it's so sad to see so much hate. Ppl doesn't realise it's just reality show, she's not a terrorist c'mon. We fought so much against hate towards "gayness" yet we do the same to ourselfs
Phi Phi on all these hey qween videos with those arched thin eyebrows, pursed top red lip, and jet black hair and short bangs make her look so evil like a Disney villainess or something omg haha 😂
Mmmm that point about Sharon's fans was a little off... They didn't attack you because you were a different style of drag, they saw you being intolerant of her style of drag, true or not.
It's nice to know some context regarding season 4. I honestly don't really hate her because of those fights, it's fucking (not)reality TV. Anyway, I think she is much better know, specially after 365 days of drag. It was a smart move, a very smart one to change some perspectives about her.
So here she says that Drag Race portrayed her as one type of queen and that we should never let anyone put us in a box of one thing; that she wanted to show the world there's so much more she can do. Funny, in the Final Lap with Michelle Visage Phi Phi said "that was the only scene that I grew up with so that's all I knew....I thank Sharon and season 4 all the time because if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have opened my eyes to all the other forms of drag there are out there."
i actually don't mind phi phi. she was definitely humbled by her experience on drag race, which is hard for a lot of queens to do. also she continues to inspire and show different sides of drag, which wasnt really shown on her season. hoping drag race all stars brings to new light her new perspective and uniqueness, nerve, and talent. which she has all.
I think it's three things: People are passionate sure, but they seem to think you're only allowed to like one person (in friends groups if two friends have a fight the other friends have to choose a side which is divisive and not indicative of individual thinking). Fans are so involved with each other during the celebration of a show that it becomes like a dysfunctional and rather large groupthink circle jerk. If you liked Sharon or Willam in the show then it's probably true you didn't like Phi Phi. I didn't like PhiPhi during the show. I realize that some of that was editing, but at the time I watched it, I just hated her. Since then I've grown up a lot and learned a lot about the filming process which helps humanize everyone and makes me root for them all even if they aren't represented in the show very well. That's my second thing. It feels like the people watching reality TV take the "Reality" part too literally. They don't seem to get that the producers are trying to make watchable television. If we didn't have producers feeding lines, casting someone as a villain, giving someone a redemption arc then the show would be boring. And to another degree fans don't understand that they want what they think they don't want, and they don't want what they keep asking for. That's one of the problems is that a fan thinks they know what they want soooo much. It's inside them; it's their opinion. But what you actually want out of a TV show is for it to be watchable. It needs to entertain you. If there's no clearcut villain, no one to root for, or the season is rather flat the whole time, then you get season 7. (Which was fine, but from a writer's perspective, it lacked forward momentum and someone to root for. The protagonists were diminished and the antagonists weren't likable either.) So when someone says I wish Phiphi would get kicked off next, I don't know why she's in all stars etc, it shows that they don't really understand the business of Drag as a "reality" show. (obviously each fan may vary here and know what makes good TV and still yearn for something knowing that the producers wanted them to yearn for it). The third thing is that people have a voice. They are no longer bound by writing letters to the actors/directors etc. The internet isn't so young anymore, but for some reason we're all still finding our footing in social media. We have access to people who used to be on pedestals. Especially with Drag Race we see these people in our towns at our clubs. They message us back when they can and really feed off of our positivity. That's something you couldn't expect twenty years ago. That means that back then, it was rare, unique, and exciting. Now it's not so rare, not so unique, and the excitement only lasts so long. And when you're on social media and driven by metrics of how many friends you have, how many likes did you get, and how many retweets did your comment get, a lot of people (A LOT) are trying very hard to stand out in a sea of literally everyone. Before you had a small border around your life. Your town, your county, the big city closest to you, your state maybe. That was the edge of your world except for vacations or work or school trips. Your interaction with someone else was limited. Now it's not only infinite, it's also expected that your interaction be brief, memorable, and polarized. What's the point in saying some sort of middle ground? No one responds to the middle ground. It must be at one extreme or another or, like in the friend group, you're being disloyal or dishonest. That brings a lot of thoughtless comments that dehumanize the people who entertain us. The product they are selling, themselves/their package of hard-honed talent, are seen as the target for that extremism. Thinking PhiPhi was the devil back then, watching all the seasons now, and just growing up more has helped me understand the situation PhiPhi was put in (at lest a little better) and not vilify her. To PhiPhi: You're super talented. I can't take back anything I've said in the past about you. But your story makes me more cautious going forward in accepting blindly the storylines that reality TV likes to perpetuate. I'm excited to see what you bring to All Stars 2! And if anyone trashes you because of drag race, well, they'll learn eventually too.
So... as someone from the Netherlands who had never seen Phi Phi before RuPaul's Drag Race, I'll admit I didn't much like her towards the end of the season. Seeing this I'm like 'okay, now I see the human behind it all.' and I'll say that I love Phi Phi's looks, her outfits are amazing and I respect her as a person. I was completely team Sharon during season 4, but why in the world would you send death threats? Even if all of it was real, that's more than just a couple of steps too far. Respect a person for who they are and if you can't accept it, walk away. It's really that simple.
So she openly admits conspiring with Sharon Needles, talking when not aloud, creating false drama, etc. but she calls out Willam for breaking the rules? She was so jealous of Willam, I'm suprised she wasn't literally green the entire show. #greenwithenvy
i never noticed that phi phi had a slight lisp! loves it

APPLAUZASEEEES
All these comments are so hateful like if you don't like her just don't watch the interview? No one's forcing you to
So she openly admits conspiring with Sharon Needles, talking when not aloud, creating false drama, etc. but she calls out Willam for breaking the rules? She was so jealous of Willam, I'm suprised she wasn't literally green the entire show. #greenwithenvy
'Another thing Phi Phi O'Hara loses' anyone notice that around the 15:45 mark she says it, then looks at someone as if to say 'SHIT, AS2 spoiler'
you're clutching at straws.
