  • Canon TS-E17mm lens was always one of my favourite lenses but I couldn't use any filters with it, because of the way it was made. Until now!
Hear my thoughts about the lens filters, why you should use them and about NISI's S5 Filter Holder system made especially for the Canon's fabled TS-E 17mm f/4 lens!

Awesome review. I have the Nisi system for my Sony 14mm lens and it works quite well. I now use the Kase clip-in filters for ND in the Sony A1, another great option. Strongly WANTING the Canon TS-E 17mm :)

I got the NISI S5 kit for my Canon TS-E 17mm lens based largely on your informative review. I couldn't be more pleased at the quality. Thank you.

Great review ! I just bought a nikon 19mm PC-e tilt/shift and the Nice S5 kits like you show there..Only gripe I have is the bag in that basic kit isn't large enough for extra filters. At least it doesn't look it. The build quality of the holders is quite nice

Thanks Steve. I think it's a matter of practicality. Already big pouch for s5 would have been massive if it had to carry filters too...

Excellent review. Looking forward to the next video and in particular how much vignetting occurs when using the filters.

these filters are equally expensive, do you have any reasonably cheaper option?

There are plenty of cheap filters out there, but you get what you pay for; NISI uses optically pure glass and the type of coating which won't degrade the image quality your expensive lenses produce. You don't need to buy the whole collection of filters, just go with the basic kit and try it for a while. I think you'll be impressed. You can always buy additional filters later.

    Also improve flare resistance?

Frankly, flare resistance of this lens is excellent without the filter. Since the filter holder limits the angle at which the light can hit the lens, the flare will certainly be controlled better as well.

Please note to everybody that would like to buy this filter holder, this is not compatible with all filter brands, despite they have the same filter measures. Haida 150x150x2mm Nd stop filter is not compatible with this.

Dude careful there with your lens’s front element, its too close to that table.
