Good honest review. I have to say I love my Clark. It was purchased when Clark was still a company. I bought this particular hammock to sleep in. I sleep great in it. I have used it for thru hiking in Fla. I sacrifice the weight for comfort. I compensate it with other light weight gear. I fold and slip my cloths in those under pockets, it works Great. The poles are a bit of a pain to slip in, but I understand they carry an improved poles. I researched the other fine hammocks, but at the end of the day the Clark is a winner.
Decent review on this hammock. I've had my NX-270 for about 4 years now. Been on many backpacking trips (and yes, it's a tad heavy), but what the hay! I'm usually packing about 60 lbs anyhow so no biggie. The interior pockets are awesome, my little .38 even fits nicely in the small pocket by my head. Also it's held up well in the years I've been using it, I'll even string it up in my living room if my back is acting up. A little pricey for some, but I love mine!
They are built like a tank. It will last you a life time. Great year-round hammock. Thank you so much for watching Rex Woodcutter. I really appreciate it.
Great review. Looking forward to camping out in mine. I added a Nemo Quasar 3D mattress and Jazz sleeping bag to that setup, I also picked up a Kammok Kuhli Pro tarp. for added protection in rain storms. Heading to Colorado next moth for a week. Not sure how this is going to all fit into my 50 Litre ruck sack with the rest of my essentials but. If it is to much weight then I guess I'll just have to hit the gym and build up my leg strength. LOL we shall see.
Hey bro hope you are well and having a great day so far. Nearly the weekend yeah. Tornado, wow that is so crazy bro. Love the little special effects you use. Great video. I just bought this NX-270 based on this video. Showed it way better than the manufacturer! just found it hard to pay attention to you with the music while you were talking. Lol... thanks again
How would you compare the NX270 to a top tier asym gathered end, like ones from Dream Hammock or Dutchware, in terms of comfort? I'm a short 5'6" backpacker at 275 solid lbs in a heavy double WB Blackbird. Hammock weight for all of my double layer hammocks puts them within the Clark weight range. I'm looking at the Clark for both organization and comfort. I tend to dump everything on my late-night nature calls when packed in winter mode especially. Thanks, you're one of the few objective and thorough people that I can get a respectable and experienced opinion on this from.
The NX270 is not the best for summertime. But shines in the other 3 seasons. Especially in winter. It is a little heavier and bulkier than the Blackbird. The shelf on the Blackbird is hard to beat for storage. I will use my Blackbird XLC in the cold temperatures and use the NX270 with the full under quilt. With the velco to attach. And with a 3/4 under quilt under that. I took that down to -35°F ( -37°C ) and was toasty warm. The dutchware gear chameleon and the Dream Hammock Sparrow are such great year-round hammocks. It looks like you have done your homework. But if I had to pick one for use year-round. I would probably would go with the Dream Hammock.
@@AdventureswiththeMarine Thanks again, I just ordered a Sparrow after a series of emails for configuration. What a great company and a level of service seldom available anymore.

Another great review. Personally I see a lot of good things in this hammock but wont be for me. I found out Monday that Dutchware is making Clark products. The Clark NX-270 needs to come in to sizes. One that is a little longer and wider. But again that would make it heavier and more bulky. But for the extreme cold temperatures. This is my go to hammock. One thing I did not mention was, when using it in the cold. I would zip the weather shield down half way and lay it over the sleeping bag to collect the frost from the condensation. This works really well. It is good to hear from you Dovahkiin's Adventure. I hope all is well.

How you pitch a tarp depends on the tarp and the person. I did a video last month that talks about this. I personally like a wide tarp. And do not mind carrying the extra once or more of weight. Because it is well worth it. With a wider tarp. You can pitch it higher. I would love to help you get the perfect hammock that would work for you. But I need to ask a few questions. What are your height and weight for the size and material? What seasons will you be using it in? For example. Only summer or spring, summer, and fall. And do you plan on trying winter camping?
@@AdventureswiththeMarine i weigh about 130 pounds and am 5'7. I aldo have a wife that weighs about 145 and is 5'2. Ik there are hammocks that fit 2 people but idk how truly effective they are. But if there aren't any good ones like that then just a hammock that can go in summer, spring, fall.
Hammocks that fits two people are hybrid hammocks in which you would need three trees to hang them. In most cases, that would be difficult to find when hiking or camping. A better way is to get two hammocks in which you hang next to one another by using a spreader bar on both heads ends. Both of you are next to each other without being cramped. This way if you want to use it for just you. Then you don't have to carry or set up a three-person hammock. What makes a three-season hammock is basically a hammock with an integrated bug net. Even better. one you can put on and take off. A four-season would be one that you take off the bug net and put on a winter cover. But the most important part of cold weather is the under quilt to keep you warm.

