This is good stuff. I was contemplating between the gen 2 and 3 as my very first Trek MTB. I decided on the gen 2 and purchased today since I think it suits me better. I don't go mountain biking but will jump like a sidewalk or a small bump lol
I do more cross country or ride in parks on the grass or ride around camping grounds haha
Appreciate the info on the Gen3. Actually, the price of the Gen3 is $150 more than the sale price of the Gen2, $50 more than the Gen2 list price.

Any idea what fork preferably Rockshox will replace the Stock Sr Suntour XCT30
How does it compare to the Marlin 5?
1x drive train better fork like most of the Marlons
The one by drivetrain is much nicer on the 6
@@fleafiery9753 Thanks for that response. Is there an appreciable difference toward upgrading from 5 to 6 for "around town" use? I'm loving the simplicity of the "5" so far but, lighter/smoother/faster would help. Great bike! Thanks.
@reggiesanders1284 M6 is for sure not lighter than M5 and Gen 3 M6 is even more heavy than Gen 2 M6
