I don’t hear anything about Baylor missing free throws. 13/20 with 12 turnovers! You make shots, you win! Enough about the bad call at the end! The refs gave you 20 points from the free throw line🤷‍♂️

I can understand Baylor's frustration at the non-call on the last play but it was essentially a game of non-calls. UConn players, Paige Bueckers in particular, were getting hammered all night long without being the beneficiary of a whistle. For a game deciding foul to be called at a professional level it has to be clear cut body on body. Refs rarely make a call at this juncture if it's hand and arm.

Paige scored 12pts after Didi went out. She scored 16pts with Didi guarding her. Also, UCONN's starting point Nikka didn't play at all so Baylor isn't the only team to suffer an important injury...

Exactly right Paige had a good handle on Didi and I thought it was very classy of Didi to hold her head high as she walked off the court and she pointed to Paige recognizing her talent and that they won fair and square. Also it’s unfortunate that Baylors back up point guard was so unprepared to play. You got to think anything can happen in a game and you need a deep bench and back ups not just a hope for the best mentality.

Baylor went from being up by like 13 pts in the 3rd Q to being down later by 7 I think, to come back to it being a close game in the end. Now, that's a 20 point swing, so some could argue it's more than a bad call that lost the game, especially when there were other bad calls and non calls. It should never come down to one call. I always hate to see a game end on a bad call though, but the refs were letting them play a physical game the whole way and the refs, for the most part let them play thru it. Both of these teams have enough depth to carry their team to a win even if their best player goes down. I, personally, do not attribute Uconn's comeback to Didi Richards leaving the game. She wasn't guarding five players. It takes a whole team to guard another against a 19 point onslaught. I think both teams were equally matched and it could have gone either way.

There would be no comment. There wouldn’t likely be a controversy. I stand by my comment - few games are rarely won or lost on one call or non call. The game is 40 minutes long - a multitude of plays contribute to the outcome - rarely just one. It is unfortunate that a key Baylor player went down - certainly a potential game changer - but we’ll never know - all speculation. Baylor is disappointed at the outcome for sure but they were in control and let it slip away. Perhaps a timeout would have stopped the 19-0 Uconn run - coaching error?. Maybe that’s the key. Name as many as you like but, again, one event rarely determines an outcome.

It's why they are usually one of the lowest fouling teams in the country because the style of play does not usually put them in a position to foul. I’m a UConn fan and I definitely think there was a foul on that last Baylor shot. That said, the refs called the whole game that way. We could pick out a gazillion bad calls. Westbrook was flagged with two set feet two possessions earlier. There looked like a flop from Destiny going for a rebound that was called a foul a possession later. Players on both sides got hacked repeatedly, the whole game, without consistent calls. It stinks when a foul isn’t called at the end, but everyone has a tendency to focus on the last bad call and not the many others that came before it. This game was really lost when Baylor’s PG went down. I see no chance for a 19-0 run with the best defensive player in basketball in the game. And Baylor should never have been in this game in the first place. Baylor is either 1, 2, or 3 in the country. And definitely not 7th. This said, my hat is off to Baylor. Boy did they play tough and battle for every second of those 40 minutes. And, of course, how many layups and foul shots did UConn miss down the stretch?

Baylor may not have even been the correct team to play in the Elite 8 against UConn, based on officiating in the Sweet 16 game with Michigan, because of a Dee Dee Richards double dribble no-call, which gave Baylor two points they were not entitled to. This prevented Michigan from being able to call a time out to set up a play based on the real lead they had without that basket. But we didn’t see Mulkey calling a time out to let the officials know they missed that turnover in Michigan’s favor. The point is that every game has the potential for mistakes by officials that can alter the outcome. Sometimes they’re in your favor and sometimes they’re not. At 9.8 seconds the score was 75 to 76, Baylor ahead. However, the score should have been 75 to 74 in favor of Michigan. While Baylor got a another basket at the end, because they had the extra 2 points that they were not entitled to, Michigan thought they had to go for 3, but could, in actuality, had enough time to go for a 2 and tie the game to go into another overtime. So It looks like Baylor got the benefit of an official’s mistake that advanced them. It’s not a perfect world, just sayin...
