    As a guy who frequents this stretch of I-8 every year( I drive right past Pilot Knob), I cant recommend enough taking hwy 95 in Yuma North approx 25 miles to Martinez lake road and heading down to the River.You can boon dock for 100 month( w/out hookups).Beautiful! Walk 2 minutes to the lagoon at Fishers landing, which also has a store, supplies, a bar and Restaurant, etc. and lots of great people. They also have a dump station, showers, etc. Plus the best fishing in Arizona a 2 minute walk from your RV. A 10 minute walk down another road leads you too another store and restaurant.Very quiet in the winter and nothing but sunshine. Jan and Feb are my two favorite months. safe travels out there!

    If you mount those lights with adhesive velcro you can move them around without drilling holes all over, the 3M brand is the best.

    Found your channel yesterday, looking for some RV how to's. I am hooked, and cannot stop watching. I have never looked at the youtube comments till now, much less contributed. Eric, you are living the dream. Don't change a thing. Also, had no idea that social media 'haters' existed. Really? this is also new to me. Can't believe there are really people out there that watch UA-cam, and become obsessively hateful with people making the videos. That is beyond weird, and frankly scary.

    Nice...the quiet and the sunsets are two of the most awesome things about the desert. That, and how it smells after a rainstorm. If you do end up passing through Tucson, try to hit the Saguaro National Monument on the west side. It is truly spectacular!

    Eric, I wanted to say "Thank You" today for the last solar light video. Mine arrive today from eBay. After seeing your video in slab city with the lights I went ahead and order some for the van. We do a lot of flee markets and some of them don't have good lighting. Have a great time in Arizona!!!!

    Hey Eric. Thanks for showing us the scenery when you're on the road. It's one of my favorite parts of your videos. However, I gotta say that where you are right now looks like one big giant cat litter box. Wish you could find someplace that's a little more green yet still warm in the Winter. Merry Christmas to you and thanks for sharing your adventures.

    Hope you are enjoying the AZ journey Eric! Quartzsite is great! Talked to many locals. Just after Jan 1, 2015 this place will get packed they tell me!! 1/2 million people show up! I'm in Goodyear now visiting the folks. On my way back to Q in a few days for some metal detecting and a look at a BLM long term area for my trailer when I bring it next trip. I think my truck does well when pulling my trailer at 10.5-12.5mpg. But my old Insight gets 60-70mpg! Went 600 miles on just under 10 gallons of gas!

    a wise mechanic friend of mine once told me "RV really stands for rotting vehicle." As most older class C's are a wood/aluminum type construction. once the seal is broken, there is trouble. same thing happened on a 1983 citation i had - when i peeled it open i found rot everywhere inside. i suspect you may find the same if you really look. the good news is that all this time in the desert will do wonders for your old girl - it'll dry her out like never before and probably buy you some time with her. stay down as long as you can and avoid the NW winters altogether will keep her from bursting open in other places. if i had that rig my next investment would be into lifting the ass end up a few inches and adding stabilizer link - better gas mileage, higher clearance, way better handling, and not too expensive - add a leaf to the rear and she'll be a happy camper and you'll be a happy driver. less sway and more get up and go. just looking at her you can see she sits low in the rear - very normal for class C. thanks again, always enjoy watching your vids. Sonoran Desert is far more beautiful than Mojave or any other for that matter, the most green, lush, and complicated. take some time to check it out.

    Hey eric have a merry christmas. I was wondering if i put solar pannels on the top of a vehicle would i need any kind of protective layer like plexi glass? Or would it hold up agianst wind and bugs that splatter on it...the panel will be pointing straight up in the air so it wont add anymore hight to the vehicle.

    • @nomadicfanatic
      @nomadicfanatic  10 років тому +1

      They'll hold up unless it starts hailing golfballs. It's just glass, so keep that in mind.

    Hey Eric, you're headed my way. I live in Tucson. You are entering one of the prime astronomy corridors of the US. Be sure to catch a sunset and the night sky. I think you.ll be impressed. I 8 is close enough to the border that the Mexican towns might throw enough light into the sky to spoil the night sky. But as you get deeper into the US it gets lots darker until you get close to Phoenix. I think there are a few RV parks near the Junction of I8 and I10 in places called Eloy and Red Rock that always seem a tad empty and should be cheap. If you are going to be in Tucson for a while and want something to do, send a mail. I can steer you in some very fun directions. Lots of cool stuff in Tucson. But boy are you right about heat in this place. Its hot as hell for 4 months of the year. And avoid I8 late at night if you can. The traffikers from Mexico can take taht highway over at night.

    Microphone works reasonably well, but as a tip when driving with the window open, you probably want to make it hyper-directional..
    This can be fairly easily done by placing a tube around the mic which should give it better rejection of nose coming in from the side..
    Loving the videos matey.. keep 'em comin

    If you keep hugging the Mexican border - at some point you'll get near Big Bend National Park, and Terlingua, Texas. Absolutely fabulous scenery, lots of nooks and crannies, and crazy people. If you go on 170 from Presidio to Lajitas - make sure your brakes are up to the task. It's a phenomenal drive right next to the Rio Grande.

