Its Ute name was Tava, "Mountain of the Sun," and was sacred to the Tabeguache band, "People of Sun Mountain." I grew up with the view everyday and didn't know its real name until just a few years ago. More people should know.
I've been all over Colorado. Colorado is so beautiful I live in Cincy oh. I would move there if I could take my family. Stayed at the bottom of pikes peak in Colorado springs. Just stunningly beautiful. They landscape with boulders and rocks where we have mulch. I just love it. We visited the park. Didn't go real far in but still loved it!
I lived on the peak in 1980 for 3 weeks as a test subject for the United States Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM). It was quite an experience.
Was it in the Army shack at the top? I was at the peak just two months ago and noticed a small building with signs designating as an Army installation.
I'm watching this after discovering that Zebulon Pike is my 5th cousin on my Grandma's side, I was really surprised cuz I'm not even American. My family basically went to America nearly 300 years ago and left about 150 years ago and came here to Great Britain.
Good morning Cliff Langston, I have had the very good fortune to start reading Emmet FOX in 2003, a truly remarquable Gentleman, Harmony builder and Pionner of both South - North America and around the World. He has really introduced me to the United States of America and taught me most everything I've come to know about ranches, country music, among them Gold rush and Pikes peak (or bust). I have read "Emmet FOX Golden keys to successful living" written by Herman WOLHORN his close associate. And I wanna thank you naturally Cliff for the superb photographs and History work you are sharing with us
Thanks for making this video. I'm going to show it to my 5th graders in my music classes as I talk about the history of the song "America the Beautiful".
Awesome and thank you. I look at Pikes everyday from my house in Florence and until today knew relatively nothing about this beautiful mountain neighbor. keep up the great content.
Thanks for sharing. Had a dream I was in a forest watching people and animals get along. I was in an open cabin or something. At the very end I heard “Tava Kata, or “Tava Chata” and knew it was something to do with an indigenous tribe. On a search for any meaning if any, dreams are strange.
Very informative, nice video. Wish i went there while visiting Denver briefly. Would've been just a little detour. Utah & Colorado are awesome. Thanks !
Utah is awesome as well. Very diverse in landscaping. Utah & Colorado need more love from foreign travelers. Stop going to Florida and Cali or Las Vegas. There are a billion things more in the US. I love these kind of vids.
No doubt. That's why we made sure to include that keyword. There's no telling how many people climbed the mountain without documenting it. Thanks for commenting!
Hey Starius. Good to hear from you! I’ve heard other youtubers complain about this issue also. Apparently their subscribers weren’t receiving notifications regardless of their settings. The only thing I’d know to check is whether your bell settings are on “always notify” or “occasionally notify.” If that’s correct for you already, then I’m not sure. We’re ultimately at the mercy of the UA-cam gods. 😂
WHAT WAS THE DATE WHEN SEVERAL BIKER WOMAN RODE TO THE TOP OF PIKES PEAK, (EARLY DAYS OF 1930's ? ),SAD YOU LEFT THAT OUT...IT WAS AN IMPORTANT PART OF WOMEN BIKER HISTORY....

THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS NATIVE HISTORY...THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR US ALL TO REMEMBER...☆☆☆
Hiked it , drove it, and now as an old man took the railway- this visitor from NYC is impressed with the beauty of this mountain
Grew up in CS and Pikes Peak was my front yard. It’s a beautiful mountain. Now I’m hearing some idiots want to change the name.

Been to the top of Pikes Peak several times. Great job giving its history. And congrats on 10k!
Thanks! It was exciting to finally pass 10k.
We really enjoyed our time in Colorado. It’s impressive how much history surrounds Pikes Peak.
Pikes Peak is stunning. The pictures don't do it justice: it's massive.

Yes Sir!@@nate649
I see it everyday from my backyard in Elizabeth, Colorado. Beautiful video, you did this amazing mountain justice.
Thank you very much for saying that!
I just moved to Colorado! I love it here! Nice to know some history of that great beauty!

Well done. Thank you.
Born and raised in the springs, I know I home when I see pikes peak.

You are too kind. Thanks for watching!

Glad you enjoyed the video! We’ll keep doing our best. 😄
my 8th grade class liked the part about paved road. The paved roads are so cool!!
I went up to summit today. Made me sick. I still feel bad
I want to know the peaks importance to hosting radio communications.
Very timely

I'm Shocked that the road wasn't paved until only a couple of years ago
Very informative, nice video.
Wish i went there while visiting Denver briefly.
Would've been just a little detour.
Utah & Colorado are awesome.
Thanks !
We agree! Our trip to Colorado was great. Haven’t had a chance to make it to Utah yet, but maybe one day we will. Thanks for watching!
Pikes peak is not in Denver its in Colorado Springs
True.
But it's only a 2 hour drive.
No biggie for Americans and Euros on vacation.
Utah is awesome as well.
Very diverse in landscaping.
Utah & Colorado need more love from foreign travelers.

I enjoy your videos
Thank you so much!
Whats that in meters?
Roughly 4,302 meters.
America the Beautiful was a surprise to me
It was a surprise for us as well! We had no idea about it until we started researching for the video.
Dr Edwin James was def not the first person to reach the summit lol...although he was the first “recorded” one.
No doubt. That's why we made sure to include that keyword. There's no telling how many people climbed the mountain without documenting it. Thanks for commenting!
Blessings to all

🙄
I think the Ute was right
My interest in this location is due to the fact that this place was mentioned as a possible haven to a possible micro nova and it's planetary effects.
Came for photos and views. Mistake.
Got History and education instead. Win!
Nice shirt
Thank you? 😂 It’s just a solid colored shirt.
@@ThatWasHistory...... you asked what I was most surprised by....you should invest in a dress shirt.
You didn’t tell us who the first African American was that summited Pike’s Peak? 🤔🤔🤔
couldn’t even breathe inside
Hill climb race
Is not PIKE PEAK secretly named MONS LEO with It's SPELUNCA?
Most surprising: women's banner
Should be Utes peak.
