Bobby Brown's sophomore album Don't be Cruel is still a classic to this day!!
At that time bobby was the king of r&b
We're fortunate to have Celebrity Underrated. I'm learning a lot about our forgotten gems.

I agree with you 100%
New Edition's Heart Break album is still a classic to this day!!
Big Facts my bro, I still have the 💿!!

An Accidental Demise story on Chris Lighty, Don Cornelius, Shakir Stewart, Mobb Deep's Prodigy, Brandon Lee, Kim Porter, Lee Thompson Young, Sam Sarpong, Kristoff St. John and rapper X1 would be very interesting
Especially Shakir Stewart
Great ppl to do a story on
I believe Chris Lightly was murdered!!
Chris Kelly of Kriss Kross & Flo Ballard of The Supremes would be good too
we shouldn't celebrate the pedo's.
Your research and storytelling is unmatched. It's like listening to a friend.
Research? His ass reads straight from Wikipedia but I like it!
@@jennmoe254 🤣🤣🤣 you wrong for that🤣🤣
@@jennmoe254 lmao it's still research. I mean he took the time to look it up. 😂😂
I totally agree!!
Thank you for this one! It seems like Jheryl’s contributions to black music have been forgotten.
If u were raised in the 80s and 90s you listen to his legacy ❤
Jheryl Busby died three days after Shakir Stewart died RIP to both Jheryl Busby and Shakir Stewart
Wow I Had No Idea HE Passed All I Remember IS HIM And I On The Football Team
I never heard of this talented man. My gut telling me that "jealousy" is the motive! Kudos to him!! Thank you for shining light on him! Kudos to you too!

I totally agree!!😊
Jheryl Busby was an alumni at my high school Fremont High in Los Angeles, thank you for bringing his legacy to the forefront
I THOUGHT THAT WAS HIM HE WAS ON THE FOOTBALL TEAM AND OFTEN TALKED ABOUT ISLAM A REAL NICE GUY
This story was amazing. I’ve heard of him but didn’t know too much about him and this lets me know was a solid dude
The New Edition Story and The Bobby Brown Story are the best biopics to air on BET!! I wonder what biopic they're gonna do next on BET
They’re some of the greatest biopics of all time.
We need a Jodeci biopic!!
I hope they do a Bell Biv Devoe story
Definitely Force MD's biopic is a one that a lot of people would like
@@larhondaburchett3271 I was looking for this comment - so true we do 🙌🏾✨
Jheryl Busby saved Motown in the late 80s.
Thing about Berry Gordy is he dealt with a lot but he put his artists through a lot and blocked talent that should’ve been big!
I stay screaming Florence Ballard name.
Rashad 2025 ig
Shame
Exactly! The Spinners are a good example of Berry Gordy blocking talent
@@mrmartywaring I just watched them on here the other day the isleys as well.
I do remember Jheryl Busby being very low key during his time in the music industry, but it is still strange that he is not mentioned more. The Clarence Avant documentary was very good. I saw that one about a year ago. His wife was murdered during a home invasion a couple of months ago. Very tragic. I do remember Shakir Stewart passing right before Busby, that was an interesting November indeed. I read somewhere that Shakir was very close friends with Kim Porter and the whole suicide thing was very suspicious, as with Chris Lighty. Looking forward to more videos in this series.
Had the honor of meeting this great man. And attended college with his son Chris. I also was very good friend of Shakir. We all attended school in ATL in the early 90's. What a great time in music. What a great time in life for me. ACU STAND UP. MBC, CAU, SPELLMAN & MOREHOUSE. REST IN POWER SHAKIR STEWART.
I remember Jheryl Busby's name on the backs of New Edition's albums.I also knew that Mike Bivins got that Biv 10 Thanks for all the music and memories Mr.Busby
I am glad somebody is not scared to draw them dots together.... Shakir Stewart, Chris Lighty and Jheryl busby deaths were always suspicious to me...All those "industry friends" but no one really will comment on the circumstances surrounding these deaths. 👀
I always thought Chris and Shakir's were strange too I said that on the video he posted .
@@musiclover-cn7tb I'm thinking there deaths may have been illuminati related.
There's always an angel somewhere!.. Gerald Busby also helped a huge part in the R&B singer Tweet's career, she made mention that he was a reason why she came back to the music business 🕑
Wow...that's dope.
I didn't know that.
RIP Andre Harrell an Accidental Demise on Andre Harrell would be very, very interesting
Yea I want to know too. I just hate how they allow those people to use them, knowing dayumm well these aren't accidents. They got to think we the duyummmest race of people forest. Straight up 👌✌️💯 the stories behind the deaths sound the same. For the love of money.
He died from COVID
@@celebonypearl3409 I thought he died from heart issues I didn't know that.
Wow it's amazing how many people haven't heard of Jheryl. When I seen this video the 1st person that actually came to mind was Tank & the New Edition movie. Wonderful story on Jheryl Busby.
Tank did an incredible job playing him!
@@jenniferwade7861 He really did.
@@jenniferwade7861 I agree
Trawanna Rogers I really never knew who Jheryl was either but I had heard several celebrities mention his name.
@@rodneyplayer5785 Yes he had his hands on a lot of singers career especially New Edition.
When Andre Harrell took over Motown, he tried to make Motown until another Uptown. Boyz II Men was upset at him and Motown for releasing a remix album without their consent and permission. Andre did make an impact on music but Jheryl did a great job running Motown and he worked hard to keep a balance with the classic/original artists and the new artists
Him and Lou Silas Jr deaths are suspect to me as well as Chris Lighty and Shakir Stewart.
Shakir Stewart was rumored to have killed himself due to a gay rumor that affected his relationship with his wife.
I would really like to see a video about Louil Silas Jr. I agree with you that his death was suspicious.
@@LoveUnconditional777 I never what happened to him just that he passed away.

