Just wondering Andy.Do you get special dispensation for riding during lockdown or are you just sticking 2 fingers up at this ludicrous lockdown especially as we bikers have more protection on than your average UK resident.?

As making videos on UA-cam is my "job" and I cant review bikes from home, I am within the rules riding for the purposes of making videos. I have taken legal advice on this. I haven't ridden my own bikes (or any bikes) for fun since before Christmas - which is gutting as I've only been able to ride the Goldwing I bought once so far!

Why don’t you just do a comparison video between the Trident and a Goldwing? 😏

dear mr curtain Twitcher. You may have missed the Stasi directive that makes WORKING a legal occupation during lockdown and believe it or not riding and reviewing motorcycles is what this guy does FOR A LIVING. I know that must upset your Communist complete obedience narrative and ideology but hey we all put up with curtain twitching snitches like you who do not seem to have any social life without making a big deal of it
No doubt you are one of those terrified pathetic individuals who have bought into the project fear campaign and drive about in your own car ALONE wearing a mask to comply with a non existent law LOL

I couldn't even get insurance quotes on Street Triple RS's, I'd only just past my test as an early 50 something ! A very reliable source from Triumph's U.S. Sales Management Team told me that 50% of the Tridents allotted to the U.S. are already sold. He was not trying to sell me one, he's a friend. So yes, they'll probably sell all they ship here to the U.S.

Was not really impressed with the looks at first, but saw it at a local dealership last week. Definitely looks better in the flesh! The tail looks really neat in particular, they did not slam on just a piece of plastic as a mudguard but the actually put some lines on it. And it eliminates the need for a costly tail tidy, with the benefit of not having a wet back at the end of the day :)

Great review and I really hope this bike is a success for Triumph. It's good to see bikes of this size coming back into vogue. I'm old enough to remember when the 600 category was the most competitive sector in biking (in the UK anyway) but nowadays manufacturers seen too often to spend all there development budget on bigger and more powerful bikes. Really like that TFT and I'm hoping that it finds it's way onto some of the 2021 Bonneville range.

Reviewers continually refer to it as a beginner bike. I've owned several different styles of bikes over the years. At 74 I don't need a super sport bike and don't desire a bulky cruiser. This is a perfect balance between occasional chats with the local police officer and loud and boisterous bulky cruiser. As good as it is good for the beginner it is more equally good for the finisher. Another great review.

Excellent review as always. I agree about the looks, and particularly the rear half of bike. I've never understood the desire some people have for that 'cut off' look, which leads many XSR owners for example to ditch the rear mudguard/fender. Looks awful. Overall the bike seems to sound and ride far better than it looks. In the end how it feels to ride should be most important. Trouble is I can't spend money on something that doesn't make me happy when I look at it...

Excellent introductory review Andy. I'd be very keen to see a close up in depth look at the new TFT in it's workings though. Looks proper, and I WISH Triumph would redesign the layout on the Tiger 900 screen! Ditch that dual rev counter look. It doesn't work and takes up valuable user interface % of the screen. (Make it more like the GS screen, or even the new Indian TFT which looks WONDERFUL! That one has full touch screen control).

The 660 reminds me so much of my 09' 675 Stripple. I loved that bike and had it for about 5 years. I might be getting this bike for having fun with. I'm more practical now and am more attractive to retro bikes now. I just sold my 2012 Bonnie. I've had that for 9 years and cafed it out. I'm looking for an exciting new ride now with this kind of power. If only Triumph put this in a light weight, low seat hight retro. That would be my dream bike.

A Honda CB750 Four was the equivalent of £7500 when it was released in 1969, so bike prices aren’t a million miles away from what they used to be.

    • @moier3345
      @moier3345 3 роки тому

The Tuono looks gorgeous and I think that bike is able to perform at a level I will never achieve as a rider. But I am not fond of ALL the tech onboard. I prefer a bike that gives you a good experience without overwhelming you with options for all the settings. I get on my bike (XSR700) and simply want to have a good time on a twisty road. There are some modern features that are really cool, ABS is essential. Or take a TFT like this bike has or the one on the Ninja 650 that lets you connect your smartphone to it and then works as a navigation device without having to bolt on an ugly phone or gps holder. Or a set of two riding modes, one for rain and one giving you full power. But bikes like the Tuono then add five riding modes, 12 levels of traction control + abs interference levels and 6 levels of anti-wheelie control. That's a bit too much for me personally. I just wouldn't be interested or able to "feel the difference" between mode 1 and 9. I really think Triumph got it right here. Make a decent bike with power one can actually use without risking their license all the time and give people some of the modern features that seem useful for average Joe without overdoing it.
Perfect bike for me? 60 to 100 HP, 2 or 3 cylinder engine, a chassis that can potentially take more than the average rider could throw at it on any standard road and a couple of modern features like a TFT display with gps navigation via your phone. I think the Triumph Trident would tick most of those boxes...

I also watched several videos where Triumph technicians explained their target market thus naked means it's never intended for trackday usage. The tweaking of the performance is to enable less servicing which the technicians did emphasize. That said,I do think it's a great bike just not one I would own as I do prefer a screen of some kind(& I'll never be in a position to buy another new bike,as I spent my inheritance on a new MT-09 almost 2 years ago)

Bought Gore-Tex gloves from RevIt a couple of years back (Chevak GTX) for 90£ or so - never regretted a single penny. Still have them, still wear them now (since I ride all year round except in snowy and icy conditions). As a matter of fact, I wore them this Monday when I rode to work in the neighboring country of Slovenia (distance ~320km one way, I commute like that about twice a month and set off at night between 12PM and 3AM).
In December last year they kept my hands during that commute in usable condition (not warm, but not frozen either) at ambient temp of -4 degrees C on the motorway at 120kph+ for more than 2 hours continuously.
I did wear undergloves though, since you're not supposed to ride at those temps for that long at motorway speeds (what can I say, I'm a bit nuts lol). Oh, and I also don't have heated grips or hand guards on my Versys 650, so draw your own conclusions as to how good these gloves really are.
I also rode so much in rainy conditions that the velvety bit for wiping the visor is completely worn out on my left glove but the gloves still remain dry. lol
For someone who rides like me, it's Gore-Tex and nothing but Gore-Tex to stay dry and warm. Worth the price and then some!

I also read about the Triumph Track system and there isn't much information about it or videos i.e cost and the process of how it all works if you're unfortunate enough to lose your bike to thieves ,
I've also been looking into buying a bike and not everyone can afford to buy outright I think it would be great if you could do a bit on the buying side, as PCP is being pushed by dealers and hire purchase and loans all have their good points and bad. Thanks for your great videos and I look forward to the next one.

Instruments look a bit small; I’ll need my glasses. I don’t like the headlight so close to the tft screen. Bigger headlight could improve that.
I fear that the back wheel mudguard won’t keep you dry and clean. The bike will be very dirty.
More upright seating position is good, especially when you get older.
