Awesome banshee man, I just picked up a 1996 with a blown engine, got my engine off of east coast atv on ebay, 4mm stroked completely gone through for 1500, cant wait till winter to tear it down and build it up the way I want it.
you have one of the best looking banshee's i like the big tires in an back an huge kc lights it looks like a trail beast most guys do the whole dune drag look bike looks sick! an awsome vids keep it up
+Billy Bob Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Billy Bob! We have to drive 6 hours to hit the sand and there are dirt trails everywhere in so it makes sense to keep her setup for dirt. I would love to have another Banshee someday setup just for duning but for now this one is pretty much exactly the way I want her!
+Gneric Nuser thank you! This video is a couple of years old now. I actually just rebuild it again and this is the most recent 2016 banshee 350 rebuild video ua-cam.com/video/esbWJTRFYWQ/v-deo.html
Hey is it common for the case to break where the chain and sprocket is on the case?? I think just about every Banshee I have seen has the case broken in that spot..
Nice shee. Is there any benefit of the timing advance on an otherwise stock machine with pipes and slight port work? Just curious, thought bout on mine
+88fiveoh1 Yes timing advancement increases acceleration and makes it rev faster, people also use them to adjust their timing to match the type of fuel they will be using if they want to run race gas. +4 is considered "safe" with just preimum pump gas. any more than that I would consult with a professional builder
Hey, first off i love your videos gets me pumped up to go riding! My question is that im buying a 1996 banshee that has a 4 mil stroker kit with cool heads ported and polished with tors elim kit and it has dual carb and some other goodies. Im thinking of doing a single carb conversion. Can i use one of the carbs i have on there right now or will i have to buy another one? Also whick kit did you use or did you just build it yourself? Also what stuff should i look for when im buying the banshee? This banshee is not going to be raced just a scrue around bike. Thanks and again i love your videos!
I know at some point the single carb is not enough and you need to go back to dual carbs. I actually got my kit from a guy who was going to a stroker and and was going back to dual carbs again. I would talk to Trinity or Cascade and ask them about what they recommend. I run a single 35mm but i think they sell a 39mm PWK kit and for a stroker bigger is gonna be better. Maybe dual keihin dual pwk carbs might be a better idea for your setup but call trinity or cascade and ask them because they make the kit.

