6:05 It looks as if you are dancing together! I just loved it when Simon said he couldn't read the label and wasn't going to try on camera, in the most natural way. I have just watched a master craftsman blow so many prejudices out of the water. He has just done more for people's confidence than he will ever know! Simon, I take my hat off to you! You are the "Acorn to Arabella" of the UK! Emilia and young Patrick are real grafters, aren't they? One of the best episodes yet. I so love your good Liverpudlian humour!
Hi Nick, what a lovely comment, I never think of what we say can have an impact on people in a positive way like this, we are just brutally honest, and we are always just honest, and show you exactly who we are, there are to many people online who make themselves out to perfect, but that is not real! We are just normal people, like everyone else, we will make mistakes and f**k up just like anyone else, there is no such thing as a perfect human! We hope we can continue to help people and inspire! Xx
One of the wisest and most talented person that ever traveled the face of this Earth was asked,How are so accomplished in everything you do? The answer was, I could never read very well,so I had to learn how to use my ability to think.
Time to comment! Simon, Gemma, to say that I love how you guys operate would be an understatement! All I can give you is my respect and love of your tenacious attitudes. I'm sure you both have your moments of dissapointment and your days of hardship. So I watch episodes two or three times to get it all soaked up. I have a question.., I have not seen a new episode for this present time. Are there more coming? Is everything ok? I am hoping to see you guys sail the boat to a wharf or a Marina so you can be more comfortable working to finish the boat! I hope that this not an offensive question. And I may be impatient to wait and see. In any case, so far I have enjoyed your company in my home and hope for more videos. Thank you so much for sharing what you have wrought so far, love and much respect to both of you, ❤ John.
I’m glad the camera fell. We got those great shots of an English summer sky. I love how Gemma is excited and enthusiastic about everything. No one could be depressed around her.
You have come quite a long way from your first episode on this boat, the restored parts of the boat make the unrestored parts look so much worse! But you've already tackled so many pieces I would have thought impossible to restore, and yet here you are, solid hull, solid roof, etc. Well done all around, both of you.
It is beautiful folks. It is becoming a ship again with all the beautiful lines now being defined again. Great work and to have so many helper friends is a bonus. Keep smiling be good be safe see you next week.
What a fantastic episode, it's truly incredible the progress and shes looking fantastic, it's all down too a brilliant team working together as on big family, congratulations everyone on your wonderful work. X
I've said this more than once You were so so fortunate to have gotten that boat especially finding her is such good shape yes, there were lots of stringers and frames that needed to be replaced but at least the majority of the planks look like their in amazing condition which is fantastic news. No greater couple deserves the honor of restoring this ship than you two as far as I'm concerned..So I'll say it again Congrats.
Any couple who has this kind of tenacity to start and finish this large of a project...deserves all of the love, luck and perfection that they can get. I wish your family all 3! Love...from the U.S.
Watching this again a year later. I absolutely love those integrated masks and goggles. Perfect for grinding off lead paint. I always struggle with steamed up glasses. I wonder if these will solve that problems.
The boat’s looking great on video, I’ll have to take the dog to Heswall Fields over the weekend and have a nose from a distance. Great job everyone. I just have to say that Gemma and Simon are so good talking to camera, it really feels like you are chatting directly to us. It’s a skill and there are many UA-cam channels who are nowhere near as good as you guys. Nice one.
I did this and I thought 3 metres away would be okay, set off the alarm! but once I was back in signal land on the bus home I apologized hehe. TBH I didn't have time to commit to another boat building channel as I'm already subscribed to a bunch. The possibility that I could actually see one in real life was too much to ignore. That and it's a right laugh here.
Been watching your videos from the start. You are doing a wonderful job. Wish I could come over from the USA to pitch in for a week or two. I'm a 71 year old retiree former sailor ( worked on an Aircraft Carrier back on 1970). Good luck with your future plans , I'll be watching and cheering you on.
Hi Gemma and Simon. I have just finished "binge watching" all episodes of "Ship Happens" and you are doing a FANTASTIC job on the restoration Your attention to detail and workmanship is outstanding and you should be very proud of what you have achieved thus far You are wonderful people and I look forward to further episodes as you progress Thanks for sharing your journey with us and congratulations Love from us in Western Australia Trevor
What a great "progress video".... Rub rail down has really transformed! Beautiful work. Can't wait to see you tear into the topside. I just love how you're taking a piece of WWII history and breathing new life into it... Great job, keep it up!
Hey there you two! Hope that many people appreciate your dedication and tenacity to be so dilligent to the Passion you Both have towards a monumental task! A while back you mentioned that a Boatyard would not haul your boat with a travel lift. I would recommend that you find a Railway to haul your vessel for the First Time if it's Available. By doing so,it's easier on the hull as your keel will be supported for the length of the vessel and the best way to make your determination as to how the integrity as a whole is! From there you will be able to assess the keel and supporting ribs etc. Your videos showing how much you have done internally Surely have helped, and you both have decided to do the same throughout. Wish I were closer and able to assist you and recommend procedures as you go forward. I can only comment by what I can visualize via your videos. The inspiration shared by the two of you is out Refreshing! A couple on the Same Page with regard to Life Altering Decisions. God Bless You and yours! Great Job.
