most heaters from china are 4kw , they are great ,run it on a 70% 30 mix kerosene ,diesel ,it will burn better also run it flat out for 5mins at the end every time you use it to stop soot build up ,it will then be trouble free
I’ve got a length of kingspan which I slide my door up to it’s cut to shape for a snug fit then I’ve just cut a round hole in to put pipe through into van it that makes sense
100% get a carbon monoxide alarm if ya usin gas in a bivvy- or a diesel heater, it may save ya life. RIP to the lads who never woke up on the bank after usin gas stoves in bivvys. I was gettin banging headaches for about a month, one mornin i goes to car, and it stank of exhaust fumes, so i put an alarm in car, it turned out the egr pipe had broke- so was gassing myself out driving to work, the headaches off carbon monoxide are horrible, I got lucky, many haven't.

Been using one in winter for about 4 years now brilliant bit of kit blow hot air straight into bivvy

Smell will almost definitely be because it’s new. Had a diesel heater in my camper for 10+ years and never a smell

Keep your exhaust flat as you will have water build up and it will show an error code
