- Just a simple Documentation video about fixing my MSI GS40 with Left Fan Rattle problem, I hope this is not only useful on GS40, but other MSI Laptops too
MSI Should Concern about this problem, because this is not a cheap laptop and should fix it at the next generation.
These laptops are expensive, you'd think some extra thought goes into building them!!

@@lt_briggzi8694 i just opened it and cleaned it with dust spray in a deep way. If that didn't work , you must change the fan.
I just f up my keyboard now half my keys dont work so :(
@@lt_briggzi8694 dont go rough on opening the laptop. Plus , spray the electronic spray part dor dust removal on a authentic brand, if that all didnt work, go to your nearest retail store even if your out of warranty.
I’ve had a gs65 stealth thin laptop for only a month and this issue has already appeared on my top left fan... on such a high end laptop I’m farely disappointed by what just happened... I’m worried nobody will give me an answer to the problem at their customer support service... ANYONE help pls

well, I think the problem are same, you should go to SC to check and fix
I have the stealth. Its because of a wire that near the fan. You have to void your warranty and move the wire away. maybe adding electrical tape to make it sturdy.

I have an MSI GL62 and i have a noise problem, sometimes i can fix it by turning off and turning back on again, but not always. i'm scared to take it apart because i might do something wrong or scratch something lol

I have a GL62 too. I tried opening it but I couldn't open the screws covered by the DVD drive. It's like Satan himself screwed them in. It's strange because I opened it when it was new to install an SSD in the M.2 slot. Anyway I could see the fan but there were no white cubes or any other obstructions on the visible side - I'll have to remove the fan to see the other side
i got GL62 too and when i push above the fan around the keyboard the sound gone for few min then comeback again

the older msi notebooks always seem to have a fan problem, i recently fixed a ge72, required a new left fan, but replaced both instead. and gave it a good clean.
same laptop..exact problem..happened just the night before. i was going to return it to MSI for warranty, but this fix was much faster!

I've had a similar problem. Both of the fans in my GS70 Stealth Pro began to fail. One more than the other. So I replaced them and of course the problem disappeared, for a few weeks..
Then one if them started acting up. In the same place the other one started acting up aswell.
I have no clue what to do. I don't think the fans have any of those cubes that you have. But it's strange since the other one is perfect and the other one not at all. I have to open it up and see if I can do anything about it. I can't even use it without the fan cranking up, even more when I play.

Reef Blie That's the strange thing, it doesn't have any cubes at all. I'm beginning to think that the fan is in a certain position at first, then after a while it "hangs down" or something. Causing that noise.
I was thinking of making my own cubes and putting there to see if it works. The fans are pretty new so I have no clue what to do really.
Make sure the sound comes from the fan, as far as i know, MSI laptop have 2 fans, you can check the rpm on the Dragon gaming center and it should be easy to determine which fan that caused the noise.
And if there is no cube, try to spin the fan manually, maybe you will get the answer
i have the same laptop, bought it about 5 years ago.
Can't tell if i love it or hate it. the case starts falling of, windows stopped working so i had to download a new one 3 times, often i get the blue screen, one of my fans just stopped working, my volume get softer after i pause a movie and i can't get it louder so i have to use headphones, etc ....
but damn, this thing can handle 100 chrome tabs and it's not slowing down
Very useful guide, thank you for posting. A word of warning, however, to others: I'm fairly certain the US-spec models have 8 screws in the back panel, rather than the 9 you mentioned. I may have missed one, but the panel came away very easily, so I don't think that's likely.
And to clarify for others, one of the screws is beneath the warranty sticker. You must pierce or remove it.
Again, thank you. Just a warning, because I spent ten minutes looking for a ninth screw.
I don't know if the GS40 has more than 1 version, maybe the specs is also different?

I just gave my laptop a nice smack on the chassis and the sound went away.. Although my one is a dell inspiron
I used to do that but that doesn't work anymore. What used to be a subtle tap became banging on the fucking thing. I'm surprised it still works! Time to save up to be a new one.
Same noise coming from my Toshiba Satelite laptop, it's extremely annoying, hopefully I have the same problem as this. Thanks for a solution.
Same here its broke, I replaced the fan like 3 times already and its still doing this sometimes it works if I just turn it off and shake it around a bit but then it starts again

In my MSI GE72, it was different, there is no white cube present inside.. I just clean the fan and done.. I'm actually curious why my laptop doesn't have that white cubes..

