We need to make more use of these big natural venues. Can you imagine if some were stocked with a couple of thousand Carp? Ponsticill Reservoir became hugely popular in the early 2000's with Carp fisherman and I believe produced a Welsh record, it's a shame it's been poached.
The revenue created by stocking somewhere like the Elan valley reservoirs with course fish would be immense.

Unlike Llandegfedd and Dolygaer/Pontsticll the Elan valley dams are much more infertile with deep acidic water (as are many mid/north Wales reservoirs) so probably not that suited to coarse fish/carp.
Llangorse lake on the other hand has vast potential if it could be opened up for bank fishing, as could Port Talbot dock if more fishing areas could be created. Llys-y-fran reservoir in West Wales would also be a contender if they don't re-stock it with trout.

@@FishingInWales Very good points about the Elan valley. Bank fishing on Llangorse would be amazing, the tench and bream fishing is pretty untapped.
