    Thank you for this video. I was born and raised in Bohol but now residing in the US. A shipping container is the best option to bring with us the sentimental “junks” that we have accumulated through the years when we go back and live in the Philippines.

    I'm truly envious. I've been with my lovely Filipina for 3 years (married for 2) and desperately wanting to finally be united as a family. She has been in Luzon since we married, while my son and I have been in the States. It's been so stressful trying to get us all together finally. This video was helpful in seeing possible associated costs with a potential move. Just so concerned about the overall moving costs and the transition for my son (Elementary age). Once established it'll be all good as my monthly income would be enough to sustain our livelihood and with the Grace of God allow us to finally expand our family.

    Hi, I just saw your video about moving your stuff from the US to the Philippines. We actually did the same thing in March 2019 from Sacramento, California to Cebu because my husband retired from his job in January 2019. We’ve been here for over two years now. Our mover was Atlas Shipping Co. and we paid $10,500 for the shipment from California all the way to Cebu. We were told in California that oir container van

    • @carmencitagila2034
      @carmencitagila2034 3 роки тому +1

      will still be the same van when it arrives in Cebu but it didn’t happen. Our things were transferred to a wing van as soon as it arrived in the Manila port. I was actually disappointed when I saw it because I was scared I might have boxes stolen when it was transferred to a wing van. I had over a hundred boxes and for sure I wouldn’t remember what those things in the boxes really are. Yes, I lost one or maybe more boxes because I couldn’t locate some of my other things. I was complaining to the person in Manila who was communicating with me about my cargo van but he never answered. Lesson learned I should have gotten an insurance when I contracted the shipping company in California. Anyway, my husband is very happy to have retired and lived here in Cebu for good. I have fun watching your vlog.

    Great information. We are looking at shipping a 20ft container to Dumaguete. How much would have the smaller container saved you? Would demurrage fees have been less with the 20 ft? Seems like your experience was business as usual in the Philippines. Do you feel like you were treated fairly from Cebu to your place? Did this bother you at all or do you just expect that there will be unexpected expenses? Thanks in advance for your assistance

    • @whatwedotogethermattersmost
      @whatwedotogethermattersmost  5 років тому +1

      Hi Mike. From the USA it would have saved approx $600 and then at least that much again when passing through Cebu. The US customs and border patrol additional $2000 really effected the total cost. From what I hear it is random #badluck. All in all we are satisfied looking at the bright side of things. Contact Janice at RJ Brokerage Cebu. She is a straight shooter with good connections. Tell her The VFamily sent ya. Best of luck.

    ❤❤ Just watched your video. It's September 17, 2021 . I'm looking to move to the Philippines very soon. I drove big rigs for 29 years. I was thinking that it would cost you around $4,000 or $5,000 at least just to get it from Florida to California.

      My Filipino Finance are planning to move to the Philippines (we'll be Married by then). I really want to bring a couple of sets of bedroom furniture, My (deceased) Parents Dinning Room set, Silverware, China set & Various other miscellaneous furnishings, and some tools.
      I believe I can get everything into a 20 foot container. We plan to keep it simple, & bring no liquids, that I believe cost them a ton, compared to the cost of purchasing on location...
      Good luck in your ventures as well

      The US customs was the big surprise!

    • @econoshippersoceanshipping9929
      @econoshippersoceanshipping9929 3 роки тому

      US. Customs examination is more popular on the import side. But it does happen from time to time on the export side too. And when it happens, the shipper/ exporter of record will pay for all US customs exams. At Econoshippers, we have the customer pays directly to customs, we do not include these charges in our invoice. This is why it is important to make sure your containers are loaded properly, blocked and braced, so nothing will be heard shaking or else. This can trigger a customs preliminary X-ray, then extensive exam.

    • @whatwedotogethermattersmost
      @whatwedotogethermattersmost  5 років тому +3

      Neither did we😮 However, Balikbayan boxes are $110 each so actually 90 and we had approx 200 items. Many that save us time and money not replacing. If it hadn't been for added charges, we would have been even happier but we try to look on the bright side.👍

    • @poultryboy1984
      @poultryboy1984 5 років тому

      @@whatwedotogethermattersmost Shipping Balikbayan boxes from your area is expensive... its $58.00 in California to ship them to Iloilo. "replacing" is the key word lol. You could have bought many of those items here in the Philippines but you would be "replacing" them due to the poor build quality.

    Was the stuff you shipped in the container worth $10,000 or more? You could've just sold all your stuff in the US and used the money plus the money you would've used for shipping to buy new stuff in the Philippines.