Christian C i clean the fan with only a wet tissue.. it always clogged up with dust easily.. i cleaned it everytime it starts to sound which is every once a month after it first making those horrible noise.. i hope msi find a way to counter this problem in their newer generation gaming laptop..

I havent taken it apart ... already confirmed to order new fan, its only 50 dollars.
My laptop is: MSI GE62 2QD Apache. Do i cancel the order and try to take it apart or not ?
If you're unsure about what happen to the fan, maybe should go to the SC
Check if the laptop's battery has gone bulgy or inflated. They used a cheap battery which inflates, can bend the laptop and cause issues.
actually, the planted battery are more expensive.

I think this is my issue, but I feel like mine is too little to late as it’s been happening for months, until it made this weird sound until it sounded like it was gonna explode..
Getting a rattling sound similar to this but slightly quieter in my brand new GE75 Raider. This is the THIRD mechanical issue I've dealt with, not to mention the fact that the pre-downloaded software for the keyboard isn't compatible with the laptop itself. For 2200 dollars this is a fucking joke.

hey 2020 user here, of another MSI laptop, I got one of those foam cubes in my laptop fan, it makes it sound rancid, had to open the entire fan to get it out, be safe with these...
My laptop has been like this for weeks but none of my screwdrivers are small enough to remove these crews and all harware stores are closed due to quarantine :(

I have a MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro. There are three fans on this computer. There are 2 GPU Fans on this unit. When the GPU Fans are spinning it is making, buzzing, sounds when going to a higher RPM on it. It sounds like the GPU Fans are off balance? I was using the Dragon Center to edit the fans in the computer. The only computer fan I have running is the CPU Fan on the computer. There are a little bit of sounds coming from the CPU Fan on the computer. But not as nosy as the GPU Fans. Can someone help me fix this problem?
as far as I know, GPU Fans running based on heat sensor, and hotter GPU resulting in faster Fans

i had the same problem, im using a GIGABYTE AERO 15 and looked fro solution and it seems that this is not a specific brand proble, it could happen to any laptop from any brand. I bought my laptop January 2018 and thinking about to open it myself but Im afraid im going to void the warranty. But im having school projects in a few days and i have to use my laptop so im trying to consider taking it apart myself or wait and take it to gigabyte.
you should contact the customer service, at some brands, not every laptop opening will void the warranty

I have this problem with my OMEN 15 gaming laptop, I filmed rattling and but on my channel aswell. This laptop is more complicated tot ake apart I think, so I will have it serviced sometime with week... New Dota 7.00 patch I've been wating for months and now too afraid to play because of my laptop. GG!
I think the Omen's inside design is different with MSI, but if the case is same, you should not use your laptop, still a bit worry if the cube is sucked

Would opening the hatch void the warranty? I have been having this problem for a while and Im worried that I may not be able to fix it due to the warrenty.
Please read the warranty terms, it stated that pelled the warranty sticker will void the warranty, but when I ask the official support, they said that even opening the hatch not void the warranty if you just do cleaning purpose
it depends on your country, we have laws in America that protect the consumer and allows them to open up their hardware, some countries do not and must abide by their countries laws.

I have the GS43VR (not even a month old) and it started making this noise today too. Fucking MSI, I'm thinking of returning it and getting one of the bigger versions (GS63/73) in hopes of not having this issue.
If inside the back cover designed exactly like this, then there is a chance to face this problem in the future, But we always hope that MSI is caring about users feedback. Good Luck

my GL62 started with the loud fan from brand new pretty much, lots of people joked it sounded like a jet taking off!
Same problem with weird ass sounds coming from left fan (GE72). Decided to look for support.. in order for it to get repaired i had to send it 600km to Poland.. hell nah.. i just got a new fan and got it installed by a licensed company in the neighbourhood was about a 60€ repair. No white cubes on mine so didnt know how to fix it myself...
Msi had a lot of problems with their fans and components. Sad i didnt knew that before i bought it..

pas rattling itu speed fan turun drastis jadi dibawah 1000
kalo gak ada kubusnya, berarti masalahnya bukan kubus, mungkin ada kotoran atau komponen lain yang keisep masuk di fan
