I am a retired geologist and spent 92-94 doing mapping related to geology in said area. Best time of my life!!! I found your channel via videos related to music from the 70’s and love those videos too!!!
I used to hear the term "God's Country" and I never knew where that was until I started going up there in the early 90's with my father in law on fishing trips (I hiked he fished). I can't think of a more beautiful place in California. Thanks for the comment!
True definition of picture perfect these views are. Working 2 jobs right now don't have time for hiking but can make the time for your videos which are the next best thing.🙂👍 Thank you.
Hi Tim! Wow.....this was just beautiful! I had to enlarge my screen! Looked like a National Geographic magazine! The views were breath taking! I loved seeing you out with your family, cool! Loved the Bob Marley shirt! Nice seeing Jet the Wonder Dog, too! This was awesome! I have to visit this place! Thanks for sharing....you always hike at the best places! Be safe and God bless!
With all our problems I still think we live in the most beautiful state in the country. Its nice to be able to take advantage of it every one in awhile. You be safe too. Peace.
Again, very enjoyable video! I remember we took our dog June with us on one of these hikes. She chose to stay in the water most of the time, being a Black Lab, and all. Later that week her tail lost all ability to function! Seems Black Labs our prone to "Limber Tail", a loss of the use of the tail brought on by wading in cold water! Be advised.
Hi Tim - just watching your older videos while waiting for new content! Are u working on some new videos? Keep in mind that some of us just like to hear you talk - Aussies love the American accent. Take care and hope you are well.
Hey there. We are working on a rather involved R&R LA tour featuring the fab four right now but its gonna take a bit more time to finish. Thanks for commenting!
@@RockessentialTim oh - excellent - looking forward to that. Take your time as this is your legacy. A time capsule stored for ever, if u will... best wishes. i think there is a macartney LA hills pad not many have covered...near Carrie Fischer house.
Hunewill Lake, probably the most difficult hike in the area. The trail head used to start much higher up with adequate parking, but in the late 80's the road to get there washed out. The USFS blocked the road and it is difficult without 4x4. Trail is not marked in places, and there are about two or three creek crossings to get there. The last portion of the hike is "rock hopping" before getting to the lake. Impressive views, very high altitude (equal to upper Virginia lakes) which sadly is no longer a simple day hike trip but definitely warrants mention. Also, Buckeye canyon north of Twin Lakes is a good walk.
I've seen Hunewill Lake on the maps but I've never looked into it, so thanks. Have you ever done any hiking near Levitt Falls? It looks really cool but I don't know if its accessible.
@@RockessentialTim Hunewill lake is one of the few high sierra alpine lakes that had bright azure blue water, like those in Canada. I've done Levitt meadows but from the west side. It's "a hike". You showed some great first ventures for this area! Big thumbs up!
@@workingstiff63 Thanks! I go with my family every June but alas, this year no. We've had a cabin for a week at Doc & Al's for the last 40 years and the Forest service pulled their lease. One door closes and I'm waiting for the other one to reveal itself!
Some great looking trails. I really want to get over in that area and do some exploring. Do you find that the Elevation gets to you much? I have been doing some hikes at about 8300 ft and getting used to it. Someone just mentioned to me hiking in your area is much tougher. All of these are really beautiful thank you for sharing. I write down Green Lake Trail and Barney lake Trail to try out first.
The elevation won't faze you. When you hike these trails you are literally looking at the backside of Yosemite. Not as heavily wooded as the Tahoe area but pretty awesome.
You Sir, just got yourself another subscriber
Thanks. I can't wait to get back to the Eastern Sierra next spring!

The weather out there is fantastic the summer. Take advantage of it and walk!

Thank you 🤗
You really should try Big Pine Lakes Trail, Little Lakes Valley Trail/Mono Pass Trail, and Mammoth Crest & Crystal Lake.
I've done Crystal Lake but thanks for the suggestions. I am trying to get up there again before winter and will check these out. Thanks!
such beautiful hike 👍
It was!
Nice hikes. I still need to do some of those in the future. There are so many in the Eastern Sierra.
Saw an awesome waterfall in the distance off of Green Lake. To far for me to day hike though.
Hiking4Life yeah that one is on my list. :)

It looks beautiful out there and the dog is so cute.. is the dog a lab mix?
It is wonderful up there and I will be back in June. My dog Jet is a pIt mix, but he thinks he's a lab!
I need to hit some of this trails , have you hike to a thousand island lakes yet ?
No. Where is it? Am planning on doing some June Lakes Loop hikes this year.
Thousand Island Lake is a large alpine lake in the Sierra Nevada, within the Ansel Adams Wilderness in eastern Madera County, California.
We are going to Mt. Whitney tomorrow, going on 395 from Hesperus. Hopefully we can do one of these hikes.
I don't think you are going far enough north but Mt. Whitney has hundreds of great trails! Have fun and be safe.
To fishermen they are called rods, not poles, poles are what Huck Finn used, a piece of bamboo with a string tied to the end
Thanks for the clarification and thanks for watching. I guess I'll just have to stick to hiking. The fishing vernacular seems a tad complicated!
So close to Bodie.
Its just a really great part of California. Love it.
