    Just got them today. Your recommendation didn’t hurt. Good for those w low volume, prominent big toe. The red part being stiffer edges and toes better on rock, back part red prob for durability

    I used the Akyras on my CT thru hike. They’re very durable and performed well. Not quite as durable as Salomon 3D XA Pro that I’ve used in the past, but they are more comfortable for me.

    They dont feel clumsy when you´re running, just solid and stable? Obviously its a not a light shoe but hiking shoe slash trailrunner, but thats just what Im looking for, to replace my Asics Gel Fujitrabuco 8 also a very stable and grippy shoe.

    I’m looking into purchasing new shoes or boots. Would you feel comfortable wearing your Akyras, perhaps with low gaiters, on hikes that you might otherwise have worn your TRKs on? Followup question, do Akyras accept crampons reasonably? I’m currently looking at either Akyras, Ultra Raptors, or boots like the Scarpa Zodiac Plus’. I liked your TRK review, it’s a shame they’re discontinued. I worry Trango techs or Zodiac techs would be too brutal for long approaches. I would appreciate any advice. Love the guides!

      I am pretty much 100% akyras on hikes now except if there is snow or very cold temperatures. They don't accept crampons (the sole is too loose) but you can easily make them work with Microspikes. I like the Trango GTX, didn't realize they were discontinued, but you are right - for me at least, with super long miles they can make your feet very sore. Think its down to personal preference between boots and shoes, but for me I don't see a day I will be going back to boots for dry hiking.

    I was wondering if the shoe started to get a little more room with time or if the shoe started to expand a bit more with time? I would like to know as I recently bought them and because my one foot is a bit longer than the other I feel like it fits a little tighter on one foot while the other fits perfectly. btw I have no pain when walking or hiking on my one shoe. thanks

    Great Shoe, you should also consider the g-grip stuff from Inov8, It makes the La Sportiva Rubber look like hobo trash can fire(and I am long time user of the mutant)

    Do I need to go half a size up for these shoes ?

    • @TheVirtualSherpa
      @TheVirtualSherpa  4 місяці тому

      Likely yes - but all depends on how your feet are shaped. If you are used to La Sportiva's they should fit the same, if you have not worn a pair before, would highly recommend trying a pair on.

      I've owned a pair of La Sportiva Ultra Raptors the last couple of years, they were 44.5 size. The fit is okay, but after couple of hours of walking when the foot swells up, it tends to get tight in there, especially if I wear winter socks.@@TheVirtualSherpa
