For everyone who missed it, an excerpt from the FAQ on Kickstarter: I missed the Kickstarter campaign or I want to add more contents to my pledge. How can I do this? Extra production copies from this campaign (Core box, Expansions and Accessories) will be put on the Serious Poulp webstore (coming in early July), once all deliveries have occurred. We will send out a Newsletter when they become available: www.seriouspoulp.com/en/subscribe
Genuinely the best purchase I've made in a while. I did have to pay a little more from someone on eBay, but it was definitely worth the price. As a solo player, it's my favourite game to play
I got the core box and Crystals Song curse from their website recently. It looks like they offer a couple of expansions with 3 curses each but they are about $50-$60 each. I'm this close to pulling the trigger especially after watching this video. Thoughts?
Fantastic game, so happy with this project and can't wait to see what they do next with this system (they say they are working on it as a separate game not an expansion)
This was the first game I backed on KS, based on reviews of the first release. I have zero regrets - yeah it cost a lot but I’ll be playing this with my wife and daughter for many years to come; great value in my opinion. I grew up on Fighting Fantasy / Bloodsword / CYOA books as a kid, so I just had to get this and ... so far ... it has not disappointed.
Yet to find a mistake. Looks like TIME Stories could learn from them a bit considering they cant fo 50 cards without typos. Also make sure you check the latest TIME Stories faq before the live play. Building the whole continent seems like a job for your children.
Put it all together, if you arent doing specific curses you wont see much of it and it will add some fun extra encounters when you place other curses too!
Most definitely yes. You combine all the cards together (in order of course). Then you can choose which curse(s) to play. There are some optional cards you can put in the action deck for some of the expansions at your choice, or if you don't want to play with a particular expansion (eg. Fear the Devourers) you can just ignore those cards when you draw them and draw again. Each expansion has a unique letter prefix for the card number (the small number, eg. A0056 not the area number "012").
My copy (base + expansion) should arrive monday. Should I play it with just the base game first or jump right into some of the expansion content? Maybe the base game but with the other characters? Should I mix the cards in right away? As someone who has never played it yet, how should I jump in? What should I incorporate or should I just leave the expansion sealed until I have experienced the whole base game campaign?
Sort all the cards into proper order. All expansions # cards should go into the box in number sequence. Start with Crystal Song or Voracious Goddess. Skip adding the expansion action cards like flying roots or add them in + the prodigy mode for a bit of balance. Just make sure you give a quick shuffle to each same number and colored terrain / exploration card sets.
Save yourself the hassle, sort them all at once. If you don't want to use weather effects, or fear the devourers or what ever expansion, just draw a second card if one of those cards come up.
One word: LOCATION. That's what so many games fail to recognize and this game just gets (and gives!). Storytellers will tell you, it's all about balancing the immersion trifecta: Character, Event, and Location. The first two? Most games get those. Deck building, action selection, variable player powers, they all get characters well and events as well. But location seems to be the one concept most games (outside of dungeon crawls with a plethora of tiles) simply fail to see the importance of. 7th Continent masters the art of exploration because of it's card-locations but mostly it gets the underlying immersive experience gamers crave and it's all because they balance characters and events with engrossing locations.
Round Tuit The expansions are designed to add to the experience of any curse so by all means feel free to add them in! But if it is your first playthrough for any curse it may make things a bit more confusing. I’m just about to finish the first curse and so far everything fits without the expansions and I’m only just getting my head around the mechanics. Otherwise the cards fit into one another perfectly. If a curse takes you to one area it will reference the cards it needs to for that area with or without the expansions. But if there are added multiples of cards (the same number but slightly different picture) from the expansions it will only make the journey that more epic!
It's a great game! I enjoy playing it, but the campaign style of it meant I personally wouldn't be able to get it to the table often. Will always say yes to playing though!
sadly most people who see this review will never be able to buy/play it. I got lucky and was able to get in on KS 2.5. I went all in on Toms original 7C review.
This was my 1st KS/boardgame intro experience ever (originally ordered in 2017) and it was not a good one. I've since moved on but am encouraged by all the positive reviews. Think I'll crack it open soon. The whole exploration thing really intrigued me.
Kickstarter arrived the other day, had never heard of this game before, partner had bought it for us. After hearing about it now I'm disappointed that we didn't grab all the expansions and stuff too just the base box and expansion box :(
By the time the second campaign launched I was just barely checking Kickstarter and I wasn’t watching board game content on UA-cam so I completely missed the Kickstarter. Does anyone know if they have plans to go to retail this time or launch another Kickstarter?
Any thoughts on Tainted Grail by Awaken Realms anyone? Too similar experience to this one / not at all the same? Has The Dice Tower covered anything of it yet?
