Thanks for this Matt I’ve always bought pre tied ones as I always struggled to tie the band on, now I have the correct info to do it myself, Best tutorial on UA-cam 👍🏻
An excellent, well made and very informative video. Obviously young Mr West your eyes are working perfectly as you thread micro sleeving and hook to the line with ease, but the reason I and most of my local angling club members buy ready made banded hook lengths is that once you turn say 40 you just cannot see to thread the damn line through the micro sleeving and hook eye, it’s very frustrating. I would love to see DAD West do a similar video to yours, I suspect there would be a lot of cursing and failure. I can see the quality and advantage to your home made banded hook lengths, perhaps you could add these to your internet shop for sale, I am sure there would be a big demand for the product. Keep up the good work, enjoy your videos immensely.
Same here can't see micro tubing. But I've got round it. Just whip as many turns as you need to get to the point you want the hair to exit the hook. Job done. No fiddling threading and works better tbh as it can't slide about like the silicone. As for the eye, korum grappler hooks have a big eye that I can see easier. 👍
Great video. Been tying my own method feeder rigs for years and always battled to get the loop size on the hair right. Your tip to use the pick in the top loop is really helpful. Thanks
Most hook boxes have 1 set of pins longer than the rest, designed for measuring your loops to (usually the outer pins). Also a loop tyer gives perfect loops of an identical length for all you fellow ocd sufferers. Top tips m8, keep em coming
Well done westy,I did have a go shamefully took me 4m 17s but I did have the pressure of my 8yr old in my ear saying I’m crap and not as good as you .great video tho it’s got him trying his own rigs
He seams to have followed it relatively easily,he’s confidence enough to say he can do it because you showed him😂😂😂😂(I have tried a million times mind.not quite going to plan for him yet but he’s not a quitter
Totally agree with you on shop bought mate ... And I will name ... guru ... Tie all my own now ... If I lose a fish through hooklength failure then it's my fault .... Gotta say it's rare though
Another cracking video Matt, recently I’ve been buying ready tied rigs but have been experimenting them failing. Although I’ve got sausage fingers and not much digital dexterity after seeing your video I’m going to have a go at tying my own rigs again. If I keep stabbing my fingers with the hooks I’ll let you know as soon as I can type again 😂😂. Looking forward to the next video.
Great video Westy... After your video mid last year, I changed from shop bought band rigs to guru n gauge line to make my own and not had one snap yet. Largest caught was 18lb... All the best for 2025
I've had same trouble Matt with pretied hooklengths ,had 4 in one day break and lost 4 carp,so I'm tying my own ,got everything except the korum hooks ,which I'll get on your recommendation has I like the idea of the turned out eye ,keep up the vids westy 👍🏻
They always seem to break at the hook or the knot, I know why people buy them, it’s easy and convenient! But it’s a horrible feeling when you lose a fish on them.
Hi Matt, I've made some of my own Method Feeders out of "Shower Gel" caps and "Sweetex" dispensers, using detergent spray bottle tubing for the beads. I'll Email you some Pic's ?
You don't need a case two panel pins in a board work just as well and save you money. I've seen cork boards used with drawing pins. It's worked for me for decades and my teachers before that.

Thanks for commenting carl 👍🏻🎣
@ No problem pal, the method feeder is my favourite way of fishing but I don’t know everything about it so looking forward to this series 👍🏻🎣
One of the easiest video I've seen A1 cheers for show it
Thanks Den! I wasn’t sure if it was too in depth
Absolute cracking video well into detail I watched the last on you made but this one is in more detail now I can tie my own thankyou westy😂
Spot on tutorial. Will get to work on it and hopefully not lose carp in the future on pre-tied ones! Look forward to the next tutorial! 👍

You can use interned eyed hooks
as long as you use shrink tubing.
I use size 10-7 nash pinpoint hooks.i also add a shot on the hook 🪝

I’m actually really pleased it’s given him the confidence to have a bash. Was it easy enough to follow along with ?

😂😂😂 sausage fingers and rig tying don’t mix !
couldn’t of come at a better time, been looking into tying my own as i do t trust the guru pre tied due to
losing a few fish at the net

That’s awesome John ! Nothing worse then losing a fish to bad hooklengths

I’m glad you managed to take something away from the video ! Thanks for watching 👌🏻🎣
Same here Matt, lots of breakages in shop bought hook lengths. Tie my own now, breakages rare!

Hi Matt. Have you tried the guru QM1 hooks for feeder fishing, there my favourite now.
😂 they aren’t for me mate, but my dad uses them 👌🏻🎣
Aye well, us old uns know no good stuff, I’m 75 now and there the best I’ve used.👳🏾♂️😀
@keithhacking77 😂 love that ! Me and papa west have a running joke about them
Great video man , i'm not a beginner but for one i think it is amazing.
Have you considered making like a buget setup video?
That will certainly be part of this series and I have made a lot of previous videos on budget setups and conbos. But never all together 👌🏻
Its always funny how soon as you set a timer the pressure amounts aha but good stuff!
Great video Matt are you going to have your rigs as part of your new venture
@@stephenrobinson-uq5be no matey, too time consuming to tie !

Nobody wants to carry a board with pins in it around fishing old man. Spend a couple of quid and get a rig box for god sake
😂😂😂
I don't have the best eyesight, do you tie feeder rigs to order, or can you recomentd someone who does please?
I think the problem is it’s just too time consuming to tie them up 😞 so it’s not worth the effort for people !
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍👍
Clear line on awhite ba king not so good mate ,just saying
Yes thought that after filming, fixed the issue for the next tutorial
