    Good looking out about multiple length bolts. I used the gaskets to trace the bolt pattern onto cardboard then put the bolts into the cardboard as they came out. My memory is shot so these are the things I need to do😮‍💨
    Great video, gonna help me with my 73 Mustang, pretty much the same setup.

    I like how you pulled the front timing cover without totally removing the water pump I've always wondered if you could do that!

    I just got done doing this procedure, tearing down is the hardest part, saved all my brown shopping bags, to bag up parts that are coming off with the nuts an bolts, itemize and number in order they came out or off not one bolt was left over, take your time if something aren't going right you're doing something wrong, stop and take a break, think about it why is this part giving me a hard time, believe me you'll figure it out

    Nice work! I re did my water pump/ chain on my 2000 Explorer last winter. Amazing how little changed with these engines over the years.

    I’d take the time and replace the other two gaskets on the water pump and the front crankshaft seal. That will keep you from having to remove it later. Plus the lower radiator hose looked soft. FYI: The other mark you can look at on the lower gear is the crankshaft key way. It will always be aligned to the mark on the gear.

    Hi great video but how did you seal the bottom of the timing case to the sump?

    That worn timing chain was an early version of variable valve timing.

    Do you remember if yours had an crankshaft oil slinger between the lower sprocket and the timing cover? Mine's also a '75 302.

    Thank you for this video. Helps a lot.
    One quick question: what happen when the chain is so loose and the two points are not aligned? What pole should I adjust? What would be the procedure? Thank you!

    Woulda been nice to see the timing chain actually come off! Are there additional bolts or just the one? Was it super easy to just slide off? Do you need a puller? etc...

    Hi. I just bought a double roller for mine but the two piece fuel pump eccentric is now too tight and the outer ring isn't free. Am I ok to fit a spacer behind it?

    I’m working on a 1994 mustang gt 5.0 302 engine as well and the dots on the timing chain are off so do I just keep rotating it until the dots meet up at 0 degrees top dead center ?

  • @michaelknight2897
    @michaelknight2897 3 роки тому +1

    Did you line up the dots by rotating harmonic balancer to TDC?

    Do you know if the upper bolt holes on the alternator bracket are for a factory air conditioning pump or if it’s another location to mount the alternator? My 1976 has the same bracket and I’ve always wondered what those empty holes for for!

    Hi mate! Which Fitech injection fuel system fit to Ford 351 V8 engine?

  • @dcrs51
    @dcrs51 6 років тому +4

    You could have taken off the fuel pump eccentric cam that thing on the timing sprocket that's like off center that's only for mechanical fuel pumps

    Hey Nash, I am doing my timing chain/water pump and following your video.
    I need to replace all the bolts. Do you have a source for these?

      I have a '95 Mustang....I ordered mine from BoltDepot.com....very fast shipping if you are on the east coast...I ordered Stainless Steel - 5/16-18 in various lengths....I am 100% sure my bolt lengths are different than yours...You just need to find out what the lengths are OR order a bunch of studs, nuts and washers....

    Hello, nice video. I think it was 2003 and I didn't use the internet or UA-cam for help. My question is, I did a timing chain kit replacement on a 1986 Ford Bronco. I didn't know anything about marks that needed to be aligned. I just unbolted and took off and did the reverse to put back together. My Bronco started right up and ran fine for about 9 months until I traded it in for a new Ford F-150. Do you really need to align the marks? I did this with my Chevy Aveo, marks were aligned, but I destroyed my engine when it came time to start. What gives?

    What brand timing set did you use ?

  • @kataix1476

    Hi Jon. I have a question (a basic one) and i hope you can help me.
    How do you close the tailgate ? My 1975 Bronco haven't a latch and only has it in the back window. I wonder if in the past, maybe, the tailgate closed thanks to the wheel carrier...
    How do you close your Bronco's back door? Did you put a latch there?
    Thank you

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  6 років тому +1

      Strange, so your tailgate doesn’t have a latch? Is it just always shut?

    • @kataix1476
      @kataix1476 6 років тому

      it has the original handle and I can open and close it, but it hasn't a lock where you can put a key in there and secure the door

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  6 років тому +1

      Mine is the same way. Only the top has the lock.

    What is the black canister connected to the silver machined long nut coming off the timing chain area?

    • @NashvilleEarlyBronco
      @NashvilleEarlyBronco  3 роки тому

      I think you’re talking about the oil filter

    • @Legendracer01
      @Legendracer01 3 роки тому

      @@NashvilleEarlyBronco no sir, its a long hex nut looking thing. My 302 has it too. It is attached to the timing cover on the driver's side. It's maybe 4in in length.