Something wrong, all these deaths like that😳... Mr Avant's wife was recently killed when someone broke in their home! Shame on them for taking her life.... RIP to her and these executives 🙏🏾🕊

@@aliciag946 me too they were caught .
Jheryl Busby was, if not overall, the most amazing Music Executive I've ever seen. Don't get me wrong, much due respect to the great Mr. Berry Gordy, ( MoTown), Mr. Clarence Avant, The late Mr. Andre Harrell (UpTown), Mr. Clive Davis, (CBS/ Arista), The late Mr. Dick Griffey( Solar), just to mention a few, but Mr Busby expanded his Music horizons to the fullest, and who knows where else he was about to elevate to music wise. Music Execx like him, only come around once in a blue moon.
Berry provided the platform and paid for it. It two totally different lanes. Busby was the best in his Era. He should have been made head of MCA, instead of being head of Motown. That was ( and still is ) the nature of the business of music. You think Michael Jackson died of drugs, or was it he owned 50% of the largest music publishing company in the business, and refuse to sell.
@@dsu9659 facts but he was popping before he got motown
Agree
Wow thanks for this. I knew there was a dude who made New Edition’s music what it was. I never knew his name. Also I didn’t know he had a lot to do with Shanice, Another Bad Creation, The Boys, Johnny Gill and Boyz II Men. Mad talent they could all sang! This is an important piece of black music history. Thank you for all of your research and work that you put into this.💖
He signed Tweet and was helping her to make a comeback which didn't happen because of Jheryl's death
I remember all this through reading magazines Rolling Stone,Source,Trace, etc about music industry (I'm a painter but love everything about music)...I always thought it was grossly sad that he doesn't get the same accolades as most other music execs and moguls...He made so many talented people shine....RIP Brother...
It doesn't make sense.
I used to see his name on the back of many albums.
I never heard of him all I can say is wow he was the God Father of Black Music this man pave the way for a lot of major black artists and what he did for Micheal Bivins he pave the way too Thank you King for this video I learned a Major history lesson about Mr Busby RIP King Black Excellence❤️💪🏾💪🏾
Correction:
NE didn't get that 1.86 from MCA. They got that from Maurice Star's label, after their Candy Girl tour. The argument between Jeryl and MB, when Jeryl told him to read the contracts was about NE being signed to Jerry's label, instead of MCA.
And also Johnny was brought in to replace Ralph not Bobby
RIP Jheryl Bubsy
I literally was able to get all of the remixes that I did for Motown - Sunset & Vine , directly from Jheryl Busby & Clarence Avant... Zhane'/ Shanice Wilson /Johnny Gill / Boyz ll Men. Real solid brother, and much underrated. Great job on this C. U.!!!
Sounds wonderful that's quite a golden collection.
I really love your channel. Please do a story on Shakir Stewart and Chris Lighty. Both of their deaths were suspicious AF. I know you would break it down nicely and politely.
Can’t wait to see the MC Trouble story. I know she died super young…
Didn't she have infirmities or something? I know I heard about her death somewhere else on YT but can't remember the details.

