I thought the moral was more with Sweetie Belle's statement that it's hard to speak up to those who are older and more experienced to you (even though Apple Bloom herself spoke up a lot, clearly). I know I relate with Sweetie Belle the most of the CMC, but I personally am cripplingly introverted, not very assertive, especially with authoritative figures, or rather, family members who are older than me. I may not be very objective with this but that's just my opinion. AJ was a bit disrespectful to her sister, for real, but AJ being stuck in tradition I was hoping wold tie into her parents in some way in the future, even moreso outside the Apple family. And yeah Scootaloo chicken was terrible but they redesigned it as a phoenix so I choose to believe Scoots was going for a flaming phoenix. I see the CMC really coming into more of their own: Sweetie Belle - traditional crafts, crocheter (more relaxed & didn't care how slow she was going) Scoots - Wings on her cart even though not being able to fly (Embracing her shortcomings, inability to fly/handicap), explorer, and AB being more of a daredevil than her family. The episode was different but not horrible. I felt the setup for an MLP game, but I dunno. And the CMC's harmonies in the song was great. Sweetie really needs her own solo. Awesome as always, Sir.
No worries. Your post commentary is still awesome. I think everyone has more time to get their thoughts & ideas together after some time of ruminating about the episode. :)
Why do I have the feeling, that Rarity would be perfect as Sharon Stone from "Basic Instinct"? Imagine the story: the Crusaders are publishing her diary where she writes about the murder on "a clumsy flyer" and derpy is killed shortly after that. And of course the scene with the canterlot guards :D
To me, this was another "Show Stoppers " episode and yet, this one is slightly more fun to watch. Honestly now that you brought up the subject on not being able to see who won the ribbons in the end; I kinda feel that there was a missed opportunity to do a split screen on the end credits with a last scene showing the ribbon award ceremony on top and the credits rolling below. It could have been another unique end credits thing like they did with Quibble's continuous dialogue from the last episode.
Yeah, that would've been a great idea for the credits! Oh well, can't change it now. And yeah, like I said, I was getting Show Stoppers vibes, but this one turned out way better. Of course, having their big sisters help out really helped a lot, as opposed to back in Show Stoppers, where they tried to do everything on their own.
23:39 RD cheering on Scootaloo was so sweet and cute I love it so much! I love them! I think they’re my fav as far as sibling dynamic in this show. They’re always so cute! Also Scoot saying “they’re all our older sisters, practically” was great! Mannnnnnn I just love them
Ooh, good point. Well for that matter, there were many colts and fillies that appeared in CotLM that didn't make it into this episode. They seem to be very hit and miss in terms of which ones they show from one episode to the next. I guess you could sort of explain it away by saying that there aren't enough seats in that school house for all the young ponies we've seen, so there's likely more than one actual class for the same grade level.
Obviously, Scootaloo has taken Tyrion Lannister's wisdom to heart. ;-P "Never forget what you are, Chicken. The Bronies won't. Wear it like armour, and it can never be used to hurt you." /jk
2:49 physics in kindergarten, they learn younger every time. 7:27 LoL, the Rainbow Dash poster that pinkie made in "Pinkie pride" 7:55 Why don't they notice that, when ever they say that, it ends up bad? 9:18 My reaction exactly, though it raises a question. Seeing filly Derpy next to filly Rarity, puts them around the same age. But does that mean that Dinky isn't Derpy's daughter, but rather her sister? It would explain the scene in "Flutter brutter". 14:53 Yea, at first that Apple Bloom did the painting I was like, "how the heck did you do that with one paint brush?" and then came Apple Jack "And how the HECK did you do that with a roller?". 15:08 I'm not the best in fashion sense, but I found that the yellow lays soothed the car. 16:55 oh look, Cheera"leader". yes it is a bad pun and no, I'm not taking it back. 16:59 Derpy and... little brother? Also, I think snips' dad is a barber. (just look at the cart) Only thing missing now is Dasterly and mudly (I hope I'm saying this right) 24:17 Double LoL, your freak out was hilarious. 44:12 Nope, they sang in "the crusaders of the lost mark".
I just don't get why they had Rainbow Dash say 2 contradicting things a minute apart. I mean, first she says "why didn't you Say anything?", implying that they never said anything. Then she says "I suppose we could've done a better job of listening to you." implying that they heard what they said. That's pretty much my biggest problem with this episode. What's the point of saying something and then saying something that completely contradicts it a minute later?
I found the older ponies taking over very believable, and not just as a plot device. It is such a common experience, with parents or mentors getting so invested in a child's project to relive memories of their childhood, that it's become a trope. Activities that are supposed to create great memories for the kids become all about the adults, and the kids feel left out.
