I feel like "Because DOS" is a perfectly acceptable answer to practically any question that comes up on this channel, and this was a super awesome look back at the series, dude. Your Christmas videos are always some of my favorites. Your videos ARE that cup of warm chocolate by the warm CRT PC light.
Still have a bunch of AF cover disks and CDs, most of the floppies are full of bad sectors and the PCMCIA slot on my A1200 has given up the ghost, so I can't use the CDs. Spent probably hundreds of hours browsing the CDs when I was a teenager. Always full of all the shareware and PD they could find on the internet. It's where I got the Amiga port of Doom from.
I once erased my dad's lemmings game by opening the slider and holding it up to the light to see if I could look through it. I'll die with that secret.
The christmas LGR intro always gets me in the festive mood. Maybe its the midi music, the can of pop or just the whole thing. Makes me wonder what the normal LGR intro would be with it's own midi intro. Or maybe just the soda pop opening.
Nitpicking: I think he uses Jazz Jackrabbit xmas soundtrack as the intro music, which TECHNICALLY isn't MIDI at all, but uses Epic's proprietary tracker sound system.
He crawled out of the inside of an old Packard Bell 386 and is made of dust bunnies, cigarette smoke, spilled coffee, mouse turds, and glitter. It became sentient after Clint sneezed on it during disassembly, and took his form.

Aw man, I know this is kinda unrelated, but I saw an IBM PC XT (in decent shape!) at a salvage store today being wrapped up for scrap. Had I gotten there earlier, I would've been able to buy it by the pound. I feel like I've committed a crime by letting that thing go.
The Lemmings games used to scare the everloving hell out of me as a kid, it was something about all the death traps with their kill animations and the hellscape aesthetic and how you had to sacrifice some lives to save the rest. I had the xmas version too, and while it itself didn't really have that same effect, it almost felt deceptive to put a jolly skin of paint on something I found so evil and morbid. They're great games though, I really enjoyed them when I came back as an adult
Lemmings nearly as perfect puzzle experience as Tetris, when it comes to its first execution .its really hard to make it any better than it already was, thanks for covering it.

I never really got into Lemmings or DOS games. Back in the early '80s, I grew up with the Atari 2600, Colecovision, and Color Computer 2. We only had limited games for each. I didn't see anything new until the early 1990s when I got an original GameBoy. The only reason I got that was because I got to play on one my older brother had borrowed. My parents realized I enjoyed playing the thing so they got me my own original GameBoy with a few games. Most Christmases (is that a word?) after that, I only got one game. It was still a real treat since we were poor and I stopped getting anything for my birthday. I played the crap out of those games too. Sometime after 2000, I got a GameBoy Color, GameBoy Advance, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS. The games and game systems are too expensive to buy now.
Yes yes yes. Please redux some of your old videos!! You’ve grown so much in a friggen decade, I’d love to hear what you have to say now about lots of these games!
I got the Amiga 500+ Cartoon Classics bundle which came with the original Lemmings and Deluxe Paint III. When looking to learn the craft of computer animation using the excellent DPaint tools I had to look no further than Lemmings, so much creativity in so few pixels. I mapped out each frame and recreated into my own set of animations, then went off on a mission to marry it to my other love of the time Judge Dredd. I knocked out tons of Judge Lem (Lem, Lemming, geddit?) animations, creating my own set of reusable lem.brush animation files (The very brush concept that gave the name to Guy Brush Threepwood, Guy.brush). Beyond being a great set of games I have to thank Lemmings for helping me out creatively too. Thank you, you green haired goof balls.
My 4 year old has gotten really hooked on watching me play original Lemmings for some reason. It's a pity they haven't had a core Lemmings game since the PS3 refresh. You'd imagine the concept still has appeal enough for them to get Team 17 to knock out another update although I'm not sure how the PS Vita version sold.
I have the original soundtrack from the first Lemmings game and also from Lemmings 2, the tribes on my pc. I often played Lemmings in my childhood, and childhood memories still lives on. I will always love dos games.
In 1993 or early 1994 there was a day where I was at my local public library using their free computer that you could reserve for 1 hour. I break the lockout and look around on the hard drive, probably was going to install Doom (which I carried discs for like 2yrs to install on every computer I touched) and found somebody had a version of Christmas Lemmings installed and hidden. It was a great week of daily 1hour reservations lol
i can relate to having a christmas themed game that i play it every christmas just because it brings good memories and you can just cuddle up with it and let your mind relax from all the stress this season brings. Lemmings is a game that does that, just makes you relax and just enjoy it, more if you add a coat of Xmas on top of it, and even if i didnt played this particular version i still can relate to this feeling, because every christmas i play Daze Before Christmas since the first time i played that game was on the Megadrive and with my sister, my father had rented that game and while i was quite peeved because it wasnt Sonic 3, i just really enjoyed playing that game that christmas, in fact i still play it because that year all my family round up around the game and played alongside me till the end, even if my mom just lost right at the middle of the game we just played it all over again until we beat it. And since then is a tradition for me to play that game on each christmas even if my family are very busy to play the game with me, that's ok because its like a sanctuary for me.
Ahh - this brings back memories. You failed to mention that DMA Design are still arround, though renamed 'Rockstar North' and, after they'd finished making Lemmings games, invented this fun little car game called 'Grand Theft Auto'.

I was a massive 'Lemmings' fan anyway, loved 'Lemmings 2' also - but had less experience on that as I recall it only ran on VGA so had to grab the very rare hour to play it on my Dad's VGA (I only had EGA in those days!). 'Holiday Lemmings' (a.k.a. Christmas Lemmings) I have particular memories of, playing it alone one Christmas afternoon as what little family I had yakked away like no tomorrow. Somehow those little Lemming dude plummeting to their deaths made the day feel slightly better... get your psychology hat on for that one!! My floppy of Xmas Lemmings went kaput a year or so later and for whatever reason I never managed to get hold of another copy, but I've now promised myself to attain a copy of it from somewhere and replay it's glory this holiday season... kersplat!!
