guns
It works when you are directly targeted, it does not activate if someone is doing a non-lock torp launch. A launch involving either targeting another ship while firing torps at another, or just staying in the torp launch indicator as it does not actually target ships so skilled dd captains usually use this method to keep enemy ships from realizing they are being torped.
As soon as I saw "Republique" in your vids I knew it is your revenge to that Yamato moaner from your Twitter the other day who tells you to complain to Flamu... Well done trolling :-D

Just some extra information on how Republique's and French battleships in general's turtleback works, it is a much sharper angle compared to the German one (my guess is between 70-80 degrees) which unlike German turtleback gives it good protection at long and midrange but the flatter the impact angle gets (usually the closer you are) the easier it is to go through the turtleback without bouncing on it which is the complete inverse to the German one where the steeper the angle the lower the chance of bouncing on the internal turtleback
About the armour... I once managed to devastrike a republic at point blank range with my full secondary build GK. I recorded that moment. You can see it on my channel if you want(totally not promoting myself).....

The secondary build of this ship is the best in the game... using all 4 secondary specific skills/mods you get over 12km range and ability to melt DDs within 20 sec. Brawling in this ship vs even F Der gives you the win. Try it out!
What about a secondary build?

I have one Tier X ship and is Republique , got her by accident getting richelieu from container , and enjoing grind thrue Franch BB line , and I am happy , 523 games played on her , made over 1.8M xp , unlocked legendary mod (sold directly...) , she is citadel magnet (Citadelique) I get few citadel every game , and fires ? , I do not have such problem often I just plan ahead , Republique is made to kill cruisers one hit one citadel minimum , and have exelent secondary with 4 point captain skill , Close Quaters Expert I get often on dd's , I have no complanes , enyoing playing Republique I find my perfect match .

yeah, once my team doesn't have BB that strong enough to take shots, i rushed in to open the "chance" for my yamato and my other cruisers
straight into montana that sailing away and des moines, alaska, and moskva i guess?
yeah they focused on me and forgot that my team still there behind me and other try to flank (fucking tall islands covering enemies)
only i got sunked, but others alive, Montana is sailing too far so we didn't pay attention to them
nice teamwork,,kinda rare to find player that kind read map and situation even in T10

Republique has one of the best "effective belt armor in the game against AP wise".....sadly i guess the tradeoff is having 32mm plating all around. HE food all day

It's surprising that the secondaries are pretty good? m8 it has the longest range secondaries in the game getting out to a max of 12.1 km. The only reason the germans even compare is because of the special HE mechanics. Aside from that the secs on the rep are better than the kurfurst
I main Republique and your right about armor vs Yami but Republique can be Yami biggest nightmare if you Play republique often.if you Main repub you should know that Your HE is op with 48% fire chance you can cit yami so what I do is switch to HE and I put 2 fires on themn then try to hit Cits or if there not broad I will keep melting them ...IMO and honestly im kinda known for Kicking yami's ass I never lose to yami unless im over tired not paying attentions and give yami a broad!

Secondaries are nice, not as great as GK with IFHE but they do work well against DD's and when brawling. But is it worth speccing for it? Questionable.
as a republique main (yes im proud of my mighty baguette)
if you plan on engaging on a brawl, specially with GK which is the worst case scenario, you need to complete some requirements first. the enemy must not have a damage con, hence you need to force him to use his damage con before you get into brawling range, the reason for this is because, republique's secondary is not as strong as GK, but the fire chance is disgusting. even if you don't kill him on that pass-by shoot out, its impossible for the GK to not have 2-3 fires, that alone will hurt GK if you manage to get into cover leaving GK burning, I did this a lot of times and most of those GK users are salty AF because they are always burning to death after our pass-by
Secondaries is never worth it, the horrible dispersion nerf made 2-3 years ago made it not worth, not even for the German BBs
I can confirm that, secondary have become so useless. a german bb can not even hit a dd on 5km distance
Secondaries are only barely worth putting any points into on GK, so I really don't think they're a good idea for the Republique...at least in terms of actual utility. It might be fun to mess around with just for the laughs, though.

Disagree that AR is "less effective at lower reload times". Your DPM will be increased by the same percentage as if you had a long base reload, and DPM is what in the end will dictate how fast you can put the hurt on the enemy.
I wished the Republique could be faster, like 33kts without spood beest and 38kt with it. Since this ship has such little HE resistant.

It depends... 2*2 is safer, since losing one 2 is only half than 100% if you lose a quadra, but angle wise, a quadra can shot anywhere while the 2*2 can block one another

For some reason, I can't ever hit a French BB citadel
The other day in ranked, I landed a citadel on a Jean Bart that was almost entirely nose-in against me, only 9km away though, but i was playing Alsace, so only a 380mm. Really didnt understand how it happened

It's kinda funny to see someone latch onto somewhat good advice without understanding it. "Don't spam HE in your BB" is in general correct, but there's certainly times where HE is the best choice, and a nose-in BB you can't overmatch is a pretty good time to use it. "Never use HE" is about as dumb as "Only use HE".