09:09 You know? It actually makes a lot of sense! :) She lost to Derpy, so she decided to become the most creative pony in Equestria and beat Derpy one day. And look what a creative pony she is now! :) 09:50 Not necessarily. It's not really a stereotype if it's true :) Applejack admitted it openly that they're all about traditions. 13:20 Yeah, I was hoping for that too: that they will simply trade their places. Sweetie Belle will go with Applejack (it wouldn't be the first time, after "Sisterhooves Social"), Apple Bloom will go with Rainbow Dash (they had some nice interaction in "Call of the Cutie"), and Scootaloo will go with Rarity. This would solve the problem right away and it could be fun to watch too, instead of yelling "Y U NOT...!" at the screen throughout the entire episode :q 14:44 Oh, I wish I could do that... :p 14:49 Or just a paint thinner? BTW notice how the colors of the fire go to the paint roller ;) Nice little detail. 15:40 Naah, she just copied the design from the Manehattan's park from "The Gift of Maud Pie" episode ;J BTW is it me or this swan kind of resembles Princess Celestia? :q 16:50 Isn't it what is supposed to be done in races? :q ;) (just kiddin' ;> ) 16:57 Hahah I wonder if Diamond Tiara even built her cart herself, or just bought it, or tell her buttler to make it for her :P (just look who's sitting in there with her). But who's that colt with Derpy and why he's not Dinky? :P 17:15 Nice cockard, Miss Cheerleaderlee ;) 17:48 What a better position to hear Squeaky Belle squeaking? :> 19:28 That would be the best ending for this episode :J 19:55 Not only that, but we finally know the plan of the roads in Ponyville! Map builders - go! (unfortunately, this will be a lot of correcting :P ) 22:00 Yup, and it's actually very symbolic, and it couldn't do its job if Scootaloo didn't use those chicken props back in the episode :> Remember that old fairy tale about the eagle who has been raised amongst chickens and he thought that he was a chicken too and couldn't fly? But then he saw another eagle flying high above in the sky and he wanted to be like that eagle? And when he grew up, he realized that he actually _is_ an eagle himself and flied? I hope they used this symbolism intentionally and it means something about Scootaloo's future ;> 23:53 Been waiting for a satisfying ending, ain't ya? :q Nope, not this time... :P But we could pretty much tell who will win what from the very beginning of the episode, ain't we? ;J There were only three ribbons after all: one for speed, one for tradition, one for creativity. And there are only three CMCs, with particular goals for the race. Could there be any other result? (Except Derpy winning the race again, which would be the best way to end it? ;> )
I know the outcome of the race was implied. It certainly appeared as though Apple Bloom was the fastest, Sweetie Belle undoubtedly had the most traditional, but the most creative was arguably still somewhat questionable. I guess what really frustrated me is that the older sisters weren't even really cheering on their siblings, except for Dash, who got glared at by the others. Between not seeing the outcome of the race, where their older sisters would have been congratulating their siblings, or seeing them actively cheer them on during the race, it just felt like a cheap ending. It should have ended on a firm note of sibling support, and it didn't.
@@applegeek2597 I don't like 'cheap' endings either. Like several episodes of The Andy Griffith Show, or as I like to call it Andy Taylor Show (since his last name was Taylor in the show) ended, basically, right after the conflict was resolved. Like one episode, there was a trio of woman criminals with the leader having a gun. And the episode ended literally right after Andy was able to take the gun from her. So yeah... I don't tend to like episodes that don't have a satisfactory ending. Although this episode is an exception.
You took the words right out of my mouth at the end of the video. That wasn't the point of the episode. Seriously dude, chill. Relax. Have some soda or iced tea.
23:50 hahaha! "WHYYY!?? ..WHY DID YOU NOT SHOW WHO WON!? ...because that wasn't the point of the episode, that wasn't the moral it..with..mmmbrbmbrd...." xDD like)
20:37 confirmed, derpy’s child is a colt and not a filly. Unless that’s derpy’s younger brother, nephew, or she simply had another child. Or she just decided to help this random colt....
It's logical finally that I think about it! Apple Bloom won because fastest car and they didn't show the race because you guessed right, time restriction seems a fair explanation!
It was kind of implied who would have won which award, but the only one we know for certain was that Sweetie Belle would have taken the "most traditional" prize, because none of the other carts even remotely looked like the old-fashioned ones.
18:56 contacts. 5-second of pit-stop penalty. 🤪 20:02 I knew it. Rainbow Dash can't make a perfectly engineered kart. 😝 37:03 Well if you work on a motorized vehicle, that level of grease is quite understandable. All the components require lubrication and adjustment. And lubricant is essentially a kind of oil, which goes everywhere when you try to fiddle with those parts. 38:57 1960s, IndyCar
Has Scootaloo expressed that she doesn't like being called a chicken in the show? I can't seem to remember a scene where she's told someone off about making a chicken joke, aside from that first scene in Scare Master.
It was Stare Master, actually, not Scare Master, but yeah, that's mainly what I was thinking of. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if there have been any further references to her being a chicken in the canon show or not, but due to all the fan content blowing it out of proportion, it's hard to forget. XD
In the beginning when the teacher said using mechanical work to convert potential energy into kinetic energy she was just using fancy words to say push something up a hill and letting it roll back down mechanical work describes the energy used to push it up and potential into kinetic energy describes letting it roll back down.
All I could really think throughout the reaction was "What an awesome shirt!" Haha. Also, what's funny, if this had been the first season of MLP, they would have probably taken the obvious route with those ribbons. Nice to see how far we've come with these characters - the episodes have their twists and aren't quite as predictable anymore.
+Masquerade Millie Ikr. The cmc's final choices actually made sense but wasn't insanely obvious in the beginning either. Especially Scootaloo's choice. She thinks herself as being much more unique and creative now instead of thinking herself as "The dumb pegasus who can't even fly" which is very good character development. If you want to see a long comment about Scootaloo's choice in detail then just look around in the comments :) I've already written a really long comment about it and don't want to write it again xD
anyone notice that snips and his fathersz cart looked like a barber pole? That suggests that his father actually works in hair and maybe that is why snips mark is scissors ( yes I know about the old ryme but they have to have the marks for reasons )
Perhaps, but at least Pinkie was able to get her family to warm up to the idea of a party with brightly-colored decorations. You can still honor traditions while also embracing new ideas, or even starting all new traditions.
