That would be considered a short barreled rifle in the US. ARs with barrels under 16inches are considered pistols unless you get a tax stamp for an SBR. Until you get a tax stamp you must have a pistol brace not a stock. A stock makes it a SBR and therefore is illegal until a tax stamp is obtained.
Side note, 30-06 is the same size bullet as .308. It has a larger case and can fit a heavier bullet than 308. For all intents and purposes, it's pretty much the same.

I’m sure I’m late to write this comment but… What if you go to a developed country, like Spain or Germany, where the weapons regulations are very strict? How would you import your automatic weapons for a security contract?
I’m no expert but one of 2 things would be true. If you are working with the German government and they deal with the shipping on their end, but the reality is that Europe has access to several military contractor agencies in house so why deal with the extra paperwork.
I remember when i did security had to register my firearm with the police when we did our training the guns we could use were pistol or revolver or shotgun for curiour . We had to also have training and certs

Non starter as a felon. Prohibited person. Perhaps he can get his rights restored if he follows the process but that felony record I could still bar him from opportunities anyway. If you’re willing to be a little shady and essentially go adventuring around combat zones you eventually will meet professional wandering warriors. If you are competent enough and they like you enough you can end up invited to try out for the company or perhaps come along with them to the next fight. This is becoming extremely difficult as the PMC world has been growing increasingly corporate and bureaucratic over the past 15 years. You will not be working glam jobs like standing around with a cool gun in some Middle Eastern green zone, nobody will give you a sweetheart contract to look tough and babysit locals for six figures, you will be doing the real nasty stuff and the dirty fighting for a lot less. Often time your employer will be some faction or local strongman who is much more worried about getting butts in BDUs than anything else. Learn Russian, lots of opportunities with that language.
That’s not considered a pistol in the USA. That’s considered a SBR (Short Barrel rifle). If it had a brace on it, then it would be considered a pistol. But that does not, so it wouldn’t be considered a pistol. It would be a SBR

Get training and prior service if you want to get good contracts. Look up a few corps and llcs. Then, go apply.
Non starter as a felon. Prohibited person. Perhaps he can get his rights restored if he follows the process but that felony record I could still bar him from opportunities anyway.
If you’re willing to be a little shady and essentially go adventuring around combat zones you eventually will meet professional wandering warriors. If you are competent enough and they like you enough you can end up invited to try out for the company or perhaps come along with them to the next fight. This is becoming extremely difficult as the PMC world has been growing increasingly corporate and bureaucratic over the past 15 years.
You will not be working glam jobs like standing around with a cool gun in some Middle Eastern green zone, nobody will give you a sweetheart contract to look tough and babysit locals for six figures, you will be doing the real nasty stuff and the dirty fighting for a lot less.
Often time your employer will be some faction or local strongman who is much more worried about getting butts in BDUs than anything else.
Learn Russian, lots of opportunities with that language.

That’s not considered a pistol in the USA. That’s considered a SBR (Short Barrel rifle). If it had a brace on it, then it would be considered a pistol. But that does not, so it wouldn’t be considered a pistol. It would be a SBR
The upper is a pistol upper. Becomes an SBR once you put it on a lower but as these are Frankenstein builds they have pistol uppers.