good work noah! I fuckin love your banshee bro! its a work of art and nutter 2 stroke smoker! I was wondering when the vids were comin back, but the wait was all worth while! have ya checked out my crash?
+HOTSAUCE Thanks! It has been a couple of years since this video was recorded. I actually just did another rebuild on the same bike. Checkout this other video I just published ua-cam.com/video/esbWJTRFYWQ/v-deo.html
Sweet, do you think 2,400 is a good price for a used banshee that has had some mods like, cleaned carbuerater, new exhuast etc? what should i look out for, thanks in advance
Depends on exhaust and who cleaned the carb! Banshees can be finicky. My advice would be to start with one that is not all modded out and as close to stock as possible then add what you want to make it your own. The Banshee can be a drag monster or a trail weapon it just depends on what you want in the end.
sweet thanks man, Im planning on driving in open fields and trails also there is a very steep hill that I go to ride do you think it will be able to go up the hil?
+David Almanza No I am running the stock stator but I have switched to a coule of LED light pods that draw less power. The KC lights were okay when you had the engine revved up but if you were just sitting at an idle they would dim down because they had too much draw. KC does make a LED replacement lens for the Daylighter frames I have but they are not cheap.
+David Almanza No you don't need to upgrade your electronics unless you get carried away. Two LED light pods are enough to do most night riding. These are the ones I used, they were about $25 for the pair www.amazon.com/Nilight-1260lm-Driving-Mounting-Bracket/dp/B00G620ZVU
How hard was it for a complete make over? I'm looking to do my first banshee make over i want it stealth black just seeing what problems i would run into..
Honestly bud, she came that way from the previous owner who was actually her second owner and knew little about the mod the original owner had done. The whole thing was pretty exciting to actually see what was inside of this monster I had been riding for 6 months. Why they chose to do +3 instead of go all the way up to +4 as I see a lot of people suggest on the forums is beyond me man.
thanks, just getting some ideas for mine, I owned one 20 years ago, thanks to having kids I had to sell it, but I think they probably went 3 because that used to be the ''popular'' number, it didn't run so hot then, I got the oversized radiator so i'll probably go 4 on mine.
Ah you are probably right. Mine runs cool as a cucumber. Never had overheating problems before. I figured it was so they could still run regular pump gas through it but you could be right.
I actually have a pair of 28mm keihin pwk carbs i have been running too but the 2 into 1 is great for trails. The t5 is a great pipe, i am aware it is intended for top end but does great for me through the whole power curve.
redneck4life887 yeah i want a nice smooth power curve but the 2 into 1 does make the top end pretty flat. Both setups have their advantages. 2 into 1 is better for trails but dual carbs hit harder on the top. Its a trade off. Most of the trails here are rocky and windy as hell so you dont get to go full throttle too often. Love the toomies but never tried anything else. They came with my shee
well I got stomped in the sand with my single carb setup against other banshees with dual carbs, a lot of them were running 110 race fuel though against my pump gas fed banshee. The the throttle response on the bottom end is pretty great for tight trails compared to having a little slop at the bottom as the twin carbs can have. Shee doesnt mind being lugged as bad and revs quick with the single carb. I am still tuning my dual carb setup in but so far the single carb is just plain awesome in the trails here compared to the dual setup.
Geroy Randolph Mine is stock length. I do a lot of trail riding and waterbar jumping, not really much on drag racing so the stock length is perfect for me. With a +2 you would definitely have an advantage off the line in a heads up race though. Mine about flips over backwards if I try a 2nd gear launch
from what I understand, a longer swingarm is mainly to keep the front end down when you are trying to do some drag racing or hill climbing and you are trying to put the power down without flipping it over backwards. if you have that much power and traction going longer is probably good. A shorter swingarm is going to be easier to control when you are drifting around corners and jumping. Seems like most hill climb/drag racers stretch their arms out longer while MX and GNCC style racers go with the stock or shorter swingarms for more of track bike.
depends on a lot of things. can you do the work yourself or do you have a friend like I do who can help you with the labor? does it just need a top end rebuild or are you replacing bottom end ( crank and all )? is the cylinder needing to be bored out or is a light hone good enough ing for this time? are you staying with the stock stroke or going with a stroker rebuild ( longer rod and pistons). porting also costs money if you are planning on having the ports machined to match the stroker pistons. my top and bottom end kit was 599 through inland atv but you can spend upwards of 2k depending on what you want out of it. are you bulding a duner? trail bike? drag monster? gotta ask yourself what you want first.
