I have been watching for a year now, I joined my local lapidary club back then. Thanks Soham for all your precision videos, wonderful spirit of generosity, all the best and I will still be watching. Hope to take some of the paid classes eventually as well, Julie
Soham, you have been my inspiration to finally get youtube. Thank you for all your wonderful free classes. Can't say how much you help people, thank you thank you..
Hello, I'm a big fan of your videos. They are amazing. I have a question. I have noticed that you use Orcha torch. Are you happy with this torch and can small jobs be done with it? Thank you.
Today I was trying to make a spinner ring. First ring soldered fine, second one took a good bit of time trying to solder. Solder would not flow. Why is that it will flow and other times it won't? I am using a hand held butane mini torch? First ring split at the solder line when I tried to spread an edge. So I will try again tomorrow.
+Gertrude Sever switch to medium, or easy solder. the torch you are using is a bit small.the larger the piece the longer it takes to come up to temperature.
Soham, Thank you for your videos I so enjoy them. I have a question for you that I hope you can answer for me. I have bezel set a couple of stones that I would like to join together with jump rings. If I solder the jump ring before I set the stone, wont the jump ring get in the way of pushing the bezel over the stone? Or should I pack the stone in cool wet paper towels and then solder the ring on? Can you advise me please. Thank you
Hello, Soham I've been been watching you video's for years, you have really helped me through out the jewelry making quest. On this video you stated that don't worry about the width unless it's more than 10 mm what would you do different if it was more than 10 mm wide for sizing? Thank you
Hi Soham, just wondering, do you always dip your work in a mix of metho and boracic acid? I am having problems with fire scale. I have that mix made up and I stir the mix, dip my 925 piece in and then set it alight to create that barrier but I still seem to have firescale on it. Have I got the right mix? I did watch your video on it before I bought the ingredients. Had to buy the boracic online as no one in town stocks it anymore. Thank you! -Kim
+Applesmith03 the metho and boric acid works pretty well, but the firescoff from rio grande works better. sometimes i have to coat the piece 2 or 3 times to get full coverage.
+Applesmith03 look up Prip's Flux. You can make it at home very easily. It works a lot better for me. The thicker the coating the better. That applies to both mixes.
What a pleasure to watch. No unnecessary talking straight to the pount in every detail of the lesson, brilliant Soham.
Soham, I hope you realize that the knowledge you share is very much appreciated!
Your voice is very calming. Thank you for this video.

Awesome video I can't help posting this I'm sorry... We should never use our vernier calibrators to score lines in metal 🙄

+stormy do everything before you set the stones. when you solder something to a bezel be sure you leave enough metal to push over the stone.
+soham harrison Thank you Soham, will do. Again, so enjoy your videos, have learned much, and love hearing your pet bird in the background. :)
the birds you hear are wild magpies. my animal of choice is a manx cat whose name is Edi
Very nice :) Did as you said, and worked perfectly.
Ok maybe I am slow,or just missing something. But where do I find the height of said rin
Measure the wire you are using to get the height. He shows it in several of his videos. :)

make it slightly bigger to get over the knuckle
hi! great video as always! when you say the height of the wire is 1.7, do you mean the thickness?
