Wow! What a great tutorial! I thought I knew how to make bath salt but you threw in some awesome tips that I wasn't aware of, like drying it in the oven and adding the castle soap... Thanks! 👍
Was looking for the perfect way to make my own bath salts for my daughter and I found You! Loved how you explained the reasons of why to put baking soda, soap and oils. Thank you so much for sharing!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤THANK YOU! & QUESTIONS! This is an awesome recipe, I’ve used it before, but I am tasked with making a large amount of bath salt blends… I’m trying to figure out the proportions. Do you have any recommendations on figuring that out if I use your recipe? So if I was using cups, I would just translate that from the tablespoons ? For example, 7 cups dead sea salt, one cup, Epsom salts, etc.? And I wondered if they could be dried in the microwave also? I’ve been drying flowers that way and herbs, and it works quickly and well! Have you ever tried that or has anyone?
Thanks for the recipe! I am making them for Mother's Day. So many great tips and one of the few videos I could find that actually used a carrier for the essential oils (which I was definitely wanting to do!) I am surprised though that you use 240 drops essential oil?! Most recipes I see use 10 - 20 drops. I was too scared to use too many so have used 12 drops so we'll see how that goes.
Hi thank You, very good tutorial, I have a question, if you put the flowers in the oven with the salt do they get dark and crunchy, or better said, does the appearance changes? Thank you for sharing .
I have to say, your video is such high quality! The lighting, photos, b-roll, etc. You're such a pro! I'm really into making my own bath products - so I'm going to pin your post to try later!
Thank you for sharing. I've never made bath salt before; how much does this recipe yield? 240 drops seems like a lot is that a whole bottle or oz conversion to consider?
@@BumblebeeApothecary Greetings from India! I just wanted to convey my thanks to you as the way you execute and present is really simple and interesting to watch. Please continue, .. Me and my mum love to see such videos 🌿🌈
I also make bath scrubs, but I make mine with more moisture rather than drier, because I was informed that dry was more irritating to them. Any thoughts?
Thanks for sharing all the great information as you were making this! Where do you buy your essential oils. 240 drops is a lot so you must be buying in bulk. Thanks!
I used 2 cups of epsom salt and 1 cup of Himalayan salt. I used 20 drops of essential oils and it was VERY strong. So i dont see how u are using 240 drops
could I use all Himalayan sea salt? I bought some specifically for bath soaks. I also have magnesium flakes. They tend to be wet when compared to Epsom salt. Do you have any suggestions on how to incorporate the mag salts into a soak with out it clumping up? THANK YOU
Yes, Himalayan pink salt should be a good substitute. Is not quite as rich in minerals as the Dead Sea salt, but it would be fine. The baking step is actually to dry the salts out so they don't clump, so that may help.
Good point! I think heat might affect them some. I've also made this recipe by adding the essential oils after the heating process, and I do like that better.
Bumblebee Apothecary also...so sorry in the Uk we have baking powder or bicarbonate of soda......which do I use? Baking powder has raising agent and wheat flour and the bicarbonate has just the raising agent sodium hydrogen carbonate? Thank you xx
@@BumblebeeApothecary Thanks for clarifying. I wanted to make in slightly bigger quantities and didn't have access to an oven. Any other suggestions as to how to dry the mix ?
@@AG_ASG You're welcome! Hmmm... maybe you could spread the mixture out on baking sheets and let it sit in the sun or some other warm area for a few hours? I'm not sure if that would work, but it is my best suggestion with no oven 😊

I am so confused about the 240 drops. Seems so excessive, but I'm new to this. Is that number actually correct? And how come you wouldn't just do it by the teaspoon/half teaspoon instead of having to count 240 times? Thanks
It seems like a lot, but that's the amount I found works well for the finished salts to have enough smell. You could definitely do less if you prefer! And yes, I think it would be more efficient to do teaspoon measures, but I didn't figure out what the conversion would be :)

Does it smell so amazing while in the oven?
Yes it does, it makes the whole house smell so good!
Quick question..can I use fragrance oils instead of essential oils? Thanks.
You could, but you’d use a lot less. I prefer essential oils because they are natural, while fragrance oils are synthetic 😊
They can burn the skin so if you do, don’t use much at all

Yes I think that would work!
Marissa youre adorable! So glad i found your channel
Hi! Is it okay to use baking powder instead of baking soda? If yes, how much of it? Thanks!
I don't think that would work the same, since it has extra ingredients. Hope this helps!
I have a quick question, what essential oil did u use in the recipe?
I use Relax from Plant Therapy: www.pntra.com/t/TUJGR0ZGSEJGTkpHTUZCRkxNSUlI
I don’t own Castile soap so are there any other soaps that work good?
Any mild unscented liquid soap would work :)
thanks for the recipe - how much do you put in the tub
About 1/2 a cup is usually good :)
I followed your recipe and sadly it did not come out..Should I cook longer?
I have a question will putting them in the oven effect the benifits of the essential oils
It might a little bit, but I've still found it to turn out very well :)
Isn't it bad to heat the essential oils in the oven, as they will lose their therapeutic properties ?
Thanks for sharing your video.
Good point! I think heat might affect them some. I've also made this recipe by adding the essential oils after the heating process, and I do like that better.
What are the benefits of using the oil and castille soap? Can you just use one? Thanks.
They are to dilute and disperse the essential oils. You could probably do okay with just one, but using both works even better 😊

hi! since theres soap in it, will it create bubbles?
It hasn't ever done that for me :)
Is drying of the end product necessary? Any drawbacks if not followed ?
It’s not necessary, but if you skip that step the salts might harden in the container while they’re being stored. Drying helps to prevent that 😊

What's the best book to get started?
I didn't use any books, just experiment and create things on my own :) I'm sure you could find something good online, though!
Does it not destroy the essential oils when heated
It doesn't destroy them, I've always had great results :)
how much do you recommend per bath? 240 drops of oil sounds like a lot for one bath so I'm assuming not all at once, right?
Right! About 1/4 to 1/2 cup of the finished salts is what I usually do.
Can i use fragrance oil ?
I think so, but I haven't tried it. I like sticking with essential oils since they're natural. Hope that helps!
Hi. I tried the recipe. For some reason the oil fragances dissapered!. Do you know what could have happened?. Thanks.

Does it clog the drain
The flowers might, if you let them go down. I either keep them in a muslin bag, or use a strainer on the tub drain :)
Do you take regular shower or bath before soak bath salt
Yes, I do like to do a regular shower first.
@@BumblebeeApothecary thanks for your reply I really appreciate your time
In the video you say 7 tbs epsom salt, but your blog post says only 1 tbs. which is correct?
It is 7 tbsp Dead Sea salt
1 tbsp Epsom salts :)
Hi please can you tell me where you found those giant bags of flowers I’m struggling to find them bulk
Yes! Amazon has them. There are links to them in the description box :)
I went on your Etsy page and you don’t have this product listed. How can I get my hands on one of these? What size is your jar?
I'm sorry, they're out of stock right now :( These are 8 oz. jars.
What would be the count for the essential oil if you only wanted to do 2% ?
96 drops :)
Do you really have to dry it out in the oven?
You don't have to, but if you skip that step, it can become hard and packed in the storage jar. The drying helps prevent that.

How would you dry the bath salt if you dont use oven?
Good question! You can try another low, even heat source, like strong sunlight.
Can we do microwave instead?
I'm not sure, I've never tried that. It might work!
I don't have castile soap, what else can I use?
You can use any mild, natural soap :)
can you use pet jars instead
I'd probably avoid plastic, and stick to glass.