+Urbancountryboy even powder chips up in the rocks. we ride in a pack sometimes and the front just gets peppered like a shotgun blast. way easier to touch up paint if it does chip. I actually used spray on bedliner for the a arms. thanks for watching. you should checkout my 2016 banshee 350 video too. I just rebuilt the engine again with fresh top and bottom ends
They will last a long time on minimal maintenance bit it is going to be different for each rider. My friend had his for many years before the first rebuild. If you ride hard or race you can damage it like any other quad though
fromthenature I like the single carb setup for trail riding but I have dual 28mm Keihins on the way and am going to try out a dual setup again just to see if I like it more. For riding in the sand dunes I had plenty of power to climb anything but want more top end for drag racing with my buddies because I was getting whooped by some guys who were running the twin carb setup instead.
The spider tracs came off an old Warrior 350 I sold years ago. I haven't been able to find anymore so this year I bought the Kenda Bear Claw 6 ply tires instead. The claws are the closest I could find to the spider tracs.
It's just and old Android phone I had running a speedo app with the GPS. The exact model was an HTC Inspire I believe but I use an old Motorola Droid X2 now. This is a link to the speedo app I use called Ulysse Speedometer play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.binarytoys.speedometer&hl=en
Yeah I do agree but it actually came like that with the fronts chopped or I would have left them on but I actually don't mind it so much though like I thought that I would.
It actually didnt take very long. About two full weekends but a lot of that time was simply clearing a spot in my shop to work. One weekend was for the dis-assembly, prep, and paint and then another weekend was for reassembly and heat cycles. I also did a little bit in between after work each night.
ITP GNCC holeshots on the front, rears I was using a the time were some old ITP Spider Tracs I had laying around from a previous quad. Heavy six ply to stand up to the rocks around here.
pboy5456 oh heck no. i could never live without my banshee that long lol. my honda odyssey 350 rebuild took 2 years to finish but parts were harder to find and more expensive. search for odyssey 350 rebuild
Were you riding a Raptor 125, 250, 350 or 600 700 before? The Banshee is a fire breathing demon and when it hits that powerband you better hold on or she will leave you behind. Its a great quad but it's a two stroke monster that just plain hauls ass and is not recommended for the novice rider.
I think you are gonna like it but its a different feeling for sure. I have mine rigged with a single carb for better low end and throttle response but the twin carb stock setup is a top end machine that likes to be opened up. I dont know what kind of trails you ride but if its loose dirt and long hills the banshee will tear it up :-D
I love my YFZ450 but nothing hits like the Banshee when the twin cylinder stroke starts turning. Not really a track bike but sand is where the banshee really shines. Checkout the Banshee HQ facebook group.
+DOO3racer Temperature gauge. I added it when I went to the ported cylinder and higher compression domes so I could monitor the heat with the extra mods in place especially in the dunes.
I have both setups, one setup is for trail riding (the single carb) the other setup is for the sand (dual carbs). Checkout this video where I show the difference Banshee single carb versus dual carb comparison
respectfully, I would just be happy to have a 450. you should have seen the beat up old dirt bike I had when I was 12 years old bud. I was just happy when it actually ran! show them you can ride the 450 responsibly, take care of it, have pride in it and know that in a few years you can get whatever you want!
Considered it but it gets up to over 100 here in the summer and I like to keep the radiator from getting blocked in front. On the tighter trails its hard to keep air moving through her. Never have had a problem with overheating yet though.
+TrailBlogger and the a arms are 2 inches wider 2 inch forward? Also are the did you go with standard shock length a arms to suit 450 shocks. Im looking at doing similar front end as my ball joints are getting sad.
Cairnsyspook They are an older version of the alba +2 I believe they are a +2 wide and +0 forward. YFZ shocks work great, they are a little longer than the banshee stock pogo sticks and you just have to grind the top mounts out a little to get them to bolt right up.
Awesome banshee man, I just picked up a 1996 with a blown engine, got my engine off of east coast atv on ebay, 4mm stroked completely gone through for 1500, cant wait till winter to tear it down and build it up the way I want it.
She's nice! Gotta love getting your hands dirty when you do a rebuild!