Whose this cheeky STAv person paintin smile-ies on Sarinda? Give'm some sand paper and a section to complete BEFORE they get lunch! Welcome back Robbo! ✋[hi 5]. Like the shirt. Nice goin Patrick! 👊[fist bump]. Nice 1 m8s, thanks.
IV been around dry docks and seen ships come and for 12yrs.......what your doing and more where your doing it and the type and age of the vessel is fantastic, hats off to you guysb and (guyets) What do some folk expect.......QE2 in 3weekd!!!!!!!
As usual great combination of video & audio! Major milestone to see underwater primer go on! Very nice to “involve” audience with “can you feel how smooth that is ?” Unfortunately Wurth is not common here in North America. Yes very nice to see wooden pallets (USA?). and green mesh to overcome mud and keep ground clean! Only concern I have is ear protection for younger workers- you all are younger than I am!
You have. WONDERFUL Bride! Love the Handbag! And she will probably look for sandpaper and a scraper and a few tools for the next process! A thrifty woman! Spend it on the Boat
Ya'll need help!!!!!! Your kids will remember Ya'll as the parents who worked on a boat in the mud but never went anywhere......despite that I admire your tenacity.
I have a smile on my face the entire episode. Watching from Australia. My father started to built a boat when I was 6. We built it together and I grew up and lived on boats for many years. So lovely to see u guys give so much love to this beautiful old girl. She has some beautiful lines. Eagerly awaiting the maiden voyage but relishing the journey. Your documentation of this process will be treasured by your kids.
You guys are doing a fantastic job! I just wish I could help, as an aircraft and Helicopter Engineer here in New Zealand I have so many skills I could provide from engineering right through to Spray Painting, electrical and most others things! We spent 6 weeks touring the uk a few years ago and I’d love to come back and include a weeks work helping you guys, you deserve all the support in the world! Keep up the great work!
The work on the hull is coming along nicely. Seeing a close up of the exhaust it looks like at one point there were louvers to direct the exhaust down.
It's amazing where people come from and different jobs to help bring an old boat looking nice again, the kids that come with there parent's that will never go near a boat in there young life
Gemma, those are polycarbide discs. They're brilliant at getting paint off without damaging the surface underneath. Was the shopping spree "Wurth" it? lol
Hello friends, I don't really understand your work, you filled and re-sealed each board, very well, but you re-sanded all the wood with the gray layer that you had already put on some time ago. ..!! of course the rest of this coat fills in all the gaps and small holes, and veins, it becomes smoother...but it's still a lot of work, to redo a new coat of paint...; followed by the others which will come on it... well done, it's true that it will give a very smooth and clean hull finish... but it's not the one that is under water...!! Good luck for the rest, it's a pleasure to watch you, and with the automatic translation in subtitles, we don't miss anything...!! the French are not very good at learning a language other than their own...!!
I want to let you know why I love your channel! In the mid to late seventies, my dad has his boat at St.katherines dock in London and we got to know a guy that has a ASR whale back boat! I had a look on board and it was fantastic and this is why I enjoy your clips as you are preserving a bit of history! Well done to you and all the wonderful gang of helpers you have! 😉😊👏👏👏👏👏🤙🤙
Hey peeps. I really enjoyed that film. I loved the music you had playing while you were both in frame sanding the hull. It was nice to see Amelia again. The pics that Simon took of the bow are amazing.. the bow is rather formidable isn’t it. Love you all.
God you two work hard!!! Your dedication is so admirable and you two and your tribe deserve all accolades possible for what you have done for the old girl. Love your vlogs every week - thank you for bringing your journey to us, well done! x
Instead of a tripod for camera, you might try making a pole stand...essentially, a heavy flat plate of the base that has enough weight & size to be sturdy & an attached telescoping pipe with a camera mount on top. The sturdy base keeps it from falling over as easily in the wind or when jostled and keeps you from falling over the tripod legs. You guys do have a bit different situation with the mud...Never seen one with holes in the base, so you could insert & remove long tent pegs to make it even more sturdy in the mud, but might it help in the serious mud you have. Possibly, you can buy them, but since you are quite handy....!
understandable the exhaust is "box" shaped. If that have to be removed-repaired. I would replace it with half cylinder shaped. makes future sanding and repaint job far easier.
Simon, some day I would like to hear how you and Gemma got together. Gemma is by far the most delightful woman. I am sure you consider yourself one of the luckiest men on the planet.
Well done you are doing an amazing job. Take no notice of the idiots. They are just jealous. Can't believe how much work you have managed to do. You should be so proud. Sending you Blessings XXX
Can't believe people are so picky and always judging great job filming and what you thank you for your time and effort I look forward to Friday's
That's the shoulda woulda coulda tribe that never "actually" do anything but are first to tell you're not doing it right!
Some people are always cup 1/4 full. All they ever see is problems They hate people who get things done.
I agree with you, what a couple they are. They are working towards their dream. They're a joy to watch and listen to

