- Link to shoes below \\ Winter is coming! Time to decide on a pair of winter trail running shoes. If you're a fan of Gore-Tex waterproofing then the La Sportiva Akyra might be the shoe for you. Christof wouldn't shut up about these shoes when we ran the Haute Route so either these shoes are good shoes or Christof is a great liar. Link to shoes below.

Awsome shoes, I have been using them together with the Ultra Raptor and Akasha for over 7 years now. A bit on the heavier side but great if you neeed well protected, well structured, stable and comfortable shoes for the mountains.
I can’t do any waterproof running shoe, unfortunately. My feet sweat too much. Since I’ve figured that out, I haven’t gotten a blister with any shoe brand. Love the gear reviews guys!
I haven't hiked in years and bought GTX trailrunners. I'm afraid of getting blisters so I ordered some Silverlight socks also. Not cheap for a european to order them but they are highly recommended by many for blister prevention. I hope better socks will counter the non breathability of GTX. Have to wait and see.
I have some La Sportiva TX-4 approach shoes and they've been amazing for my adventures in the Rockies. They're like a hybrid hiking/climbing shoe, great for scrambling, but could be ran in too.
Thanks, good to know, Christof! - I also have a wide foot, and so that is particularly good information!
Nice review and sweet gear room!
Great review but what hat is that which you are wearing? It’s awesome
Look very comfy! But I love my speedcross 4's
I like my trail running shoes to be burly. I'll have to check these out.
so this is the famous christof? funny to see him and not only hear about him. :)
Looks like a great shoe, thanks.
Do i need to go half a size up for the shoes ?
too heavy - wish they made a kaptiva with stickier rubber outsole that didn't weigh a lot more.
Do you guys find you have to size up with La Sportivas? I always have go up a size from normal to fit them properly.
I sized up 1/2 size and it was perfect.
½ size up for me as well.
I was wondering if the shoe started to get a little more room with time or if the shoe started to expand a bit more with time? I would like to know as I recently bought them and because my one foot is a bit longer than the other I feel like it fits a little tighter on one foot while the other fits perfectly. btw I have no pain when walking or hiking on my one shoe. thanks
