Nice to see Grwyne fawr from this angle. I've been up there many times over the years and have never seen anyone fish it. Of course the road you went up is private so it must have been pre-arranged. Still - a good take on the reservoir and area....
This is brilliant I've been a hill walker for many years and didn't realise you could take fly gear in your rucksack so I'm going to kit myself out and get going..many thanks..Andy
Hi Guys That stream feeds into the river Usk. There are a lot more of those resevoirs and Lyns (mountain lakes) through south and mid Wales and some a lot more remote, keep exploring them!!!!!!!!!
Being from Canada what I love is the whole idea of it's remote we couldn't find any information. It's a man made lake men! You know when the dam was built!
Hi Smiorgan, we caught several really nice brown that we released. This was one of our first wildernesstv fly fishing films and I had only been fishing for a couple of months. We do make sure that we release as many wild trout as we can.
6 weight is overkill for the size of fish they hold. I use a 10' 4# fast taper as most Welsh reservoirs don't require long casts due to deep water close in and also not much over 1lb in size. 4# gives a lovely fight. I use a 6 for large lake rainbows.
Hi Bustedcrunk, if you head down from the Dam on the track about 1 to 2 miles, there is a bungalow on the left. Its the first one and between two road gates. If you send me your e-mail address I will mail you a google screen grab. Nicky
I’m lucky. I’ve just bought house next to the river below this reservoir. Love it. Such a beautiful place.
That's awesome! Its been a couple of years since we have been there. Must head back when things settle down after this Covid nightmare.

If fishing C&R on the 2nd fish, why lift it out of the water?
This reservoir is controlled by the Glan Usk estate - £30 a day apparently.
