Here is my perspective on Jacob and also Richard Mille. Their watches look like cheap plastic and I'm happy they exist because they are proof with enough marketing you can convince people something is a lot more valuable than it really is. I plan to use elements of their marketing strategy for my jewllery line.

Go to any Watch Week and you'll leave thinking Jacob is a bargain brand. The prices aren't that expensive (in a world where a classic styled watch w/ double turvillon are $400k). You can't rate a brand based on resale value either. Rolex rainbow was 1.5million and that one big Patek was $440,000 with both less than half that now.
