Edit: My music video react/breakdown channel - www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv Should I start another channel just doing deep dives into K-pop music videos?
@@thecreatorscut Yes you should!!! And I have suggestions too!! Try a different series for your start up deep dive like 5 MVs for 5days for this one specific group or any group, and that would be cool! It's only a suggestion tho! btw new subscriber here!!
the set in 6:13 is actually a real set not just the stage. the water, the stage, the inner curved wall are built. some of it is cgi. you can check this mv's behind the scenes if you want. 😊
I haven't watched too many but it looks like they've been killing the mv game for a while. I'll be posting more on my new mv reacts channel if you're interested in seeing more www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
aespa and all SM groups have a story/ lore/ concept. Frame by frame has a story, which is why watching an MV from SM Ent is like watching an ART. No other companies are doing their diverse and risk-taking concept and music.
AESPA are known for a certain concept, which they haven’t dropped or abandoned unlike some other k-pop groups. It dates back from their debut back in 2020 and it feels like every music video is a movie which is insane because the quality of the music video really brings in the vibe and the experimental music (that SM town is known for) is composed really well and is formed into a masterpiece.
aespa is one of the best if not THE BEST traditional kpop group that's active right now. Very marketable, the visuals are well thought out and put together. I really can't think of any western artist that can match their visuals as of now. The asian market is just insane for how much they put into a single music video. That said, XG is another group to watch out for. They're not kpop per se but more kpop adjacent. They use the kpop system, but is aiming for a global push. In terms of visuals and creative work, I really don't think anyone else can come close. Just because they are not limited to the kpop standards and trends, their concept is insanely free to be whatever it needs to be. Which gives them an insane edge on pushing the boundaries of creativity. recommends: XG - Howling aespa - supernova other MV cinematics worth breaking down: (G)- IDLE - Oh My God IU - love wins all (G)- IDLE - I want that
@@thecreatorscut Whiplash from aespa is also worth watching. It's their latest MV, done in a minimalistic style but they got so much out of it! As usual so many details to find with great choreography
@@leonmusic1871 yess omg, whiplash barely had anyth to work with but swallowed the dish with the literal whipping "whiplash" camera moves and the choreography
i would suggest LOONA, particularly their early stuff like Butterfly. completely different style than aespa and way more traditional but still very cinematic and completely unique within kpop (thanks in large part to their longtime collaboration with music video producers digipedi). they have some truly gorgeous cinematography and editing/color grading/etc. that complement their unique concepts and lore very well. LOONA kinda invented (in kpop) the idea of a continuous lore/world building that goes from video to video and grows as they keep releasing.
Thanks for the background lesson. It's cool to start understanding more of this world. I'll be posting all my mv reactions on the new channel here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
My guy you NEED to see DPR Ian - Don't go insane, the mf not only wrote and produced the song but also directed and edited the music video you will be SHOCKED
I love how you didn't even pause in the last minute of the video because its just THAT FUCKING GOOD you just have to ride it out. im so happy you dove deep into armageddon because its genuinely one of the best kpop music videos ive ever seen. whats also amazing about it is that its LITTERED with references to their greater metaverse/parallel worlds storyline/ concept that they've been nursing since debut. and with this MV, it just goes to show how intentional they are with everything bc aespa is a group that knows their concept and know it well
Yeah aespa has a HUGE lore. Same with red velvet, stray kids, billlie and such. Lmk if i should make a list of all the mv releases to let you figure out the lore. Ill also be happy to explain the lore❤
this mv is just.. i get chills watching it and listening to it every time. if i was anyone who got to work on this i would be so freakin proud and honored jesus. great reaction!
OMG Armageddon really deserves its flowers, most especially to the team that worked behind it. Thank you so much for looking into it! If you want to see more of this aespa's MVs are really, reaaaaallly cool, like, Editors go crazy about them lol. Armageddon is my most favorite MV of them but you may also wanna check out Drama, Savage or Girls if you decide to go down the rabbit hole lol. They do have a lore so some the story line might be overwhelming at first. Also, if you like aespa, there's XG, a Japanese Global girl group that has really cool MVs and aesthetic too. If you like Armageddon, you might wanna check out "Howling", "Girl Gvng" or "Woke Up" by XG. Oh and I'm sure it has been mentioned in other comments but DPR IAN! He directs, produces, edits his own MVs. mad talented.
I will! Thanks for the recommendations. I also started another music video react channel and reacted to Howling on there. You can check it out here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
you’re 100% right it’s about to be a k-pop rabbit hole!! yes this mv won eleventy awards bc it’s that good, and there are SO many k-pop mv’s that haven’t won awards that are WILD! excited to see what you react to in the future! it’s nice to have someone who appreciates the more production and film-y aspects :D