I feel sorry for them so much in this episode but AppleJack was definitely the worst. She suggested to AppleBloom that she isn't Apple if she don't want a traditional car. This is really brutal for an MLP. AppleJack really let me down here.
A pretty good episode, nothing amazing but nothing bad either. A good lesson for everyone to learn. I was kind of expecting the CMC to switch sisters around, that would have been interesting to see actually, since each sister was doing the opposite of what each CMC wanted. But it was still a good decent episode overall. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
Also there's going to be a ton of Rarity gets revenge on Derpy fics. And I thought that the cart was a chicken as well which I was annoyed at, but I think that it was a phoenix actually. But yeah the fact that it looked like a chicken at first was annoying.
Rarity's revenge on Derpy, yes, let the comics roll. XD Oh, that would have been an interesting idea, switching sisters, but it would have had to happen early to make sense. I thought maybe they were going to try switching at the last minute, but then they would have been trying to win with carts they didn't actually design themselves, which wouldn't have been good. I'm actually really glad they got a proper do-over.
Applegeek Oh yes, can't wait for the Rarity getting revenge on Derpy stories to come! Yeah I just had it in my head that they were going to switch sisters; early on in the episode. Yeah that was real good of Cheerilee to let them do a good over, and while I would have liked to see who won the race like you said it wasn't about that, I hope we never find out who won; to leave it up to fan interpretation. It would be funny though if Derpy, Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon won the three ribbons though or something like that; to mess with our expectations. That would be funny lol.
Wow I usually notice things pretty well but i didn't catch snips cart being a barber pole i called it a firework like one i seen long time ago during either new yrs or independence day heh. I don't know how i missed that. But i see now that you pointed it out it is a barber pole heh.I cracked up when i seen how rarity lost her cart race it was soooo funny ha ha. I didn't like the predictability myself but otherwise very very good episode ha. when they first started racing i was hoping the mane three would loose and derpy and the rest would win. I also like the way the C.M.C.'s mixed it up when they got their chance to make their carts. Very Kool ideas. Awesome reaction. Loved watching it.
I personally thought that the CMC would pull some kind of bait-and-switch and would end up driving each other's carts or something, but that would have been missing the point, because even if they won their desired categories, they would have done it with carts that they didn't design themselves. It would have basically only been for revenge on their sisters at that point, which wouldn't have been good. This way worked best, in that they got a proper do-over to make the carts they really wanted.
+Applegeek I dont know if you talked about this in your review since I haven't seen it yet. But this episode really gave a lot of character development to one of the cmc in just one cart and one decision. Scootaloo. It was easy to see the other crusader's reasons for their carts. Apple Bloom being fast and sometimes impatient like in Cutie Pox. Sweetie Belle always being the more calm and slow crusader. But I had to think a lot when it came to Scootaloo and her choice of creativity. But then I thought. Scootaloo is a pegasus who can't fly like other pegasi. Not only does it make her unique in terms of other pegasi, but it also forces her to think a much more different and creative way since she can't just fly and do other things that pegasi normally do. I think her choice of winning had a much deeper meaning than the others. I think that Scootaloo has thought about what Dash said to her in Flight to the Finish over the last seasons: "Maybe you'll fly one day, or maybe you wont. You're all kinds of awesome anyways!" and used that to think of her not being able to fly as just making her more unique instead of thinking it as making her not be special. She managed to think of her disability as a thing that makes her more unique and creative. And that's very hard to do. It also took Scootaloo about two seasons to try and think of herself as unique and creative instead of just "The dumb pegasus who can't even fly", and that's very well played by the show. They leave it there for about two seasons and then make a decision in an episode that shows her progress in terms of self confidence, but even then they put it through just one decision but still having it there. Its not obvious at all, but you can still see that Scootaloo sees herself as being much more unique and creative now. So that really made this episode better for me. Through just one decision, they gave a huge amount of character development to Scootaloo who is my favorite CMC and pony :D
Hmm, interesting analysis. I really wish I had had more time to sit and think about the CMC in this one, but it was late, and I was trying to get the reaction done and uploaded, which ended up being around 3 AM as it was. I definitely do like the idea of Scootaloo seeing beyond her own limitations. However, I still find it incredibly frustrating that they still haven't directly addressed Scootaloo's inability to fly. The closest we got was back in Flight to the Finish, but it still didn't specifically address WHY Scootaloo can't fly, nor did it give us any of her backstory whatsoever. Right now it's merely assumed that she's crippled, and that she's an orphan. Even though these ideas make sense, I'm personally too picky about details to fully believe either one until they actually establish those as fact in canon. I'm really hoping that the upcoming episode "The Fault in Our Cutie Marks" will have a focus on Scootaloo, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Applegeek Well.. That's one episode title I got spoiled of xD Don't worry though, whenever there's an episode where you nearly know its going to be cmc by the title. I dont care at all about getting spoiled by the title since every cmc episode that comes out has me hoping for more information about Scootaloo's inability to fly :)
+Applegeek but "The fault in our cutie marks" definitely sounds like an episode that can show a bit of information about Scootaloo feeling bad and unworthy of having a cutie mark with a pegasus wing in it when she can't even fly. If that's what they are going to do then I think I'll maybe have to change my favorite episode xD
Oops, sorry about that. I guess I always assume everybody in the comment section already knows about all the upcoming stuff. I typically avoid this stuff myself, but episode titles and synopsis are too hard to avoid for me. Good thing I stopped short of actually mentioning the synopsis for that one. XD
Actually, they kinda _are_ the mare's carts. They insisted that the carts be built to _their_ specifications. _They_ drove the carts in the race. They _certainly_ aren't the _fillies'_ carts anymore.