Will this be available to purchase anywhere? I've looked everywhere for it, and outside of insane priced versions on Ebay, I can't seem to find it anywhere... Edit: NVM, read the comments further down and got my answer... Hope I manage to get hold of a copy for me and my girlfriend...
My problem with this game is that it's not available retail. I missed the Kickstarter and this game is extremely price-inflated on Ebay, which is the only place to get it. :-(
The biggest problem of this game is, that i can't get it for less than a fortune if you missed the kickstarter. The other problem is, that i need it localized to not play it alone :(
There will be some copies for official sale after the Kickstarter according to the latest mails from serious poulp :) so spare your fortune a bit longer
I was hoping to hear just a little about the app and what you think of it, but I guess you have not reached that part of the game to actually talk about it.
@@edwinocasio3400 if you read the kickstarter updates. They talk about an app but you have to get to a certain part of the game in order to use the app. That is all I know without any spoilers.
Dragon Knights of Antar this will never be commercially available so finding a second hand copy is your only hope. There should be a lot of them and reasonably priced before long.
sonofa... where's my copy? You didn't spill the contents XD It must have been really loud dropping that box, though. The original was already quite heavy. My previous issue with the game was exploration is limited. You can only make so many mistakes before the journey becomes clearly impossible to fulfill. Vague directions don't help in this case and almost requires luck, or (an aspect I find you shouldn't be using since this is supposed to be a first time endeavor each playthrough) memory of previous sessions. 3 players is the optimal number to have in the game; more cards can be held. It makes little sense what benefits one character has magically gets shared with everyone else who is with them and only with them. Game doesn't run well with splitting the group to cover more ground. You lose more cards this way than traveling together. You are punished more than rewarded for removing discovered land cards (saving/loading, resting or running out of table space) because of how movement/exploration works. I'd say the game is far from perfect, but it is fun and that is what matters most.
There will be some copies for sale on the serious poulp site after the Kickstarter has finished. So whoever has missed the Kickstarter still has a chance without getting ripped
I really wish if this expansion was more widely available and more compact. I love the new components, but it does seem overindulgent - like the game should have come with a "regular" expansion in a small box, and a separate, "luxury" pack, only for people who reall want the whole shebang.
"i love 7th continents.. it's one of my favorite games in the world.." yeah, exactly 7th favorite game.. after Africa, Asia, Europe, Americas, Antarctica and Aussieland..
I really didn't like this game... it was very boring with 3 player. And the rewind function is horrible if you've played for 7 hours and die and then need to redo everything all over again just because.
Dear Dice Tower, why in the heck would you review a game nobody can get. I saw the kickstarter for this plus the main game but did not have $300+ for it or felt that kind of cash is worth it for paper. Stick to reviewing games that we can actually get via B&M or webstores.
Well, then I (and thousand other people) are nobody, because we got this game. So why not review it? And besides, you can always get it in the secondary market.
Your argument that you couldn't get it because you didn't want to spend X amount of money on components you didn't think are worth it, I think falls flat. That applies to literally every game out there. This game has been up on kickstarter for a very long time, you were able to late pledge it until recently and Serious Poulp is going to sell the remainder on their website. You will be able to get it if you want to.
Bamboozled Great Crowd! I have the original and the expansion. I don’t understand your issue. But in all seriousness, why not review it and draw attention to the indie developer/designers. They are working on their next project using the same game mechanic but a whole new adventure and theme. Add them on KS and get in on the next game when it launches...
@@Atlas-FM8 If you got the base game plus expansion plus extras it was $300+ since this game was only available on kickstarter very few copies exist and even less extras. Secondary market out of the question with inflated prices. This review should have been done during the KS campaign not after.
It’s rare that I agree 100% with everything Tom says in a review, but I agree 100% with everything Tom says. Phenomenal expansion.
How do you know? Have you already played it? I'm still waiting for mine..
Angel Alita yep! Got mine 1.5 weeks ago and have already put in around 20 hrs into it. Hope you get yours soon!

So glad I went All In on this project. Kudos to Serious Pulp.
Glad I grabbed EVERYTHING for the 7th :D
Yeah I gambled on this with KS and it actually paid off ^__^ I am playing through the base game for the first time.
Nooo I lost my first game XD
I don't think I even got very far haha but it was a lot of fun.
Yeah, on the 1st KS I got a lot, but not all content. Glad the expansion was there for me to rectify that mistake.

Good question. I was going to ask that. I think i will add it in to the base game.
That time range is like experiencing some major mood swings
Is the idea to mix the expansion in and play always like that? Like if you dont use the new curses will you be bothered by it playing regularly?
Im still not sure if I should trash the cartbord figures for the minis, doesnt make sense to keep both
I have the base game and expansion. Should my first game include the expansion immediately? Or should I play the base game only first?
Yes
Add everything. Then play starting curses. There is a recomended order of play for the cursrs on their website.