    Eric try the Sedona - Oak Creek Canyon Scenic Road (AZ.89 A) for a beautiful ride. ( Northern part of Az.,but well worth the trip on your way to ?????) I have friends there, have visited dozens of times in the last 20 years. My choice to go when I hit the road !! It's rated a top five scenic drive in the U. S.. Plenty of spots for videos and camping also. Sedona is one of Arizona's most beautiful spots !!! Flagstaff area will have plenty of Boondocking spots.. This area will remind you a little of the P N W !

    Eric, I have wondered if you may consider the trucking lifestyle. I was a trucker in the 90's, left it to be more NORMAL (shesh), and plan on returning to it soon to finish my working career. As a trucker, I truly felt like America was my back yard. Sure I had to go from point A to B in a certain time, but, I seemed to have plenty of time to do it and enjoy the scenery and lifestyle. There are lots of companies that train you in the lifestyle. Meh...just a thought.

    Every video I watch makes me want to join that lifestyle. I don't like too much time before I can leave and retire from the dept. of corrections. • @SomeBroski00

      Andre Normandin The service is excellent. But Verizon locked you out of your phone.
      No matter what service you get they have almost unlimited roaming. Sprint you can roam so long is it isn't the majority of network time a month.
      Never mind.

    Hey Eric, What's the maximum mass of your RV and do you need to take any additional tests to allow you to drive an RV in America?
    Over here in the UK i can drive any vehicle up to 3500KG on a standard licence (as of 1997, up to 7500KG if you passed your test pre97) but would need take an additional test for a heavier vehicle.
    Hope you have a good xmas buddy, don't answer this is you don't want to but do you keep in touch with family and friends while you're on the road and how do they feel about your, in my opinion, awesome lifestyle?
    Thanks,
    Jason

    • @nomadicfanatic
      @nomadicfanatic  10 років тому +1

      I don't know what the total mass is, but no special license or endorcments needed to drive it here in the US. It's a 24 foot RV. 11ft2in high.

    • @waterdamnaged
      @waterdamnaged 10 років тому

      Jason, you'll literally 50 different answers as to where exactly a CDL requirement begins in the US, as licensing of that sort is the jurisdiction of each individual state.

    • @RebelCowboySnB
      @RebelCowboySnB 10 років тому

      There is actually a federal standard for commercial licenses. Some states exceed it but most follow it exactly. There are two types of licensing in the US an 3 classes of each. A class C non commercial is needed to drive most cars. If you want to drive something that weighs over 26,000 pounds or has air breaks you have to take a extra test for it an get a class B license. You still can not pull a trailer with more than 10,000 pounds on its axles. If you want to pull a bigger trailer you need to step up to a class A license. Every state offers all 3 in a Commercial license for anyone who is being payed. Most states offer a non commercial version of all 3 classes for farmers, firemen, RV as anyone else that is not getting payed but needs to have air brakes or more weight. The weight requirements on the non commercial ones can vary state by state but usually do not. Federal law only mandated the rules for people that are being payed. Also if you never leave your state then federal law does not apply.

    I like it when he puts the camera down outside, then walks into
    the scene, it takes a lot of time and leg work, not to mention all
    the editing, but the final product looks quit professional.

    With the solar lights why not seperate the solar part and run a wire to the side or front so that you dont have to move them to charge them. I am doing the same thing in my home for my front door but for when someone enters. I am still not decided when i will boondock but when i do i will do the same thing. I have a trailer but think i would rather do it with a sprinter van.

      Pilot Knob is the name of the mountain. General Patton trained his troops there in preparation for invading North Africa.

  • @Lee.Hoover87
    @Lee.Hoover87 10 років тому

    When you do your rivet fix you might want to go through a reinforcing strip of metal, or go through a fender washer with each rivet. Otherwise the rivet head might just pop through the RV skin. Want to see the Rosie the Riveter repair!

    Eric, I have watched your video's for a long time even when all the trouble going on about donations. I will have to say you now seem like a regular person and I hope you stay that way. I was disappointed in you for a while, and every thing you were telling everyone seemed like sorta of a joke. Now though I am starting to believe that you have changed. All I can say is keep it up be a regular guy and don't depend on everyone else to give ya a free ride. I do enjoy you and Jax doing your thins, take care and god speed.

      ***** Thats why i questioned your reply. I live on my 38 food Discovery here in the uk.I have to use campsites and pay the fees. Its not to bad in winter because its cheaper to be on a site than on the road.Full hookup and all that. But the other prob with this is its to bloody big. Simple as.You have Idiots on the UK forums saying to newcomers. Yeh Yeh there great if a dustbin lorry can get down a road you can.Like a dustbin lorry dont't have a serious paint job that you dont want to scratch up. Ohhh its endless bull Shit over here.