It wouldn't really be the CMC getting the prize, it would be their sisters. In fact, I'd be surprised if their sisters wouldn't have tried to take the ribbons to. Yes they wanted a particular prize, but they also wanted to earn them, you're proud of their accomplishments and truly feel like they deserve them. Even if they had wanted to stick to the prizes that their sisters wanted, they still would have been miserable because their sisters would have done all the work, and it wouldn't have felt like an accomplishment.
i wonder what happened to sweetiebelle and rarity's horns while they wore the helmets because in pretty sure at least rarity's is longer than the helmet was thick
1. I loved that Sweetie was using more of her magic in this one 2. YAY DERPY! Even filly Derpy :D. 3. this episode wasnt that bad, as much as a few people have griped about it. And did you get that pic i linked u? I cant wait to see what the next episode brings .
Rarity I believed because she had character motivation, when she was a filly she lost first place so she had a reason. The other 2 I don't see doing this as much, there are reasons but just doesn't matter. I won't say they were out of character, but will say it was not believable enough. And I count this as a CMC Ep because all 3 were in the focus, yeah the "AB tries dancing" Ep I don't count as a CMC Ep because Applebloom got the most screentime, the story was more about her and they worked in a little CMC to fill out the run time and as a reason for why AB went down that road to dancing. Btw anyone else think that colt Derpy raced with, is Dinky's twin brother? Either way you go, CANON RELATIVE FOR DERPY unless you use Tiara's butler as a way out of that. P.S RD not reading Scootaloo reminds me of that story where Scootaloo basically told RD to get lost for not being a good sister and she told Pound Cake, again I don't see these 3 as doing this! I bet Hey Arnold did this better. >_> ALSO! Best design and most creative are----2 different ribbons..? How exactly does that work?
Um, I think you got confused about the ribbons. They were for fastest cart, most creative, and most traditional (i.e. looks closest to the antique carts used long ago).
***** No, Cheerliee said one "for design" I'm pretty sure. *Looks at the Ep* Ugh I swore she said for design. DX Don't you hate when you remember something so well, yet when you see it again you were 100% wrong?
That's why I do my best to go back and verify things I "think" I remember from past episodes before doing my commentary, because I find I often remember things incorrectly. :)
Applegeek I suppose, it is odd that Sweetie wanted to do exactly what AJ wanted to do. XD Suppose the original idea was for them to switch sisters but it was scrapped? I mean.. Applebloom wanted speed, Scootaloo wanted style, and Sweetie wanted traditional. Rainbow wanted speed, Rarity wanted style, and AJ wanted traditional. It makes perfect sense!
I thought the episode was okay, although it was easy to tell even from the synopsis that this was going to be a "soccer mom"/"boy scout troop dad" story.
Eh, go back and take a closer look. I second-guessed myself as well, but on further review, that was most definitely a chicken head that Scootaloo had tossed onto the cart. XD
I feel like Applejack was really out of character in this episode. I can picture Rarity and Rainbow getting carried away with something like this...but Applejack? She just seemed needlessly bitchy in this episode. It's bad that this episode made me hate Applejack, when Applejack is my fourth favorite out of the mane six ( Twilight, Rainbow, Fluttershy, Applejack, Pinkie and Rarity) Wonder who wrote this one, great reaction though
I'll have to agree with you one that Applejack just annoyed me thru out the episode, and its bad that i hated her in this she is my favorite pony, and once again the writers screw up her character, and the people who hate Applejack this episode just made them hate her more.
***** Yea, but in "Fall Weather Friends" it made more sense because Applejack is a strong and athletic pony, so of course she'd want to compete for that. But what does any of her personality have to do with cart racing? Not much really. That's more Rainbow Dash's thing. Plus she wasn't nasty or bitchy towards Rainbow Dash in Fall Weather Friends. In fact, it was Rainbow Dash who started cheating in "Fall Weather Friends" Applejack even believed Twilight when she told her she tripped over a rock. It's more comical and sensible for Applejack to seem mean towards Rainbow Dash since they're friends, and have always competed. But to see Applejack lash out on Applebloom (her little sister) over something as petty as a cart, just really rubs me the wrong way And in Applebuck Season, that really doesn't count here since Applejack wasn't bitchy towards anyone in that episode, she was just losing sleep and hurting herself. I always saw Applejack as more mature than this. Bottom line is, this episode was decent but the writer really screwed up Applejack's character in it. I hope whoever this writer was, doesn't come back any time soon.
Applejack can be competitive but Rainbow is mainly the only one that has a massive ego problem, and in Applebuck Season she wasn't trying to prove how great she was, Applejack is the most mature and level headed member of the mane 6, and I don't see her being a control freak that would be Twilight.
