I like the fact that the slave one is smaller and cheaper since you can go and buy the older versions if you have a higher budget but I have a small shelf and small budget so this one is perfect for me

Agreed! I also think we're all forgetting about the kids here. My parents would never buy me a 200$ lego set - being able to actually have a slave 1 for 50 bucks would have been incredible.

I don't own a Slave1, I fell out of Lego for years while building Gunpla instead. Now, being back into it. I want a Slave1. With the extreme inflation of the previous sets. And my limited space, the new 2021 version is going to be what I end up getting. Personally I think it looks great for it's scale, and will look good displayed next to the Mandolorian fighter.
Honestly, this. UCS sets look fantastic but there's no way I'm fitting them in my flat. I'd rather buy a bunch of small different sets that might look worse but are cheaper and smaller so that I can display a bunch of different stuff rather than one massive big fuck off falcon or slave 1 or x wing :D
I have similar thought as well. I think this will scale great with the newer 2021 sets, it would fit perfectly next to the havoc marauder or the mando starfighter. Now I just hope we get a new Razorcrest in this mid-scale. I like the cheaper price and the smaller size of these mid-scale ships, I can fit a few on a shelf.
@@vinceguy1464 I don’t think we’d get a mid scale Razor Crest. A lot of people enjoy the one we have now, and the Razor Crest is completely obliterated in the show, so there wouldn’t be much future for it in other Mandalorian sets unless Mando gets another Razor Crest. The only other direction I can see a new LEGO Razor Crest going in, would be in UCS scale.
It’s fantastic really. I have mine set up next to my Anakin starship. It’s a great size and still a good build. I made my own stand for it but otherwise it’s fantastic considering it’s a Slave1 that actually fits on my Lego shelf.
I also have that kind of thinking, and also I would never get the 2015 Slave 1 as it is very expensive, and I am satisfied with the 2021 one :)
You can easily display it along with the box, which is very beautiful.
2010 was a great one. I have it and it's a superb display and not a big price back then. Lots of compartments and weapons features.
Was gonna comment something like this too, was my second Slave I and I loved it!
It's great that they have produced this model in different scales, so that almost everyone who's a fan of the Slave One will be able to purchase it, since I think that every version here is amazing on it's own.
Also note that the 2021 Slave One has the same size as the 2018 Cloud City version, but is so much better in my opinion
Absolutely. I don't see people sharing this perspective enough. I grew up in a poorer family where a 50 dollar set would've been a big gift. Anything over 100 was cost-prohibitive and Slave 1 was one of my favorite ships. I actually bought this new cheaper one because it also had Mando and Boba minifigs.
@@HedgerowHeathen I agree and it's sad to see, that a lot of sets (especially City) are steering away from that target group. I'm lucky, because we have a large internet flew market here in Germany, where you can get sets used for a pretty good deal, but I really appreciate sets like the latest Tie Fighter and X-Wing which are sized down, but still have a lot of play value and that's what is most important for kids and that's what should be kept in mind, that the majority of sets are play sets, so they should be somehow affordable for kids and the 2021 Slave One is a good example. 50 bucks is still a lot, but a lot better than 150 in 2019 and still with good play value, takes up less space in a kid's room and is more likely to get a discount imo.
@@theroaringbricks right; I fw that but still don’t like the fact that my slave one sits at the same height as my scaled down x wing smh should’ve scaled down the x wing and kept the slave one w ion torpedos and mines for 70 bucks or 75 it’s just weird seeing the slave one smaller than an x wing and i think the new x wings are very dope includes everything from the old one and the new wing system at a more realistic size compared to a mini fig but the slave one man they did it dirty and boba looks cramped in his cock pit

The 2019 slave 1 is the best for me I love play scale more than UCS.

