I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia. It is my goal here on the channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see many tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.

Her aunt, d lady owner said " No need to pay for d food ( No pay - she said ) meaning all d foods and drinks that they ate and drank there are all on d house - free of charge ... Again another Sarawak hospitality or particularly in this case, Miri City hospitality ....
An interesting walk about at Canada Hill. Yeah, coconut is always the best refreshing drink.
Well, the best episode of this Sarawak roadtrip was that visit to Melanau village which was not only interesting but knowledgeable and informative.
As a whole, this Sarawak series is an epic one. Great contents, great videos and a big thanks, Ken, for bringing us along the entire journey. I truly enjoyed watching all the videos. Kudos to you and crew !!!

The local shop owner is so enthusiastic and their tomato eggplant looks so appealing!
Looking forward to your trip to Brunei, thanks for sharing!👍😃🙏
That table of foods is luxurious expensive, you guys so lucky to taste /eat them! I can guarantee you can't find it any where outside Sarawak & Sabah. And if you found it, it will cost you lots. Enjoy! Thank you for the Sarawakian who provides these local delicacies, 'WoooHaaaa!'
Sarawakian hospitality Ken……my home town welcome 🙏
Greetings Ken, I guess everything that starts has an end & your journey has almost ended too.
You guys had done something beyond our Malaysian(at least especially me) couldn’t do, which is travelling from Kuching to Miri.
I guess this is another milestone for you as it’ll be such a wonderful experience & tale to tell your family back in Germany.
As always, stay safe & healthy always. Looking forward to your next destination video
I am from the orang ulu tribe..orang ulu means:- up river people or people who live in the interior
Thanks for explaining 😊
@@KenAbroad, “Orang Ulu” is an umbrella group for the rest of minority Dayak groups. They consists or roughly 20 other smaller groups like the Kelabit, Lun Bawang, Kayan, Kenyah, Punan, Penan, Lahanan, etc.
14 days exploring Sarawak is not enough. I don’t know either you all have visited Niah Cave on the way before you go to Miri. Mulu National Park also worth to explore too. Anyway thanks for all the videos along the trip to Sarawak
I really enjoyed visiting that first longhouse and the fun and banter with the locals there plus the jungle trecking. Back on the road solo Ken. Looking forward to your next video already :)
Welcome to my Hometown Miri. OMG! i miss Cana Hill which is literally at the back of my home, my home at Hillstone Garden at the hillside which is 20minutes walk from the top. too bad you guys didnt have a sunset there, its my fav spot for evening jogs and enjoy the sunset 😊

Yay, first.
What a way to end d road trip by spending some time at d Canada Hill.
my fav would be :
1/ melanau village trip.
2/ you and the guys racing up the stairs.
3/ buntut ayam
There is a lot of interesting place around Miri. One of the biggest cave in the world called Gua Niah (Niah Caves) and the pointy rock formation called Mulu Pinnacles.
What a great start of the day with a yummy meal as breakfast, invited/sponsored by a subscriber. Shout-out to you, Jossie. Ken, you as a border enthusiast, l know you are keen to see the Sarawak Brunei border but too bad that it's still closed for land travel. Maybe you can fly there after your Sabah trip.
1st of august land border is going to open valid for those with 3 dose vaccine
im happy to see you make a blog at miri and hope to see you came back again.

Wow, you have another feast with the Orang Ulu tribe at the cafe. What a great way to end the road trip visiting the Canada Hill and accompanied by 2 Canadians (plus 2 Romanians). Enjoyed every moment of your road trip.
Coconut water, a good source of electrolytes on a hot day and a fitting end to a fabulous road trip across Sarawak. Thanks for sharingyour journey, truly amazing. I loved every leg of it!!!!😀😊
Thanks for coming to my hometown. Maybe next time plan to go either Niah or Mulu cave.
Mirians hospitality ( no need to pay - meal free of charge ) as Steve used tö say : " What could be better than that, huh ... ??? " 😄

i'm really interested in brunei... What i know that brunei really rich but really humble country.
Brunei land border opening on 1st August
From Kuching you can cross border to West Kalimantan and you find Singkawang city which a lot of food you will like it. After you done visit the city you may go to Pontianak which capital city of West Kalimantan. From pontianak you can fly to Jakarta just one hour flying. More Cheapest compared you back to KL and fly to Jakarta and to Pontianak to Singkawang. The port you were rejected at Kuching you can arrive Singkawang may be 4 hour drive depent which border you choice. The new port near Sambas 4 hour drive. The old port router longer perhaps 8 hour drive to reach Singkawang City
welcome to miri , love my laidback city
Guten Tag, meine Freunde. I just came back from Brunei last weekend. Unfortunately, you can't go to Brunei by land since the border is still closed and you have to wait until August. Instead, you can go there by plane from KL. Miri is a very beautiful place to visit with friendly people, and the food is very mouth-watering (if you visit the correct stall 😅😂). Btw, the stall that you guys visited is not far from my house 😂😂. I hope you guys can visit Sarawak again someday.
Greetings from Miri.