No greenscreen here. The set was a real place in Korea and the water falls behind was real and it was cold haha. Giselle's part at 6:30 was a mirror. And the last part 8:06 infinite zoom with multiple aespa was 3D printed models.
Armageddon is in a category of its own but if you want something else that is fast paced and full of crazy cuts that aespa's whiplash is lit as well. Visually less overwhelming, but the cuts are giving real whiplash :D
This is one of if not the best kpop mv ever. The story, the concept , the looks. The way its fits into their actual lore is just amazing. I’ve never seen a group expand their lore so much. This song won so many best music video awards as it should
Please check out DPR IAN, DPR is kinda a music/creative collective based in SK, they are all individual artists that just work together to create art DPR Ian (Christian Yu) is not only a music artist (creating all his own music) but also the lead director of DPR, and edites and directs all his own videos alongside the other members and other Kpop stars. His music videos kinda have a theme across them and a story that follows different fictional characters based on his mental health. But all his videos are truly art and will always recommend them to individuals who are apart of a visual creative space.
Haha thank you! I feel welcomed already! I'll be posting the rabbit hole journey on this new channel www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv . Come kick it over there

ohhh, this was good! Aespa has great music videos, especially the most recent ones (Drama, Supernova, Whiplash). Also, ENHYPEN have great "concept films" that they release before their comebacks that are related to their lore. I 100% recommend!

I've become a big fan of Aespa''s music. For me, my Kpop deep dive started with Blackpink music videos. Their production, storytelling, choreography - like you said, so 90's. Gave me big Spice Girls vibes, and kept my brain engaged while the world was shut down. When Aespa debuted during the pandemic, i was hesitant about their live vocal talent but their concept - metaverse, AI, what's real - what isn't - hooked me. SM has, from the jump, executed immaculate visuals for this group and I'm so, so glad to see them hit it out of the park with both their full LP and mini album Whiplash.
I'm only starting to get into the deep dives and I can see how people could get lost in the art. There's so much going on but the storylines seems to keep people coming back and staying.
You should really react to DPR Ian. He's a cinematographer and also an musical artist. He makes his own music videos as well as videos for others and they are incredible! literally pick any song
aespa mvs are kinda a league of its own when it comes to quality in general. if you wanna see other mvs that exude perfection as close to aespa's, i strongly recommend trigger by the boyz, birth by artms and literally any xg mvs!!

Armageddon for kpop and XG's Howling for Xpop are the best visual videos of the year hands down (Not saying woke up because I think Howling is the upgraded version of it)
i promise you, you HAVE to look into Howling by XG, all japanese idols trained and based in korea, if you think armageddon was crazy then you HAVE to look into HOWLING by XG bc i believe the MV is 10x crazier, the music video is so insane that every time you blink, you miss like 5 scenes. Please I assure you that you wont regret looking into them. (XG MVs Honorable mentions: IYKYK, Girl Gvng, Puppet show, and Woke up).
You picked the music video awarded as the best K-pop Music Video of the year haha, good on you. Aespa in particular has one of the best MVs in my opinion, their Music Video for "Whiplash" and "Drama" are amazing like Armageddon too, it's cuz Armageddon sets the bar HIGH, but for your next reaction in terms of stage lighting, I recommend Do Not Touch by MISAMO and in terms of visual effects I recommend Howling by XG (XG's music videos will blow your mind). Indeed it is a rabbit hole!
I started a new channel and reacted to Howling! It was gooooood. You can check it out here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv I'll add Do Not Touch to the list! Thank you
You’ve already got a lot of suggestions, but if video production and concepts are what you’re about… I’d highly recommend Howling by XG. K Imma sub now.
I would also recommend watching older K pop music videos so that you can compare the quality of music videos of kpop before and today. I would recommend you watch MAMA by EXO. They are a boyband that is in the same company as Aespa but they debuted on 2012. T
I started a new channel just for mv reactions. First video was Howling by XG and it was wild lol. Follow the new channel here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
I will! There's been so many people asking me to cover it. I'll be posting in on the new channel. you can check it out here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
Everyone is suggesting girl groups which is amazing but you can also check out some boy groups like stray kids, bts, txt. I would suggest txt- Deja vu, BTS- mic drop, blood sweat and tears, stray kids- chk chk boom. And if you want to know the lyrics too then you can turn the subtitles on it will show you the translation from Korean to English

This type of MV and quality can only come from SM, let’s be real
You've got to do NCT 127's Superhuman next. It's been a good few years but I still can't believe we get to watch that MV for FREE
It's on the list! Thanks for the recoomendation
The director Rima Yoon have made some of the craziest, most conceptual and interesting music videos,, she's so talented its crazyyy
I've heard so many good things about her. I'm excited to see more of her work
i promise you, you HAVE to look into Howling by XG, all japanese idols trained and based in korea, if you think armageddon was crazy then you HAVE to look into HOWLING by XG bc i believe the MV is 10x crazier, the music video is so insane that every time you blink, you miss like 5 scenes. Please I assure you that you wont regret looking into them. (XG MVs Honorable mentions: IYKYK, Girl Gvng, Puppet show, and Woke up).
I reacted to it already. You can catch it here on the new channel. Thanks www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv
You can check it out here www.youtube.com/@inthecutmv

You’ve already got a lot of suggestions, but if video production and concepts are what you’re about… I’d highly recommend Howling by XG. K Imma sub now.
That one is on top of the list!
I recommend Brought the heat back by enhypen, the mv is>>>
Added to the list. Thank you
I would also recommend watching older K pop music videos so that you can compare the quality of music videos of kpop before and today. I would recommend you watch MAMA by EXO. They are a boyband that is in the same company as Aespa but they debuted on 2012. T
