My Dad was born in 1930, 94 this year. He can remember being hungry and 'make do and mend'. He said he had to put newspaper in his shoes when they wore through as they couldn't afford new shoes or to get the old ones resoled. He was determined we would never go wanting as kids, and although we weren't rich, we always had a full belly back in the 60s and 70s. I loved the pineapple cubes. They were certainly my favourite. I've really enjoyed this episode and I must say the narration was top notch and very eloquent. Thanks for sharing.

Aww, thank you so much for this amazing story about your dad! ❤️ It's incredible how much he lived through and how strong the values of his generation were. 💪 "Make do and mend" is such a powerful phrase. 💭
I'm so glad you enjoyed the episode and that my narration didn't put you to sleep! 😁 Pineapple cubes, yum! 🍍😋 They were definitely a classic back in the day. I love hearing how the video brought back those sweet memories for you.
Thanks again for watching and sharing your dad's story. It means the world to me! 😊💖

what a neat little place! i love the idea of a living museum. one of the towns i grew up in had a history village with some of the original homes from the settlement. one year for extra credit for a class, i dressed up in costume and sat in one of the rooms and had a little prepared speech. the fact that people are really living in beamish is fascinating! will you go back when the 1950s portion is fully open? i love the trolley and old double decker one too. did you ride either? best to you! 🛴❤

Hey, thank you so much for watching! 😊 Beamish is totally unique, isn't it? The idea of a living museum is pretty mind-blowing 🤯 I've heard of similar places but not on this scale! And OMG, your extra credit assignment sounds like so much fun! 😂
It's not quite accurate to say people are living in Beamish, though - they're dressed up in the clothes and doing the jobs of the time periods represented there, but they don't actually live on-site. They're super passionate and knowledgeable, though! 👍
I definitely plan to go back when the 1950s town is complete! 🤩 It was still under construction when we were there. And yessss, we rode the tram and the bus! 🙌 It was like stepping back in time. Can't wait to share more about that with y'all! 😉
Thanks again for the kind words and support! ❤️