Max harder I was on the tablet and I was starting to type this word and then I thought it's a Discord on one of the top 3 tab and I just but it's a disk or so I just put it inside send okay but I actually do mean Discord thank you for me that Ashley said diamond
Hey Applegeek. I wanted you to know that I love your channel. Your reaction videos are amazing. Do you know when the next new episode comes out? Also, who is your least favorite character? It's hard for me to decide.
+Gavin Woodring the next episode comes out in a week. Since they normally come out once every week when they aren't delayed or there is a hiatus. And we've just had a hiatus so it will come out next week :)
Gavin Woodring Ok :) But really. Being a brony is nothing to be ashamed of. I had a hard time telling my parents but now I feel a lot better about being a brony. I even sometimes comment on non brony vids with this name. And there's nothing bad about being a brony. There's just many people out there who try and get people to stop enjoying something they dont enjoy, and really. That's their own problem. If anyone hates on you for liking something then just try and ignore them because its them who are missing out on something amazing. If I were you, I would tell your parents about it. But of course that's all up to you :) I even made one of my friends interested in the show and trying to watch it. And now he's a huge fan too. I'm not saying that it will happen to you, but if you have a friend and he tries watching it and doesn't like it. If he is a real friend then he will respect that you like it. The same with family. But of course as I said before, that's all up to you :) But I would recommend telling someone about it instead of being a closet brony :)
The Lightning Brony Thanks for the advice man. I have told a few of my close friends and a few of my cousins. Also, I watch other things beside MLP as well, like one punch man, naruto.
Don’t mean to be rude but when filly Rarity got 2nd place for her cart applegeek looked disappointed but he is happy when it is Derpy/Muffin that got first.
What rarity said about old cars being bad, she should think about the power muscle cars from the 60s-80s, with big V8s producing over 400 horses, now modern cars have between 90 horses to about 195 horses. 90hp being an N/A engine, 195 being equipped with a turbocharger.
I rather liked the episode. BUT, it seriously lacked in continuity. The first half didn't even fit with the ending! 1. The CMC did comment on the design of their carts multiple times! 2. All the sisters seemed really stubborn in keeping to their own designs. This isn't too out of character, but Applejack was practically threatening Applebloom that she couldn't be part of the family if she didn't keep to tradition! 3. In the end, the sisters weren't attentive at the finish line, cheering the CMC on! The lesson isn't that they should just sit back and let them do their thing. (It kind of is but you get what I mean!) It's that they should've been supportive of them and not take over their jobs!
Yeah, the ending felt quite rushed. I guess I didn't think about it too much earlier, but now that I think about it, the ending with them lounging in their lawn chairs really kind of annoys me. Granted, they did make things right by helping rebuild the carts the way their younger sisters wanted, but then they just sat there relaxing instead of cheering on their sisters. At least Dash tried to get into the spirit, but then got glares from Rarity and Applejack. Very odd.
Exactly! Rainbow Dash had the right idea, but Applejack and Rarity glared at her as if she was doing something annoying. Yeah, maybe she was the tiniest but too loud, sitting next to them and all, but it's a race! You're supposed to cheer your heart out! Very strange indeed.
This was an okay episode, but I hate to say it but I did not like Applejack in this one her behavior toward Apple Bloom really bothered me, but she still remains my favorite pony, and once again the writers screw up her character and its really starting to annoy me, but to me the best part was Derpy beating Rarity that is still funny, nice reaction as always.
Yeah, I'm getting rather peeved at the writers' mistreatment of Applejack's character as of late. It's getting to the point where I'm going to be begging for somebody to give her a decent episode, like the way we finally got a good episode for Spike this season.
Oh, indeed! The Mane Attraction is pretty much the best Applejack episode in the whole show. Unfortunately, it didn't really focus as much on her as I would have liked, due to the introduction of the Coloratura character. Don't misunderstand, I still love the episode, and Coloratura, I just wish we could get another episode with that same quality that focuses squarely on Applejack. As much as I like many of the current writers on the show, it seems like none of them really know how to write her character well. :(
Applegeek I just want an Applejack episode that shows more of her past, there is just so little that we know about her, and it would add so much more to her character, and The Mane Attraction is my favorite AJ episode also.
Dude you're into MLP you have a outfit that has the CMC on it it does not matter what time you post I will watch it every time plus you have a family thing going if you cannot post they would have to understand
I can certainly understand your opinion on this, and I largely agree. Still, there were enough entertaining moments to pick it back up, especially the song. I still cannot get over Apple Bloom's frustrated scream, and the way she said "Can't we go any FASTER?" XD
You make good points about the CMC's cart designs. I was rather rushed doing this one, wish I had had more time to sit and think about these things.
No worries. Your post commentary is still awesome. I think everyone has more time to get their thoughts & ideas together after some time of ruminating about the episode. :)
Scootalo is my favorite because she is so exstreme like Rainbow Dash but Sweetie Bell is second. I love singing like her too.
Sweetie Belle, her second name is the same like Micah's from Read Dead Redemption 2.
Sweetie is my favorite CMC. She is so sweet..
It's now my head canon that Rarity is seeking for revanche on Derpy for her defeat, this won't end well :D
LOL! Prepare for comics about this...
Why do I have the feeling, that Rarity would be perfect as Sharon Stone from "Basic Instinct"? Imagine the story: the Crusaders are publishing her diary where she writes about the murder on "a clumsy flyer" and derpy is killed shortly after that. And of course the scene with the canterlot guards :D
marissa Halker you comented that on all the vids didn't you plus i want to hear your real name
Poor Derpy
Oddly enough, did you know that Derpy wasn't her first name it was actually Ditzy Doo ( mentioned in Winter wrap up )
To me, this was another "Show Stoppers " episode and yet, this one is slightly more fun to watch.
