I like what you did and I even have an old iPad that I hardly use after buying a new one. I think your mount is "ok" but Ithink it would look nicer if it where recessed into the wall, just cut out some wall board and design and print something that places the glass surface just a bit out from the painted surface. But the bigger problem for most people is that they don't live in a house where low-voltage DC has already been pulled to the location you need. They would have to have a "building code legal" way to power the iPad. I don't think it is OK to put a phone charger inside a wall box. A visible cord looks bad.
There are wall box DC transformers that one could install, but I agree that path is more advanced. I was fortunate to already have low voltage available at this spot. Personally, mounting something like this with a visible cable would be a no-go.
I just need you to come to my house and install it for me. You make it look easy, but I'm probably not going to do it myself. I do really like it though!
@@filmboxhd2837 as I mentioned in the video, I repurposed some low voltage from an old security system with a buck converter to step the 12v down to 5v. I don’t have any immediate plans to run any new low voltage, but I’ll keep that in mind.
Hey Donnie enjoy all your videos especially the one on your new iPad addition to your security system. I’m thinking of doing something like you have but was going to use apples home app. The only thing I’m not sure of is that they tell you to scan the QR code of the item but was wondering if you would know if I scan the base station would all my cameras and sensors be automatically added as well. Any help would be appreciated thanks
Hey George! I haven't done a ton of research on this, but from the little I've seen and heard, people are using a hub named Hoobs to do this (allow Ring devices to communicate with Homekit). There are some good UA-cam videos out there about this. Search "Hoobs Ring"
I'd 3d print a mount and make it look like anything I want. It would cost me about $2 plus. But I coud not recommend that in a video because not every has the design skills and a printer.
I respect your skillset. That’s just not a path I’ve invested the time, money, and energy into doing, let alone doing well. So for me, spending a bit on a mount that I believe is clean was the way to go.
Enjoyed your video on this and as much as I would love to do this project I don’t believe I have the smarts for this. But enjoyed this very much.
Thanks, George! Hope you’re well!

Where is power coming from? Thanks
I did this 15yrs ago exactly have the picture of it w/ apple time stamp on it

Ha! Maybe for a small fee :). Thank you for commenting!
Dove posso comprare il supporto da mettere al.muro per iPad?
What’s the app on the ipad you use to control everything?
Home Assistant
@@TechWinnerCC Can you make a video how to wire up an iPad on the wall, please?

Is it okay to stay connected directly and for a long time on the charger?
With an iPad, absolutely. It’s got enough smarts to not overcharge itself. Thanks for commenting!
@@TechWinnerCC Thanks

@@TechWinnerCC thanks Donnie for getting back to me. I did see that I will have to look into this. Thanks for your help
How to open iPad frame from wall dear can you help
That cover just pops right off. I use a fingernail to get it started. Snaps in, snaps off.
Those panel mounts are really expensive. I might have to search for something more reasonably priced.
👍
"Complete DIY" and yet you use a £100+ wall mount. Poor.
High standards. :)