Nice Banshee, so clean ! I'm also rebuilding my top end this weekend 64.25mm. What kind front shocks you got ?
It has Yamaha YFZ450 shocks on it along with +2 A arms. I love the way it handles with them on there.
What is the name of the first song!!! Please!! and also SICK banshee man!
Are you talking about the intro music I play during the first 30 seconds or the guitar background music I switch to around 35 seconds in?
"Maps" by Emancipator is the first song and "Father King" by Emancipator is the second song.
love the video. banshee is sick! how did you like those kc hilights? did you have to do any mods to power to have them installed?
+David Almanza No I am running the stock stator but I have switched to a coule of LED light pods that draw less power. The KC lights were okay when you had the engine revved up but if you were just sitting at an idle they would dim down because they had too much draw. KC does make a LED replacement lens for the Daylighter frames I have but they are not cheap.

yes I do

Came out looking sweet! What did you gain by advancing the timing???
changes power curve. +4 seems to be almost the standard now from what i have read
How hard was it for a complete make over? I'm looking to do my first banshee make over i want it stealth black just seeing what problems i would run into..
it takes some time but it is a good way to get to know your machine before you go hauling ass down the trail trusting your life to it.
How did you paint it
did the +3 mil timing advance help a lot? Im thinking of modding my timing plate 3 or 4 mil
Honestly bud, she came that way from the previous owner who was actually her second owner and knew little about the mod the original owner had done. What exhaust pipes are you running on your banshee ?
them thar be Toomey T5s!
Why are you running a 2 into 1 carb which is a bottom end power gain set up with Toomey T5 pipes that are a top end pipe?
I actually have a pair of 28mm keihin pwk carbs i have been running too but the 2 into 1 is great for trails. The t5 is a great pipe, i am aware it is intended for top end but does great for me through the whole power curve.

Thanks!
Blaise Michna No problem! I just posted the title of both songs in the description so the proper artist will get credit.
I think i just found a new favorite artist Haha
What paint did you use on the frame and where could I get some at plus is the paint still holding up? Thanks
it has held up great. I used VHT engine enamel and it is available at places like Autozone.com
+TrailBlogger okay thx did you also use the vht on the engine
+TrailBlogger one more thing did you also use it on everything else you painted
Henry Lewis yes I used vht on the engine also
TrailBlogger noticed the break time do you live in Oregon
How much is it to rebuild a banshee because I have one and I looked but all the numbers were mixed around
depends on a lot of things. can you do the work yourself or do you have a friend like I do who can help you with the labor? does it just need a top end rebuild or are you replacing bottom end ( crank and all )? is the cylinder needing to be bored out or is a light hone good enough ing for this time? are you staying with the stock stroke or going with a stroker rebuild ( longer rod and pistons). porting also costs money if you are planning on having the ports machined to match the stroker pistons. my top and bottom end kit was 599 through inland atv but you can spend upwards of 2k depending on what you want out of it. are you bulding a duner? trail bike? drag monster? gotta ask yourself what you want first.
What kind of paint/ brand did you use to paint the frame?
vht engine enamel
Nice, it looks powder coated! its clean. What made you choose that over something else, if you dont mind me asking?
+Urbancountryboy even powder chips up in the rocks. we ride in a pack sometimes and the front just gets peppered like a shotgun blast. way easier to touch up paint if it does chip. I actually used spray on bedliner for the a arms. thanks for watching. you should checkout my 2016 banshee 350 video too. I just rebuilt the engine again with fresh top and bottom ends
Urbancountryboy video of the same quad 2 years later, same paint job with very little touch up required ua-cam.com/video/esbWJTRFYWQ/v-deo.html
TrailBlogger did you use any clear cote
What is the aproximatly engine life of this motor?
They will last a long time on minimal maintenance bit it is going to be different for each rider. My friend had his for many years before the first rebuild. If you ride hard or race you can damage it like any other quad though
Is the banshee a lot of work because I hear a lot of maintenance complaints
+AJ Fanelli They require a bit more work than other quads but they are a hell of a lot cheaper to work on and even rebuild then almost all other quads
How works just one carb with Stage IV from trinity? What is the pros and cons?
Pros are: lots of low end torque with better control on tight, narrow trails.
Cons are: less top end power when you are on the throttle wide open.
TrailBlogger Nice and so are you really satified with this work?
fromthenature I like the single carb setup for trail riding but I have dual 28mm Keihins on the way and am going to try out a dual setup again just to see if I like it more. For riding in the sand dunes I had plenty of power to climb anything but want more top end for drag racing with my buddies because I was getting whooped by some guys who were running the twin carb setup instead.
TrailBlogger Nice. I wan't this piece for save more fuel because in my country We got a problem and this that fuel is very expensive
How much this baby man? I love this banshee, respect for you;)👍
Abraham Bojorquez Thank you. This Banshee is not for sale.
what green did you use for your engine ?
VHT engine enamel in grabber green
ok thanks