CHICKEN!
It's official... There are full fledged bronies on the staff. ;p
I totally agree with you dude
Edward256 haw cant ther be?
I don’t get it....
Even after 2 years I don’t get it, lol.
what?
XD
23:39 RD cheering on Scootaloo was so sweet and cute I love it so much! I love them! I think they’re my fav as far as sibling dynamic in this show. They’re always so cute!
Also Scoot saying “they’re all our older sisters, practically” was great! Mannnnnnn I just love them
Well, it's not like Rarity hasn't stereotyped country ponies before, right? "Yes, indeedy-doodle!"
*sigh* Yeah, you're right, I'm afraid. XD
@@applegeek2597 Yup, we all remember that moment with Country Rarity. *winces* Gives countryism a bad name.
My theory behind why Snails wasn't in the race is that he didn't get the cart completed in time.
Perhaps, but then there's also Silver Spoon, and Twist, and maybe some others that also weren't present. Oh well.
+Applegeek I couldn't help notice a complete lack of Pip. Didn't he win the election last season? Some president...
This is possible. Nice name by the way.
Obviously, Scootaloo has taken Tyrion Lannister's wisdom to heart. ;-P
"Never forget what you are, Chicken. The Bronies won't. Wear it like armour, and it can never be used to hurt you."
/jk
I didn't realise the whole Scootaloo/Chicken joke until after I finished watching.
Goes all the way back to Stare Master in season 1.
+Applegeek I know. I'm just saying I didn't recognise this one until afterwards.
It really does make sense that derpy would win most creative...she essentially had the minimum requirement for a functional cart.
We saw Apple Bloom was way ahead of the pack. With Scootaloo behind, and Sweetie Belle
at first I thought cheerlie was saying Derpy racers to the staring line XD
Hey. I haven't seen you in my comment section.
derpy didnt truly win for creative. its because she was special
+Tailor Redhoof why? Derpy could have been creative.
That wasnt creative though Iris Light and you know it.
Tailor Redhoof um....i still think its unfair.
Iris Light its not about unfair. Its reality. I im just stating facts
Tailor Redhoof ok! : )
Yup that's supposed to be a Phoenix
I'm starting to see why they call her Ms. Cheerlie. She's always so cheerful.
2:49 physics in kindergarten, they learn younger every time.
7:27 LoL, the Rainbow Dash poster that pinkie made in "Pinkie pride"
7:55 Why don't they notice that, when ever they say that, it ends up bad?
(just look at the cart)
Only thing missing now is Dasterly and mudly (I hope I'm saying this right)
24:17 Double LoL, your freak out was hilarious.
44:12 Nope, they sang in "the crusaders of the lost mark".
Aw nuts, I forgot about about You'll Make Your Mark. Oh well. Cheerileader? XD
I'm more surprised that no one else had thought of that name for cheerilee, it was so easy :D
Who will choose the best moment?
This whole episode I just wanted to scream at them but I really do love them and how this epsidoe came along!
I tell you, Applegeek, this new video was exactly the thing I needed to cheer me up after what happened last night!
14:15, STOP FEADING THE MEME!!!! I have honestly never thought that hasbro would do this
"Screaming in frustration is a terror." - Applegeek 2016
woah, guess I'm not the only one who's rewatching his videos
I found the older ponies taking over very believable, and not just as a plot device. It is such a common experience, with parents or mentors getting so invested in a child's project to relive memories of their childhood, that it's become a trope. Activities that are supposed to create great memories for the kids become all about the adults, and the kids feel left out.
09:09 You know? It actually makes a lot of sense! :) She lost to Derpy, so she decided to become the most creative pony in Equestria and beat Derpy one day. And look what a creative pony she is now! :)
09:50 Not necessarily.
This would solve the problem right away and it could be fun to watch too, instead of yelling "Y U NOT...!" at the screen throughout the entire episode :q
14:44 Oh, I wish I could do that... :p
14:49 Or just a paint thinner? BTW notice how the colors of the fire go to the paint roller ;) Nice little detail.
15:40 Naah, she just copied the design from the Manehattan's park from "The Gift of Maud Pie" episode ;J
BTW is it me or this swan kind of resembles Princess Celestia? :q
16:50 Isn't it what is supposed to be done in races? :q ;) (just kiddin' ;> )
16:57 Hahah I wonder if Diamond Tiara even built her cart herself, or just bought it, or tell her buttler to make it for her :P (just look who's sitting in there with her).
But who's that colt with Derpy and why he's not Dinky? :P
17:15 Nice cockard, Miss Cheerleaderlee ;)
17:48 What a better position to hear Squeaky Belle squeaking? :>
19:28 That would be the best ending for this episode :J
19:55 Not only that, but we finally know the plan of the roads in Ponyville! Map builders - go! (unfortunately, this will be a lot of correcting :P )
22:00 Yup, and it's actually very symbolic, and it couldn't do its job if Scootaloo didn't use those chicken props back in the episode :> Remember that old fairy tale about the eagle who has been raised amongst chickens and he thought that he was a chicken too and couldn't fly? But then he saw another eagle flying high above in the sky and he wanted to be like that eagle? And when he grew up, he realized that he actually _is_ an eagle himself and flied? I hope they used this symbolism intentionally and it means something about Scootaloo's future ;>
23:53 Been waiting for a satisfying ending, ain't ya? :q Nope, not this time... :P
But we could pretty much tell who will win what from the very beginning of the episode, ain't we? ;J There were only three ribbons after all: one for speed, one for tradition, one for creativity.
