My one regret with Mauser is that I sold the one that my grandfather returned from WW2 Germany with. He had an officer surrender to him and handed him his Walther and Mauser both engraved. The Mauser shot like a charm, I sold it to buy a Sako L579 in 270 Win, another tremendous rifle. But that Mauser put smiles on just looking at it. Firing it was an honour. Nice review, Mauser and Sako have sweet actions, and deadly accurate to boot.
Looks a solid rifle. You could imagine this being the one rifle you'd reach in the cabinet for whether it was stalking, foxing or just enjoying some good honest time behind the trigger 🙏
How do you find the M18 Burnished coating? I have been debating myself about getting a base plastic stock M18 in 6.5 x 55, I currently have an old M96 with a butchered stock I have been thinking of trading in on the M18. (In Most states in Australia we can trade a rifle for like for like without waiting for a permit to buy) As I live in Tropical Australia I am hesitant about buying non stainless rifles.
Hi Chris I just bought the standard version of this rifle and was wondering what ammunition it liked best ? I do understand that no two rifles are identical but it would be a good place to start from thanks
Both the trigger blade and the mechanism are made of composite. The trigger guard and the magazine are also plastic. In Sauer 100, the trigger is metal. Otherwise that is the same gun coming from the same company group (Blaser).
@@chrisparkin431 yeah it usually costs a bit and requires a gunsmith to do. I live in NZ though so we are known to be living about 30 years behind the world 😅 VERY good news for me so thank you
Hi Chirs. Performance doesnt seem to be as good as your personal Mauser M12 video you posted about 2 weeks ago. I can see a bigger dispersion with this rifle. Why do you think that is? It also looks worse than the M18 Fenris video you did a year ago
No two rifles of identical specification shoot identically and regardless, the ammo is from different batches, different specifications and calibres. That is why manufacturers suggest a tolerance and not an exact group size
Hi Chris, I know that I have asked this before, but, forgive an old fart. What is the cause and how can you correct for bolt handle movement during discharge? Keith.

Lovely gun Chris. Wait for the complaints about laying the rifle upside down on the scope 😂😂.
Looks stunning!
I was gutted when I shouldered the M18 and it didn’t feel right, it was the synthetic with hollow stock, really decent price point .
Great Rifle the Mauser M18 , Great Review Chris 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
Great looking rifle.
Can you confirm that the trigger and trigger housing are made from plastic? Cheers.
Great videos Chris.
Will you be reviewing the Minox RS-4?

I shall ask

Looks to be very similar to a Sauer 100. What would you say are the major differences?
They are practically the same rifle.
I have a Sauer 100. It has a metal trigger housing. (not steel). Everything else shown here seems to be the same.

I used what was seen in the video
With Geco or RWS, it is sub-MOA. With crappy US ammo (almost all are trash), groups around 1.5-2 MOA.

Hello Chris! Is the trigger and bolt shroud made of metal or polymer?
trigger steel, bolt/shroud polymer

A bedding job could also improve accuracy
The 223 here in Australia anyway has a single stack magazine and will not top load through the rifle

American ammo never shoots well in my rifles. I use mainly Geco as it is accurate, but affordable.
