    Liked the reaction. This album is not for everyone clearly but the ones that get it get it. Don’t think she is trying too hard I think the general public is just not used to Beyoncé expressing herself this way. Her using current slang while paying homage to the OGs that created this sound (the Black LGBTQ+ community) isn’t gonna rub off well on everyone but this album is perfect is my eyes and is her best work to date.

    definetely, any album by Beyoncé is a masterpiece 😍

    This album might have felt a little bit over the top, it's because it's inspired on the LGBTQ+ culture over the 70's and 80's, specifically talking about ballrooms, where mostly, young african american and latin people expressed themselves on the dance floor of these places and had a chance and a space to feel free and secure about what they were. So the sounds on this album are inspired of the kind of music people play in ballrooms. This album is supposed to be the first part, there are two more parts to come, so I hope too to have some more slow shit and different vibes of songs

    While I don’t fully agree with some of your points, I appreciate you had a more balanced reaction to this album. I do agree with you that some of her lyrics and approach seem to be a little too catered to gen z (what you felt about her trying to be too young), but what you didn’t like about her being too bold, is exactly why I love this album. What other pop star is doing something as experimental and unexpected as Beyoncé did with this album? It’s genre mashups are interesting and production values are exciting. She could’ve easily gone fully mainstream and she would’ve had critical and popular success. But this blend of weird, bold, experimental, fun, and even try hard being popular feels so much more deserved. That being said, I understand your criticisms of the work and you made valid points. Thanks for the review~

      I totally understand what you’re saying Jojo it’s great what she is doing and being experimental for the size of artist she is is amazing and is inspiring others but for me it just didn’t hit the way I wanted to - doesn’t mean it’s a bad album by any stretch of the imagination ‼️☺️

      @ronnydraper Рік тому +3

      @DelvauxOvaC OH we know it's not a bad album. That disclaimer doesn't need to be stated. Some people have a narrow view on music and their musical pallet is likely a bit mundane. You likely fall into that category. Anyways, I'm so glad Beyoncé is bold in her artistry. It will stand the test of time. There isn't a single artist impacting the music world like she is with her music and that's why she is still here in 2023.

    You should listen to lemonade and the self-titled album, curious thing, is that both were surprise albums. Lemonade was announced as a film and turned out to be a film and an album. The self-titled one was not announed even for one day, she released it as a digital album out of nowhere with tons of songs and having a video for every single song, it was nuts. Both albums are great, lots of exploration on sound genres and concepts. Having a video for every song and for lemonade, a movie, it's cool to have a further look of what she wanted to project. Love your reactions dude ❤️❤️

  • @tracefriend8201
    @tracefriend8201 Рік тому +5

    The reason you think she’s trying to be “younger” in her lyrics is because the language she uses was made BY black people and specifically black queer people which trickles down heavily into pop culture. Most of the slang that millennials and Gen Z use were made by black queer people a decade+ beforehand. It sounds young now because gen z is borrowing terms from AAVE.

      Nailed it on the head! That's why I always say that whilst we can all appreciate this album for how great it sounds, it wasn't necessarily made for all of us. If you're not a part of the culture she's celebrating here, either just take the songs as they are, or research the whole thing to fully understand where the project is coming from and what it is referencing.

    I did enjoy this video, liked, subscribed. But I have to disagree a little:
    1. The idea that she is trying too hard. I think she *is* trying hard but not in excess, like there's an appropriate amount of trying hard. The intention was for the album to be campy and over the top.
    **2. One that I have not seen any other comments acknowledge is the idea that she is trying to be young despite her age number being high or something. I think it's beautiful personally that an older person has such vitality and life.
    None of her youthful moments feel out of touch and she did her Homework with this. Like her seeming young I think is more of a reflection of how aware she is to what is relevant and current, as well as respecting who it's all built on.
    The genres she is playing with aren't particularly young though. Dance, House, and Disco have been around when Beyonce *was* young
    In Virgo's Groove she even acknowledges she and Jay Z's aging. "We ain't got time like we used to, but we still shine like we used to"
    I think the energy and joy persisting in the face of a 2020-2022 world is the thesis of this album.
    3. And the idea that we don't relate, yeah I do agree. I'm not sure we're supposed to relate per se.. more vicariously enjoy her decadence for an hour.

    Church Girl was about her former band mate Michelle Williams and how she was so pure but so willing to perform the non-Christianity stuff for their albums. Despite Michelle being a devote Christian. People with context can see it was an ode to her, who people unfairly found her to be “the boring girl.” In the group.

    For me the standout tracks are Alien Superstar, Virgo’s Groove, America Has a Problem and Pure/Honey. Pure/Honey being my personal highlight of the album.
    This album is closest to my personal taste in music out of all of Beyoncé’s studio albums. I’m more a fan of live albums, I feel like that’s where her music reaches its full potential.

    I don’t think she’s trying too hard, I’m curious why you think that? I don’t think her lyrics are “younger than her age” I think you limiting her words down to her age is certainly interesting. This has always been Beyonce. and I would like to know why that comparison was made. Very unique reaction tho.