UCS Slave one is the only minifigure scale UCS and everything is so much Better when it comes to design and authenticy👍! So no competition! The 2021 is awesome because of price and that New boba fett arm print

4:22 Uh, I own the UCS Slave I, and iirc it does indeed have a place for the Han Solo in carbonite, on the inside of the back door.
You’d think this is something he’d have seen in the instruction manual. I mean, they show you place carbonite Han Solo on a clip behind the door.
@@jaydonmagan4694 yeah. I mean, they even have another hatch that is built into the bottom side (when landed, not flying) in case Han gets lost in there and you can't shake him out of the smaller door.
Honestly, I had no regrets with the 2015 set. Great build. I’m glad I bought it when it first came out
I had the 2006 version and really loved it, but I love the color accuracy on these new ones a lot
The amount of detail they have on such a small set is great
I’m loving the 2021 release. Great price point set. Crazy they haven’t done a micro fighter version. Apart from the Star Wars celebration release in the tin. Which I own.
You have some of the BEST quality LEGO videos on the platform. In terms of camera quality and lighting. You learn a ton from being on UA-cam for over a decade.
I love the newest one. I love the smaller size, details, figs, and the much lower price. Honestly, the costs and size of those bigger ones make it harder to find room to show them and the cost really takes a dent out of you quickly. I'm a BIG fan of this new direction for the X-Wing, Tie Fighter and now Slave One. I really hope we get a small version of the Tie Advanced, Y-Wing, B-Wing, A-Wing, AT-ST, AT-AT, U-Wing, Tie Striker etc.
I'm all in for the littler builds. I love these cool small pieces they use to provide details too. Great pieces for all sorts of MOCs.
I know I should be happy for a playable, swooshable Slave 1, ( already have the UCS version), but man, that's crazy small.
I actually think that the Boba figure included in the 2021 version is the best Boba figure we’ve ever gotten.

The original one has a special place in my heart. It was the first big set my parents ever got me as they had previously only bought smaller sets.

My first Boba Fett's Slave I (I have Jango Fett's) was the 2021 (75312), and I was extremely impressed with what they were able to do with the small scale. I actually didn't realize how small it was until I bought the 3rd Edition (8097). In between, I did buy the Microfighter (75344). I also have one from the advent calendar. Eventually, I plan to own them all. Next will be the UCS.

I built the I think 2013 and the 2019, but I never got the UCS or brand new one.
I’m tempted to buy the new one purely for the minifigures and the fun of the actual building process.

Im very lucky. I managed to snag the UCS version the last year it was avaliable at my Lego store. Really good model in my opinion, I even kept the box.
I bought it in 2016. Very happy that I bought it. Just need to clean it.
I think Lego's doing a great job with these smaller sets/smaller price tags, like the TIE Fighter, though if I was going to buy a Slave 1 starship, I'd hope in the future we get something a little bigger and just falling under $100. Again, great that they've made such an iconic ship so much more accessible from a pricepoint, it makes for an excellent starter, but I'd only ever buy the ship once, I'd go with something similar in size to the 2019 version.

There’s nothing wrong with small sets tbh, I think adult collectors sometimes forget that Legos are first and foremost kids toys. I honestly don’t mind the “downscaling” of so many Star Wars vehicles in 2021 because it’s great for kids because they’re a good playable size and they can get more of them.
There were so many iconic Star Wars ships I could never get as legos as a kid, because they were simply too big and expensive and I could only get one big set once or maybe twice a year. I had to choose my absolute favorite, I couldn’t have them all. My kid self would have absolutely loved 2021’s line of $50ish play scale ships.
It'd be cool to have an Attack of the Clones Slave I set in the near future. The ship looks awesome in blue.
2025: a Lifesize version with adjustable seats with shooting turrets confirmed for lightspeed takeoff to infinity and beyond.
As someone who has owned the 2006 version (similar scale to the 2019 one) and then got the UCS one from 2015 (when it was still being made) I can wholeheartedly say that the UCS one is the best one hands down. Regardless of minifigure selection and prices, it's such an excellent building experience and is one gorgeous display piece! Easily on of my top 3 LEGO Star Wars UCS sets ever made! And to be fair, like David says, the retail price at the time for the piece count is also excellent.
I hope we get another one of these when is the Book of Boba comes out.
Also I would love it so much if they did change the name in cannon. And I hope it’s to something super sappy like “ The BFFS”. (For Boba Fett and Fennec Shand)
After the last month of hissy fits, I would love to see their reaction to an actually change.
People that like the play set the most are either kids or did not get the UCS version because there is no competition when the UCS is one of the best and only minifig scale UCS set ever! It is outstanding and should not even be compared to with the other sets!