Good evening from 🏴 Ken. I've just had a good catch up with your vlogs. You were all picking favourite moments and for me it was just seeing how friendly and welcoming the Malaysian people were. Incredible hospitality. Loved the family that gave you 'Rice Wine' etc. They were all fantastic vlogs with your travelling companions.

I am glad to have seen East Malaysia and I thank you for that. I thought the best thing there was the people who were friendly and welcoming. Other than that, I think West Malaysia is more dynamic and photogenic.
Happy Birthday, Ken!!! #16thJuly
I love Orang Ulu food especially the nuba laya (the soft rice packed with 'isip' leaf). It's been ages since I've had some...
5:58 You're fascinated about borders... then you must visit remote places like Ba' Kelalan and Bario...
What a wonderful journey & memory
Welcome to miri
There are so many food you haven't tried at Miri, Ken. Kolo mee, laksa, kueh chap, kuih lapis sarawak, just to name a few. If you still happened to be in Miri, do try those! And you should also visit some other places in Miri like Borneo Rainforest, Mulu and Niah Caves, Bario and etc. Hope you have an enjoyable trip here in Sarawak! P/s: Great to have Canadian visiting Canada Hill! :)
07:30 Yes Ken. You MUST go to Brunei
7:25 Yes, please go to Brunei
Orang Ulu is one of the tribe in Sarawak.. U guys can see the different from the custome they wear, the head gear.. And, the language.. 😍😍😍😍😍😍
Nice episode! 😎
For a Canada hill in Sarawak, there is a Sarawak in Canada.
I like to see you travel together with Steve and Ivana... Also the Dodo.. One of the reason because we can see three video with different perspective. The communication and spontaneous are really go well between you..
I hope they do meet up again. They all collaborate great together.
Miri its noted huge,but alot place to explore,niar cave,coco cavana,mulu cave,sibuti,bekenu etc
That was a kind gesture from Josie given the fact that she's in KL and it looks like a hearty breakfast. Enjoy Miri.
❤️❤️❤️👍🏼
Ken
You should make a trip to Brunei too. Alot to see especially about the royalties.
We call it terung asam.
I SAW the STILL unripe Pineapple Steve hugs so dearly.... Don't think you'll be eating that as it was prematurely plucked (that is if that's the one Michael 'borrowed' during the off track adventure.... LOL
When you have considered to travel to Brunei ,I would like to invite you to come and spend 1 2 days in another isolated unique place which is belonged to Sarawak called Limbang. There are few great Restaurants which serve Sarawak Cuisine and I can give my assurance that you gonna enjoy the meals.
Hi good morning everybody watching wow so yummy I like eat ang sarap 🇵🇭🌎⭐⭐⭐❤❤
I'm from Miri :D Maybe if you're coming again then I can suggest some places for food. :P
Also no one calls rice side dish.

Fasting bro is brunei's youtuber ..u can try texting him...
KEN YOUR AT THE SHOP WHERE MY HOUSE IS BEHIND IT!
oh.. you should go to mulu cave.. its very beautiful inside.
3:29 Wait. Have you guys try Sarawak's 3 layers Tea yet? It's a milk tea, except that they make it 3 layers - milk(above), tea(middle), and Apong sugar(bottom).
Apong sugar is Sarawak version of palm sugar, just like Gula Melaka. It's extract from the Apong tree.
I tried it in my first video from borneo ✌️
@@KenAbroad I see. My bad then. Guess UA-cam didn't notify it for me, even though I really subscribed to you since you first video after the first MCO in KL, and clicked the bell button for 'All'.
Hi Ken 👋 Great last day of the trip. Request you to please make a trip across Burnie using the land route once it's open. 😎👍
When you come Miri bro? Come to Miri Agin bro...no Gula no add sugar!... Come Miri plzz
Tbh the Mirian business owners, big or small, are waiting for the Sungai Tujoh border to open. Unfortunately Brunei will only open the land border on 1st August the earliest. Only then you will see empty buses from Brunei coming back to Brunei full with goods 😂
Welcome to Miri guy's ❤️ lovely people, lovely food yah.
Sabah!....sabah!....sabah!!!....roadtrip!!