Rarity is better than everypony already.
You took the words right out of my mouth at the end of the video. That wasn't the point of the episode.
Seriously dude, chill. Relax. Have some soda or iced tea.
This episode had strong influence from Wacky Races, especially in the song scenes and the design of some carts
Don't see the ending? Fanfic writers to your keyboards, fanfic writers to your keyboards!
23:50 hahaha! "WHYYY!?? ..WHY DID YOU NOT SHOW WHO WON!? ...because that wasn't the point of the episode, that wasn't the moral it..with..mmmbrbmbrd...." xDD like)
😀😃😄😁😆😅😂🤣 XD XD XD XD
LMAO I laughed so hard on that XD
Oh and btw
TRIGGERED CONFIRMED (illuminati confirmed joke?)
>element of generosity
Yes. Rarity was really awful in this episode.
Applegeek True! Still a great episode even if I was really mad about this brutal ending! But now I understand more how the end would be!
AppleBloom rules.
LOL diamond tiara's face when the three pony's were admitting
That's a phoenix.
I really like this episode because of the some carts and the metals.
I think we don't see who because they won the award they were going for scootaloo was creative whit a phinox I never would have thought of that
All of them won probably.
18:56
contacts. 5-second of pit-stop penalty. 🤪
20:02
I knew it. Rainbow Dash can't make a perfectly engineered kart. 😝
37:03
Well if you work on a motorized vehicle, that level of grease is quite understandable. All the components require lubrication and adjustment. And lubricant is essentially a kind of oil, which goes everywhere when you try to fiddle with those parts.
38:57
1960s, IndyCar
Has Scootaloo expressed that she doesn't like being called a chicken in the show? I can't seem to remember a scene where she's told someone off about making a chicken joke, aside from that first scene in Scare Master.
It was Stare Master, actually, not Scare Master, but yeah, that's mainly what I was thinking of. Come to think of it, I'm not sure if there have been any further references to her being a chicken in the canon show or not, but due to all the fan content blowing it out of proportion, it's hard to forget. XD
i think Scootaloos 2nd one was a phoenix
Despite its predictability, I still find the episode to be immensely entertaining.
Yeah, I didn't really feel like the predictability was all that bad, not in this case anyway.
Applegeek I find an episode being predictable to not be a problem most of the time.
Yeah, as long as they find it a way to still make it entertaining (which they did in this case), it's not big deal.
Applegeek Agreed.
17:45 Derby Racers
20:05 CRASH!!!
20:33 THEY'RE NOT YOUR CARTS!!!
From this scene when they go go go this reminds me of the intro from speed racer 18:43
i DVR this ep and it was okay i like it.
the ending was good for the kids.
i thin every Pony is a winner.
9:11 wow. Derpy sure won the derby. 🤩😳😯🐎
I also was mad that they didn't show who won
Me too.
In the beginning when the teacher said using mechanical work to convert potential energy into kinetic energy she was just using fancy words to say push something up a hill and letting it roll back down mechanical work describes the energy used to push it up and potential into kinetic energy describes letting it roll back down.
All I could really think throughout the reaction was
"What an awesome shirt!" Haha.
I know I also thought that it was obvious what they would choose, so the fact that they went the opposite of it was nice to see. XD.
anyone notice that snips and his fathersz cart looked like a barber pole? That suggests that his father actually works in hair and maybe that is why snips mark is scissors ( yes I know about the old ryme but they have to have the marks for reasons )
Yep, I mentioned that in my commentary.
Am I the only one who hears "Derpy racers" in the song?
You're not alone.
I remember playing Mario kart 8
I bet the pies are as or tradional then the apples. I bet Pinkie's family said no to her wish to have a fast cart when she was Appleblooms age too.
Perhaps, but at least Pinkie was able to get her family to warm up to the idea of a party with brightly-colored decorations. You can still honor traditions while also embracing new ideas, or even starting all new traditions.
it took pushing a fallen bolder to get them to blend holiday traditions.
The Applewood Derby is almost like the Wacky Races, but without Dick Dastardly and Muttley.
Apple Geek: STOP FEEDING THE MEMES
The Memes: we are inevitable
True very true. Me and mom thought the same thing actually as well but it didn't happen. A good thing of course though. As revenge is never good.
2 word puns I'm thinking of this time around: Cherilee-der outfit, and Filly-Derpy-a (Fillydelphia)! 😅
Rarity: You mustn't think that older ponies no best.
Me: NOT AN EXCUSE!
XD
Applegeek xD
Actually, they kinda _are_ the mare's carts.
They insisted that the carts be built to _their_ specifications. _They_ drove the carts in the race.
They _certainly_ aren't the _fillies'_ carts anymore.
The CMC should have seen this coming. All they really had to do to fix most of this would be to switch partners.
The thing is is that the CMC would have still won a prize each, just nor the one they wanted the most, they should be grateful to get anything at all
It wouldn't really be the CMC getting the prize, it would be their sisters.
They probably got helmets made by Dr. Whooves (bigger on the inside). ;)
+Applegeek yeah probably. XD
Obviously, Applejack never saw Fiddled on the Roof.