You just have to try to minimize as much as you can. In the morning or when I arrive at a new place. After setting up the hammock. I will drape the top quilt over my ridgeline to dry and air out. This way you can go days or weeks without your down absorbing moisture. Thank you for watching Jerry.

i bought mine just before they introduced the pole version, and mine came with a camo tarp as standard. no hammock as far as i am aware is designed to be used with out a tarp. the weathershield is only there to keep moderate weather off.
Great review of the Clark hammock 😉👍 although this hammock is not for me . I have the Warbonnet ridgerunner with the spindrift and 0 degree underquilt and quilt. Just that you need 14 + feet between trees. It is an interesting concept though👍
A week or so ago. I was in my Riderunner. I believe that is the best hammock for the summer. And no hammock rewards you not only with comfort. But also with the best view that any hammock can offer. I have yet to try the Spindrift. What are your thoughts on it?

Excellent guess. I have been shooting most of my tutorials at the Kinnickinnic State Park. I have been experiencing the mosquitos that are now coming in flocks. I think that they are trying to put on weight for the winter. Thank you for watching Pete.
Ha! That false sense of security thing. Regardless whether you're in a tent of in a hammock, in a sleeping bag, or wrapped in a poncho, to a big ol' brown bear you'll be looking like a nice candy bar to be unwrapped. Trust me. I know from experience. Greetings from Alaska.
We think that being in a tent or a hammock we are safe. That they will provide safety some how. If that is how we see a hammock and a tent. Than a big ol' brown bear will see them as a Bear Burrito ( hammock ) and a Meadow Marshmallow ( tent ). Thank you for watching Shipfixer 2006.
Even at 6FT. it is a tight fit. That is why I only use it in extreme cold temperatures. With a lot of down warped around me. Thank you for watching The Big Fellar. I always appreciate it.

i bought mine just before they introduced the pole version, and mine came with a camo tarp as standard. no hammock as far as i am aware is designed to be used with out a tarp. the weathershield is only there to keep moderate weather off.
Same here. I'll be sticking with my old Warbonnet Blackbird. I use it in bike trips on my KLR. It's served me well many a mile in all weather. Greetings from Alaska.
The sounds all crazy on this one, did someone get a hold of your editing software and prank you or something?
Those darn Gnomes are back. I will have to call Pest Control again.
Thank you for watching Danny. Hopefully we will be Gnome free on the next video.
Scaring me with those sound effects. Haha
Trying to be different. Maybe a little to different. It is always good to hear from you Remy.
Great review and I love your videos, but not a fan of the sound effects etc :-(
Thank you Aliessil for your input. Which I really appreciate. I went a little too much on the sound effects. From now on I will be using them very sparingly. Thank you for always watching.
Why didnt you just say how much it weighed? I mean, you were talking about the weight of it...
Oops!!! Sorry, I should of had it in there. Thank you for watching The Bearded GOrilla. I really appreciate it.
Sure looks like the kinni :)
Won't work for me too tall. I am . 6 foot is cutting out a lot of men and women . Who's in charge up there Santa or the elves . Peace.
Even at 6FT. it is a tight fit. That is why I only use it in extreme cold temperatures. With a lot of down warped around me. Thank you for watching The Big Fellar. I always appreciate it.
I'm 5 10 and I have plenty of room. I doubt 2 inches would make a difference in the room I have.
Looks too small
A little cramped and a little shoulder squeeze. Not an all around hammock. But great for the winter time. And for the North Pole. If there where only trees to hang.