Berry Gordy started in the music business as a writer in the late 50's
Wow I've never heard of this man. He was truly a powerhouse in black music and business deals. I enjoyed this video alot. May he rest peacefully.
He was mentioned in the New Edition story became the CEO of Motown Records
Tank playing him
Thank you Jheryl for my amazing R&B childhood memories and concerts. His death is sad. I never heard of Jheryl until I watched the New Edition bio. I agree the world needs to know about Jheryl. I love me some Tank. I never seen a star for Jheryl Busby. 😔He should have been in the Ebony magazines. I never seen no interviews of Jheryl. Rest In Paradise thank you, Mr. Busby The Godfather of R&B. He was so young. #Legend.

When doing good things aren't attached to a dollar. THINK ABOUT IT EVERYONE WINS.
Sole sang songs like 4, 5, 6 and It Wasn't Me and she collaborated with JT Money on the song Who Dat and was also married to Ginuwine and she divorced him and she's now currently married to Professor Griff of Public Enemy
There was a version of it wasn't me with Jason Weaver and another with Ginuwine.
*I always heard his name pop up in various interviews and documentaries so when they made him a character on The N.E/Bobby Brown series it was cool to see.* 💯
That click be serious as hell when I see this channel with a new video💙💙
Lol, true.
Jheryl was the BEST replacement of Berry Gordy. He did a really good job at Motown. MCA just sabotaged him and the label. A lot of great talent went unnoticed
Let’s Get To The Root & Celebrity Underrated are the top music documentary in the game on UA-cam rn
Telling you!!! Real Reality Gossip is right in line with them. Their channel title is misleading because they basically have the same mini-doc formula as LGTTR.

Thank you for another excellent documentary.. They're always informative 👍.. Would you please consider doing one on Louis Thunder Thumbs Johnson of the Brothers Johnson ? .. It would be greatly appreciated 💞💞💞

Great documentary. Stevie was still on Motown. The Temptations had returned to Motown in 1980 and they had renogitate a new deal with Motown due to Dennis Edwards returning a year before Berry sold Motown. Many artists have and still speak highly of Jheryl including Jody Watley who revealed that he believed in her vision and Gladys Knight said that Jheryl always made sure that music was tight.
I'm glad that you straightened that up. Stevie Wonder just left Motown after 60 years on the label. The Temptations had a stint with ABC records. Thank you cause I thought I was tripping.
Alright!!!! Right on time I was bored 😐😀❤️ thank you!!❤️ RIP MR. BUSBY

"I remember when I was 6 years old in Chicago, my mama had a Diana Ross doll, she kept for a souvenir. Back in those days, my mom was a Soul train dancer. She joined a contest, where she won that Diana Ross doll. That doll looked so creepy, it looked like a voodoo doll. I remember her using that doll, to keep us from rambling in her room...because everybody was scared of it"🤷🏾♂️
Excellent documentary, and sincerely a very important piece of history. There is always an asterisk beside huge Freedmen (i.e., American Black) success stories, like Eddie Griffin said. Busby's demise and that pattern of other deaths really makes one think.
