Gutsu should never have been allowed to compete in the AA because she fell off the beam and was not the top two of her team to qualify. They sacrificed little Rosa to give her the chance to win gold for them. I still think it’s unfair that they were allowed to do that. Rules are rules and she fucked up!
Actually, subbing one gymnast for another was not against the rules at the time.
@@ojk46 i never said it was against the rules but it is wrong if she didn’t earn that spot like rosa did. Rosa earned that spot but was told to step down for Gutsu. I find it morally wrong. She made a mistake which meant she didn’t qualify to be in the individual round, therefore should have sucked it up and let Rosa compete. That is what i meant.
1992 will always be tainted in my opinion. Gutsu definitely didn’t deserve to be there.
There's a documentary about gutzu being made to share the money she won with Rosa.
@@LETMEINGUYS I’d head about that, yes. if that’s true then in a way… ok good. Money can’t take the place of a stolen opportunity or that medal. I also suspect that was to assuage folk who cried foul upon hearing about the lie. As far as I’m concerned it should have resulted in a rule stating that only qualified athletes can compete in the all around and individual finals. If an injury occurs- tough, you have only one in competition, not two. It would eliminate blasphemy like this.
The part that disgusts me with Tatiana herself is she tried- and still tries in interviews- to say “she understood Rosa’s sorrow and anger.” That’s the behavior of a spoiled brat, and was completely disgraceful. If she’d said “I couldn’t imagine her pain, but it was the coaches decision” I would feel differently. To even try to say she did understand was selfish in the extreme. I wouldn’t blame Rosa if she never spoke to Gutsu again ever- which I don’t believe she has. I know I wouldn’t.
Shushunova and Gutsu are Olympic All Around CHAMPIONS!!!! The useless discussion is over!!!!
Sorry you see it as “useless,” nonetheless, the argument does indeed continue, therefore there must be some merit to it.
Russians make “platinum” medals or special golds for athletes, especially figure skaters, they think should have won. Ask slutskaya and plushenko. Since when do Russians get to declare discussion over? Gutsu shouldn’t have even competed in the final. Her preliminary scores were too low, so the team faked an injury to another team member to get her spot in the final. Shady.
The only thing useless is you getting butthurt over people exercising their God given right to share opinions and have discussions and debates. Get over yourself.
Wrong worthless person!
@@badgernation74 And those people are losers, just like the ones who don't accept Shushunova and Gutus are the Olympic AA Champions, or the Komova fans who don't accept Douglas is the 2012 Olympic AA Champion, and so on. I don't distinguish, you are all equally as much losers for not being able to get over things that happened 30-40 years ago. I call people like all of you people who are so unhappy with reality, which probably pertains to your overall life as well, you need to live in a fantasy reality that does not exist to cope.
Silivas the best
Biles would have crushed them all!
Cheaters!
1992 Olympic AA Gold Medalist, Shannon Miller!!!
people focus on the vault regarding miller/gutsu, which is fair because shannon deserved no less than a 10.0 on her first vault and relative to shannon's vault, gutsu should have been more than a tenth lower with all of her many deductions, but worse than that was gutsu's first pass on floor. i understand it was very difficult relatively speaking, but they took big deductions for others in the 92 olympics for floor problems yet gave gutsu such huge scores for making a HUGE error on her first pass every time she did it. gutsu would have been lucky to get bronze if this was scored correctly, even by 1992 standards......
Totally agree !!!
