What a passive-aggressive gem this song is.
Interesting, how is it passive-aggressive?
I think its the ambiguity of the language, everything is "practically, almost forgiven". The undertone is that some aspect remains unforgiven and certainly not forgotten. Yet the singer carries on with right thoughts, etc. He uses cheerfulness (good morning!) and stoicism as a veneer masking over the problems, talking about the weather and expressing his devotion in hallmark-card-like platitides devoid of any real emotion (wish u were here, weather permitting). The lack of honesty + a stoic adherence to form/structure/appearances ultimately dulls one's capacity for emotion and real human connection. It mocks the socially-sanctioned response which is to just superficially paper over and ignore real problems. That's what I get anyway.

Franz Ferdinand are one of the great bands that really deserve to be in an important event like the Super Bowl halftime show, not Beyonce LMFAO or the Crap Eyed Peas, I have listening to Franz since 2004 when I heard "Take me out" in the Madden NFL 05 soundtrack and "Tell Her Tonight" in the FIFA 05 soundtrack, love them since, guys, you have done it again.
