Thank you Kind Sir 👍👍👍 For your comprehensive assessment and review - clearly an excellent purpose built rifle in the M18 line from Mauser ! Fantastic I say - carry on Sir 👍👍👍 From an old mate Deep Down Under Tasmania Australia 🇦🇺 🇦🇺🇦🇺🦌🦌🦌🦘🦘🦘🦆🦆🦆🐗🐗🐗🐿🐿🐿🐫🐫🐫🦃🦃🦃🐃🐃🐃
Found your channel just today... its amazing.. I watched already several videos and one can tell you are really experienced and touching topics often fall under the table! Great work - keep it coming.
@@chrisparkin431 You just mentioned in one of your videos, that a true alu-chassis makes the rifle ring into your head... NOONE ever told me that... you may saved me 2000€ with that line. 🙏🏻
@@chrisparkin431 Thank you for your clarification. I´m about to "build" my first precision rifle... Its quite a devastated market in Europe... For once - its even tough to get a high quality chassis - and than you are very limited in the choice of action... and than most manufacturers - like my beloved Tikka - dont sell barelled actions... Going for the Norwegian "Vision" chassis ... Its fairly unknown as they do close to no promotion... Have you may ever come in contact with one of their chassis by any chance?
Great review, I’ve watching the M18 for some time with fingers crossed. Just hoping that one of the companies would take this rifle into PR shooting.....
I just wish MDT will bring out a few different chassis’s for the the Mauser and it’s sister Sauer, MDT will not sell this chassis as a aftermarket part :(

I loved your vid on The Mauser M18 Lr chassis, I got one and what is your opinion on the est bullet weight for this rifle,
yeah...same. Do you know the reason why Mauser doesn't sell certain chassis/configurations in the US? No offense to the rest of the world...but the US loves guns the most...and will buy the most guns per capita...so I don't see why their business executives don't want to sell his Long Range Chassis in the US!
how does a rifle like this perform in adverse conditions? i just got a permit and iam considering it as an option but i tend to drag my guns through hell on the way to my hunting ground.
@@chrisparkin431 No idea, its just, at this point who hasn't shot a tikka? It's the standard of smooth actions so I just expected a seasoned gun reviewer of your caliber has had experience with one of the most ubiquitous actions on the planet.🤔
@@richpryor9650 It's often the case when someone start shooting a Mauser to not wanting the Tikka anymore, the action is smoother, it's 60 degres not 90 like Tikka, and other point is the trigger 1 stage from Mauser is just amazing.
well since it moderates sound, seems a good name to most of the UK shooters who use this name. it certainly isn't a silencer although can be a suppressor
I love my Mauser M18. It's designed to be a simple, decent, cost effective crossover rifle that you can hunt and shoot at the range. However, it's not designed as a precision long range rifle. Modifying it with expensive components to make it something it isn't just doesn't make sense to me. Sure, it's great to see it holds up to scrutiny, but I don't think anyone's sticking a 3k Kahles scope on a $500 rifle that's doubled in price with a chassis and entering competitions with it. Surely anyone in that position would be using a fully custom built, or at least a Sako or even a Tikka instead.
I think you underestimate the build quality of Mauser actions. My M18 is in 300 win mag and I can hit 4L milk jugs at 1000m away with the standard synthetic stock. A highly capable rifle in the hands of a good shooter and good handloader.
@@mattb5801 good to hear you don't need to spend the big bucks to get an accurate shooter. Mines in 270 and the only range in my city goes to a max of 500m. You said 4L. Are you Aussie? Canadian?
Thanks for the review. They're a great resource for helping me decide what is best suited to my needs.
surely one of the best reviews on youtube, greetings from germany
Thank you, please share it far and wide! There is a the possibility of two to three guns reviewed like this a month if there is youtube support for it
Love the Mauser M18. I much prefer the GRS Fenris stock though.
Thank you Kind Sir 👍👍👍

I noticed that you swapped the scopes over from minnox to Kahles on the Oryx chassis.
What do you prefer?
Awesome review Chris, Cheers
How about the price? It's a budget chassis with a budget rifle, is it worth the money in your opinion?
2:27 "magazine is a proprietary unit and stacks in a single column",,,, 2:34 shows loading a double stack, double feed mag....?
Thanks Pal, another great review
Wish they offered this configuration in 6.5 PRC in the U.S.

Yeah that looks like a long bolt knob. I still like the rifle, I would like to get it in .308
cheers!

I wouldn't really consider it a hunting rifle
Verygood i from
Thailand
So ..... do you like this or the one in the Fenris chassis better??
I like the chassis better
will a tikka or a sako bolt seize if you slam it like that?
I was looking for a Oryx chassis for the Mauser M18 in 6.5 PRC and they told me they didn't have one. Would this chassis be the same??
So I'm lead to believe
👍
Nice video
How does the bolt lift and smoothness compare to a tikka?
How often do you see me shoot Tikkas 😂
