Michael Cimino is one of the most nicest, kindest, creative, Fun intelligent man any one can ever meet! he is the greatest friend a girl can ever have. I have also seen that he is very caring about friends and very respectful. He is most creative genius who makes, writes and produces magical movies so please LOVE him and hold your judgement! I think he looks Great!
I dont know about that.. But I agree he gets way more hate than deserved. His career post-Deer Hunter did not deserve what happened to it. I mean The Deer Hunter is one of the best movies ever made.. So recreating another movie on that level is impossible... But fucking greedy, selfish critics and film 'fans' get pissed off anyway if they dont feel someones next movie does not live up to there last. So yeah. He deserves MAJOR praise on The Deer Hunter.. And alot of his other work.
Yeah, kind of a shame to be spouting this pro commie/let's live like the Indians bullshit from cimino. I'm surprised, not only because he's a smart and a creative person and I never thought he'd go for that, but many times he has expressed opinions that were very much against the leftist dogma, like when he criticized Hanoi jane for calling deer hunter fascist, when it was he who was actually in touch with the soldiers and their story, whereas Fonda's movie coming home was sanctimonious crap from someone who didn't give two fucks about the soldiers. This was both disappointing and surprising.
"Sunchaser" (Cimino's last movie) was a flop and according to IMDB more substantially than H.G. "Man's Fate" is still in development hell. Maybe he should go back to making commercials like he did in his salad days.
But hes definitely not the great film maker ever.. And hes not really a good person either. He is extremely egotistical. and I think he was probably more hyped off his own movie ( Deer Hunter ) than anyone else. So even though I dont think he deserves all the hate after that film... that doesent mean he dident act like a piece of shit. He walked around like he was god. Treated co-workers like shit. Lied all the time. So yeah. He doesent deserve so much hate. But he is still a piece of shit.