Yeah I do agree but it actually came like that with the fronts chopped or I would have left them on but I actually don't mind it so much though like I thought that I would.
What did u use to paint your frame ?
It's called VHT or very high temp paint available through Autozone etc...
What's the pipes and exhaust set up?
Toomey T5 pipes and silencers.
How many hours did you spend doing the rebuild?

what kind of handlebars are those?
Those be Renthal bars

Yes I used VHT Engine Enamel Grabber Green
Did u cover the holes for the spark plugs or did you just paint them
I left the old plugs in and put new ones in when I was done rebuilding the motor
Thanks for amswering im rebuilding mine as we speak for duning season

Stock crank I believe
Ok thanks I have one also what's the best carbs to use with big bore
Hey do you have any banshee parts u want to sell
I have a few but what do you need?
Carbs 38 mm
Are those 21s on the fromt
yes they are
ITP GNCC Holeshots
How long did the total rebuild take?
it took me about two weekends to do it.
Oh. Thats not that bad actually. I figured it would be a few months cause most people abandon the project after a few days.
pboy5456 oh heck no. i could never live without my banshee that long lol. my honda odyssey 350 rebuild took 2 years to finish but parts were harder to find and more expensive. search for odyssey 350 rebuild
Ha will do bud :)
i just sold my raptor , thinking about buying a banshee ... is it a great overall machine?:P
I have all kind of trails , sand pits and some awesome tracks where i live ! You convinced me im gonna buy one :D sounds like its awesome
I love my YFZ450 but nothing hits like the Banshee when the twin cylinder stroke starts turning. Not really a track bike but sand is where the banshee really shines. Checkout the Banshee HQ facebook group.
Glad you enjoyed the vids!
Why didn't you polish your t5s
I did about 3 years ago lol. They need some love again I agree
what's the gauge for?
+DOO3racer Temperature gauge. I added it when I went to the ported cylinder and higher compression domes so I could monitor the heat with the extra mods in place especially in the dunes.
That's what I thought I was just a tad confused lol
1 carb ?
I have both setups, one setup is for trail riding (the single carb) the other setup is for the sand (dual carbs). Checkout this video where I show the difference Banshee single carb versus dual carb comparison
ok tanks :P
that sound
music to my ears
amigo adoro yamaha banshee eu estou fazedo uma moto com o motor de um bashee e uma xlx 350
Hi I'm Blake I'm 12 years old but it know how to ride a 450 and I want to get a banshee but my parents won't let me what do I say
respectfully, I would just be happy to have a 450. you should have seen the beat up old dirt bike I had when I was 12 years old bud. I was just happy when it actually ran! show them you can ride the 450 responsibly, take care of it, have pride in it and know that in a few years you can get whatever you want!
Blake Shell Buy one Bring it home say you can’t return lol
Get a custom grille
Considered it but it gets up to over 100 here in the summer and I like to keep the radiator from getting blocked in front. On the tighter trails its hard to keep air moving through her. Never have had a problem with overheating yet though.
yo quiero comprarme una son quien me puede decir
How the fuck do you get your long swing arm bolt out? I yanked that mother, but to no avail
man we spend all weekend one time trying to get the one out of my warrior. heat it up and whack on it
TrailBlogger thanks for the reply, will try that
Caño!!
I WANT
I HATE truck bed coating!!! Too hard to clean
It is very hard to clean truck bed liner I agree, I only did the A arms and carrier in truck bed lining. The rest is a high temp enamel.
Shit an I thought my Rm125 2 stroke was loud.....
+TyTv It's actually louder with the spark arrestor screens out.
Damn...
Nice rebuild love that green Point .
what front shocks are they?
+Cairnsyspook YFZ450
+TrailBlogger and the a arms are 2 inches wider 2 inch forward? Also are the did you go with standard shock length a arms to suit 450 shocks. Im looking at doing similar front end as my ball joints are getting sad.
Cairnsyspook They are an older version of the alba +2 I believe they are a +2 wide and +0 forward. YFZ shocks work great, they are a little longer than the banshee stock pogo sticks and you just have to grind the top mounts out a little to get them to bolt right up.
