Thanks David. Been using it for 9 months now , still getting system overloads - stuck notes, I’m going to reduce patches , DND and turn off wifi, and remove space designer when I don’t need it and the high resource plug ins to clean it up thanks !
Hi there, I was wondering how I can control a parameter across multiple patches? So you can still turn the knob, for example, and change the parameter when you move to another patch. Thank you for your time (:
So I’m using my 2020 iMac 3.6ghz 10-core i9 w/ 32gb of memory for mainstage so it has 20 cores but for some reason I’m still having issues lol I did everything in the video I even put the buffer size at 1024 lol still having issues. Issues may contain: clicking and snapping when playing, the entire patch makes a loud snap and completely shuts off audibly (I can still see the gain meter moving) forcing me to re load the patch, and errors popping up saying CPU overload even though the little cpu meter only says 48-52% is being used. Any ideas as to what’s going on? Yes software is up to date but I haven’t updated the Mac yet from Big Sur 11.5.2 updating this makes me nervous
When you say “make sure you address buss issues “ re: Reverb’s etc what do you mean? Turn them off or use external (FOH) effects or what.....??? Thank you for your help.
What I gathered is that adding instrument patches will often add fx buses at the concert level. These buses don't get deleted when the instrument is deleted. That means your concert could have multiple fx buses with plugins running that aren't being used. Even though they aren't being used, mainstage keeps them running and this uses CPU power. Basically just check the concert level fx buses and delete ones you aren't using.
I've done all these things and it's still sputtering and cutting out. I checked the CPU portion and when I start mainstage, it's at about 35-40%. Even with Sunday keys, it looks good at 60% but then after a couple of minutes, it sputters then cuts out and will eventually stop. It happened for the first time at church yesterday at the end of service so I had my backup yamaha motif to finish off. I don't know what else it could be. Help!
I've created an aggregate device to split tonic and patches going to the board, so my patches go through the interface but my pads go through the headphone jack. Is there a way to do this without sending those through the headphone jack?
Great Video. But sadly my problem wasn’t discussed. Since a short time and after using MainStage for a time my concert starts changing to the next patches without giving the command to do this randomly and suddenly. I checked my mappings and connections, but couldn’t find anything. Do you have any idea? I have connected my keys with a usb cable to a usb hub that’s connected to my Mac book. I hope you or anyone else may knows the problem?
Thanks so much for this video. What do you suggest I do about use of Space D in buses?: 1. Only select instruments from channel strip instrument? 2. Go through buses changing instances of space D to a less CPU intensive reverb? which reverb would you suggest as a replacement? Also, how would I identify unused buses? Sorry for all the questions
What is the best practice as it relates Sample rates (44.1? 48?) ... especially when sending audio over Dante (& using an SSL2+ as the midi in to the MacBook). I tried it out today and got disastrous results... might've been CPU overload but I'm not positive. I think I've aligned all the sample rates but maybe I'm missing something.
Very helpful as always David, thanks! We launch mainstage for the first time this Sunday coming!
That's so exciting!! Let us know how it goes :)
And again, excellent
Thank you!
This is really helpful. Thanks, David!
So glad it was helpful - thanks, Jerald!
@@SundaySounds absolutely!

Thanks for your video. very helpful.... in the Buffer Window should I check the box that says I/O Safety Buffer ?

That's so helpful. I thinks it's the last point for me (Headphone Jack). I will look for the Audio interface.
i just had my first cpu problem...going to try these tips out, thanks!

Can I use my icon m+ motorized mixer in MainStage 3?
Does the analog CPU option (the VU meter you add under the Panel Control) also work on the same principle? It also only goes up to 100/400% CPU?
Yes, that's right.

Hello David, why does my memory usage is almost full in the mainstage app even if I have only 1 patch loaded?
Thank you so much! Helped me a lot.

You could buy an interface that had more outputs so you could send them both through it.

Enter MacBook Pro M1 PRO - what CPU optimization?

If you're not noticing CPU issues you are probably okay to keep Space Designer reverb, if you are then try replacing that plugin with SilverVerb
I dont have the low resolution mode...?
Hi, yeah some computers don't have that as an option, unfortunately
@@SundaySounds ah okay thank yoy

We usually recommend 44.1 and making sure everything is the same. For video the standard is 48, so you might try setting everything to that.
Thats helpful.. Thanks
I want to buy a new MacBook Pro but how much ram would I need to run Mainstage 3 and Omnisphere 2 at the same time.
8GB at a minimum, more would be even better.
Hi. Do you recommend the safety buffer check on or off? And why?
How to put CPU indicator in perform mode?
If you add it in Layout mode it should also appear in Perform mode.
You say to "address the concert level busses." Precisely, what do you do?
Hi Bob, you need to remove any unneeded or resource hungry concert level busses by selecting them and hitting delete on your keyboard.
But...but...I need 15 stacks and 5 instances of omnisphere open! 🤓
Nice video folk
What is the controller next to your computer?
Its the Platform X midi controller by iCon. David uses it when working in Logic Pro X primarily because the faders are automatable via Mackie Control
13:27 hope that's gonna be a video!
helpful!
Another good thing is turn off auto save