The renaming is because they very rarely refer to Jango/Boba’s ship as Slave One on screen. It’s not them trying to Disney-fy Star Wars, it’s just because younger fans probably don’t know the name, and they want to buy the ship in Lego. It’s a business decision.

They all look good. Even with the downgrades of the smaller ones they still keep that clean look of the UCS one but you know smaller.
The big one is sitting here on my desk. It's awesome! But I really like the little one, if I got that when I was young I would've been so happy with it
And for $50 you can't really beat that... It better to sell 5 of the $50 kit than sell one $200 kit.
Haha I dont have enough space for the big one on my desk, so i put it in the center of my closet on a shelf. honestly such a good place to put it in my room. love it!

I know why Disney tried changing it we all do it's because it has slave in it they won't allow the word slave but they have gathered almost as many limbs as gorge Lucas himself in the Star wars franchise

All these years I've been so wrong, The tinier the lego, the more concentrated the fun.
The 20th anniversary one is the best of both worlds. I personally own it and it's perfect in size and detail compared to the standard scale of most Lego Star Wars ships

Out of interest, which Slave1 is the most accurate to scale, compared to a standard Lego X-Wing / Tie Fighter / Millenium Falcon? I’d assume the 2019 model?
Slave 1 should be about 21-22 meters long. Millennium Falcon has the same width but is about 26+ meters long
All sets are great, UCS the best of course. I have 75243 only, maybe I'll make some MOC in this size.

I used pieces from the plaque to make the ship stand upright for my 75243. But now I have one of those clear plastic aftermarket ones.
Honestly the 2021 is my favourite, the new boba figure and mandalorian figure are very good and the main ship lacks no detail.
So I have one of these but its similar to the 2015 one, but also different colours and has a different loading system for Han. I got it when visiting Paris for a trip. fins and the guns look way better but a little smaller
The bottom guns on the big one is missing the little grey armor piece on the side of it :)

Got the 2021 slave one for christmas and I am definitely a big fan of that small set lol. Love the stand as well as the minifigs and the build itself for its small size is great, the managed to include a lot of great detail on it which I'm happy about!
people hating need to compare the prices per inflation - the 2015 slave one was 230 or 300 adjusted for inflation - If I was a kid, I would NOT be getting that set, EVER. The 2023 set is only 70 bucks and on sale for 50 currently! (canadian prices)
as the kid who's parents would never ever even consider a 100-200$ + toy - I think the scaled down versions are amazing!

As someone that played with LEGOs as a kid and haven't in like 15 years. Why are they so expensive?
I mean, 200$ plastic tiles? How much does the manufacturing cost for each unit? 20$? 40$? I mean, it's minimum effort manufacturing. No handcrafting. No custom pieces. Production line printing a thousand pieces a second.
Has anyone asked that question before, or the community just accepts the pricepoint as is?

Hmm the 20th anniversary variant retailed for $120 and had a little over 1,000 pieces. The most recent Slave 1 costs $50 and has 593 pieces. Yes, i am aware that the 20th anniversary variant has a better figure selection but just comparing the ships, the latest edition is better. Plus it’s on sale for $40 USD rn so I think it’s worth picking up. Unless you got the $240 for the other previous version.

That was still a steal at the time, but the price has gone up tremendously in the past year because of the Boba’s appearance in Mando season 2 and the upcoming Book of Boba Fett show