Amazed at the support- Great friends. Good job done and in an estuary. Some of us struggle in a boatyard. Brilliant work.
Matching hoodies, matching masks, matching grinders... that's true love right there! Best wishes guys!
I’m glad the camera fell. We got those great shots of an English summer sky.
I love how Gemma is excited and enthusiastic about everything. No one could be depressed around her.
You haven't seen the worst of me yet 😂😂
It’s looking good…
Well done everybody, and a huge thanks to Robbo, Lee, Paddy & young Patrick who do so so much to bring the project on
We are so lucky to have such an awesome team

It’s so wonderful to see a couple who share the same dream. Have a great week! ❤️
The couple that sand a boat hull together stay together. Each episode reinforces that you two are made for each other and make such a terrific team.❤❤
A monumental task. Congratulations on your ongoing restoration. Well done.

I wonder , did they find this ship or did this ship find them ?
Thanks 😊 one day we will achieve our goal and set sail! Then all the hard work will be worth it!
She's over 80 years old.....hell....I'm 60 and a few of my support structures are rotten....lol
Just another great day in the Mud. Looks like such fun. Sarinda is looking less like an orphan and more like a child that is being cared for.
Old pallets are an amazing resource. I love them. The real beauty of them is they're often free!
Well done guys! Getting there slowly but surly.
Any couple who has this kind of tenacity to start and finish this large of a project...deserves all of the love, luck and perfection that they can get. I wish your family all 3! Love...from the U.S.

It was lovely around 6.04 when you started working together! A lot of jobs like that are sooo much easier with two!!!
Blessings to you all.
I love you guys, this channel has become an addiction.

Proud of you! I'm American and I don't understand you half the time but what great cooperation and attitudes!
The best content.. great to see the next generation involved.. great filming..
The paint scraper was a great tip for me. I am restoring a boat as well and the old paint has to go. Thanks again and be well.
Ya'll need help!!!!!! Your kids will remember Ya'll as the parents who worked on a boat in the mud but never went anywhere......despite that I admire your tenacity.
Your enthusiasm is fantastic, l look forward to watching the updates and you are coming along in leaps and bounds.

Love Gemma I love Home Depot a lot more than bed, bath and beyond. My 10th wedding anniversary I asked for a band saw.
The work on the hull is coming along nicely. Seeing a close up of the exhaust it looks like at one point there were louvers to direct the exhaust down.
What a beautiful boat she is, with all the love and care you are giving her, it is so heart warming to see!!
It's amazing where people come from and different jobs to help bring an old boat looking nice again, the kids that come with there parent's that will never go near a boat in there young life
Boats looking great guys , can't wait to see the next one
Simon she's starting to look really well ! You have both done sooooo much !
Quite a challenge and you all are handling it well... Keep on, Keepin On!
The family that grinds together stays together.
Gemma, those are polycarbide discs. They're brilliant at getting paint off without damaging the surface underneath. Was the shopping spree "Wurth" it? lol

She is looking lovely
Your boats a cracker. It’ll look amazing when you’ve finished with it. I’d love one like it.
She is shaping up beautifully! All of that prep work is exceptional and it will all show in the end! GREAT job to all of you!!
You two have SUCH dedication and discipline. Really inspiring to watch you carving this floating Mt Rushmore!
Hey - you are always so positive, hang on fulfilling your dream projekt, love to follow you every week. Love from Kim in Denmark.
Love your vlogs every week - thank you for bringing your journey to us, well done! x
Great fella Robbo, used to work with him for a while, smashing fella and all round good egg 👍🏻
Now then Sepho, don't tell fibs 🙃
Ok mate, I used to attend a place where you used to work🤣🤣🤣 Your such a Princess 🤣🤣 hope your well big fella 👍🏻💙🏆
Another great episode. Congratulations team,
Put a handle on those rollers. Enjoy the easiest way to roll paint. Two hands are better than one hand.
Awesome 👍
Great!
You are looking better and better.
God bless you all.
You inspired me to paint my new calipers and rotors on my jeep. Watching you two work away and your patience with your projects just did it.
Looking fantastic....
Hello from Florida🌴🐊 I love your determination in saving this piece of history. Your doing a great job! I wish you all much success!🥰
Instead of a tripod for camera, you might try making a pole stand...essentially, a heavy flat plate of the base that has enough weight & size to be sturdy & an attached telescoping pipe with a camera mount on top. understandable the exhaust is "box" shaped. If that have to be removed-repaired. I would replace it with half cylinder shaped. makes future sanding and repaint job far easier.
Wurth. Now I know where my patreon donation is going.
Looking wonderful! Little by little by little but it's all in the right direction.
Simon, some day I would like to hear how you and Gemma got together. Gemma is by far the most delightful woman. I am sure you consider yourself one of the luckiest men on the planet.
Fantastic job well done guys.
