Durable? The 2 stroke oil pump fails and breaks the motor. Definitely always run pre mix in the tank. The first time I rode a nice one it punched a hole in the case.
Invest in some flux for when you need to solder(like $10). It will make a huge difference when you need to fix wires like this and prevent a huge blob from builing up as the solder will flow where it should. Flux core solder is ok, but just can't replace stand-alone flux.
Wow again another great video. Amazing patience and dedication to the details of every aspect of your tear down. Joe you have the best UA-cam channel, great job!
Great vid! I recently fixed up a 2001 Yamaha blaster, it’s a fun machine. The frame is a little bent on it but still rides fine. Debating if I should get a new frame or just leave it. 😁
With the heat shrink you can take a small set of needle nose pliers insert them into it and then stretch the heat shrink out large enough to get over the end.
In the video right b4 you took it out, I saw something leaking below the carb. Mine (a 2003) in its stock form has no issue standing up at minimum 1st-3rd gear. Maybe 1st through 4th. I was surprised to not see the front wheels come up. They are great running engines!
The intake gasket tore apart when the reeds were removed. And it looks like a nut is missing from one of the cylinder head studs...? Also you might want to lube that new brake cable. Another good video Joe! Keep them coming!

Great fix again Joe, got compression, got spark, now we need fuel, it`s just that simple to make a combustion enginge run and you have it down to a science my friend. Yeah they do wheelies, they were over powered for there size, you really gotta through your weight around or there very tipsy. Sounds great, it`s well worth a repaint, you can do a nice job with proper prepping and the 2X epoxies today, take care buddy.
Nice and easy fix. Also, get some heat sinks for soldering. Put one at each end so you don't melt in the insulation or damage components when heating the wire. Heat the wire and let the heat from the wire pull the solder in between the strands. Don't melt it with the gun (use the gun to heat the wire). Will make for a better joint. Also, slide the shrink over the wire previous to solder as you learned ;-)
It's quick no doubt!👍 I'm really impressed with the blaster. It's actually the best sounding 2 stroke I've heard on here. And it's no slouch. It goes right to the powervalve 👍🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

We still have our blaster, well its my daughter's. I think its a 2003, last year they made it and it finally had hydraulic brakes on it, finally! Great little 2 smoker...
The fuel filter is for a pump style carb not a gravity fed as is the Blasters. Also there should be a brass or nylon mesh filter on the petcock inside the fuel tank, but the engine will always run out of fuel after a fast run because the bowl is empty. Definitely hanging RPM's so check the base and head gaskets is also a source of air leaks, if that is in fact a bored out cylinder to 73mm you may need to up the jetting or play with the needle up/down a bit, the only way that it would be a 240 is the crank being a +3mm. Pops
I said that many times. He should be using the little screen filters. As those get dirty they starve for fuel. Fuel just won't flow thru as fast as screens. No doubt it has a air leak.