Diamond Tiara's secret love for Derpy
1. I loved that Sweetie was using more of her magic in this one
2. YAY DERPY! Even filly Derpy :D.
3. this episode wasnt that bad, as much as a few people have griped about it. And did you get that pic i linked u? I cant wait to see what the next episode brings .
I love that magic thing with Sweety too.
ALSO! Best design and most creative are----2 different ribbons..? How exactly does that work?
Um, I think you got confused about the ribbons. They were for fastest cart, most creative, and most traditional (i.e. looks closest to the antique carts used long ago).
*****
No, Cheerliee said one "for design" I'm pretty sure.
Applegeek
I suppose, it is odd that Sweetie wanted to do exactly what AJ wanted to do.
Is this even on netfix on my little pony season 6 Yet ? I was on Netflix and didn't see this there's Just episode 13.
Fun Fact: This was supposed to be an episode for season 2 but Lauren Faust took it down.
Uh...do you have a source for that claim?
+Applegeek Unfortunately can't show you *by the time I got to the video this day* It got deleted by Hasbro
+Aaron Olden BTW the video's name was "Abandoned Fim Episode Ideas"
i have a question why does scotaloo never closes her wings?
I thought the episode was okay, although it was easy to tell even from the synopsis that this was going to be a "soccer mom"/"boy scout troop dad" story.
Also I don't think it was supposed to be a chicken, it was supposed to be a kid doing a griffon. The race cart looked like a griffon to me.
Eh, go back and take a closer look. I second-guessed myself as well, but on further review, that was most definitely a chicken head that Scootaloo had tossed onto the cart. XD
Ayyyy where did you get that CMC t-shirt man? i need to buy one
I remembered wacky races X3 childhood memories
Anybody else notice we see more of Snails than Snips this season?
Sonic meets mario kart!LOL!
Omg where did you get that shirt from? 😍

Everypony is Everypony
best episode so far.
apple jack was probably using paint thinner
Paint thinner isn't applied with a paint roller. ;) Also, Apple Bloom's paint brush painted multi-colored flames with one swipe. Ahh, cartoon logic...
Has anyone told you you do a great horse impression?
Heh. Rarity's cart looks like Celestia-Swan. :D
Who was that colt with Derpy? Fandom given't him name yet?
I dont think so
You mean Dinky?
Liam White Dinky is a filly unicorn. And Derpy race with colt pegasus.
please may I know where you got your shirt, because I want to buy one

But to see Applejack lash out on Applebloom (her little sister) over something as petty as a cart, just really rubs me the wrong way
And in Applebuck Season, that really doesn't count here since Applejack wasn't bitchy towards anyone in that episode, she was just losing sleep and hurting herself.
I always saw Applejack as more mature than this.
Bottom line is, this episode was decent but the writer really screwed up Applejack's character in it. I hope whoever this writer was, doesn't come back any time soon.
Ed Valentine ("Flight to the Finish," "Three's A Crowd") wrote this episode.
Applejack can be competitive but Rainbow is mainly the only one that has a massive ego problem, and in Applebuck Season she wasn't trying to prove how great she was, Applejack is the most mature and level headed member of the mane 6, and I don't see her being a control freak that would be Twilight.
1712Overture Um...that 'lecture' could hardly be compared to this
hehe like this he has fun :-) (they win the ones they did not want ahahah) ofc...
You know you almost sounded like Discord in the credits.
Nice.
Derby won The race on the episode 7 of season 7

Hey Applegeek. I wanted you to know that I love your channel. Your reaction videos are amazing. Do you know when the next new episode comes out? Also, who is your least favorite character? It's hard for me to decide.
+Gavin Woodring the next episode comes out in a week. Since they normally come out once every week when they aren't delayed or there is a hiatus. And we've just had a hiatus so it will come out next week :)
+The Lightning Brony Thanks man. My parents don't know I am a bring, so I needed to find out.
+Gavin Woodring I meant brony.
Unnamed Pegasus with Derpy at firs t run, closely ressemble Derpy in a way
your shirts are the best and great video as always
Hehe, thanks. :D
was it an apple family reunion XD
Don’t mean to be rude but when filly Rarity got 2nd place for her cart applegeek looked disappointed but he is happy when it is Derpy/Muffin that got first.
How strange is it that Rainbow dash has a soccer ball when in EG she plays soccer?
that was a firebird
What rarity said about old cars being bad, she should think about the power muscle cars from the 60s-80s, with big V8s producing over 400 horses, now modern cars have between 90 horses to about 195 horses. 90hp being an N/A engine, 195 being equipped with a turbocharger.
so many facehoofs I had a blackeye
22:26, still a chicken, it had red on its beak
23:55, were you trying to do a Pyro impression
Very strange indeed.
in your dream [animation], fluffle puff, mane six cartoon, my lego ponies reaction and children of the night
Applegeek I'm already missing Miss Rogers at least she knew how to write Applejack.
Thanks, glad you enjoy watching!
Applegeek I like anything MLP
This was just a "Meh" episode to me. It was fun and nice to see cameos, but it also has a number of missed opportunities and inconsistencies.
I can certainly understand your opinion on this, and I largely agree. Still, there were enough entertaining moments to pick it back up, especially the song. I still cannot get over Apple Bloom's frustrated scream, and the way she said "Can't we go any FASTER?" XD
