Sonny Liston didn't have enough experience getting up to know how to fake it.
Sonny Liston was never on drugs
Liston probably was acting, only because he knew he was a defeated man. It's psychology.
Truly, the strongest boxer of all time, but when gangs and criminal activity is involved, a dive or a "loss" is inevitable. Love to sonny and I wish he had a better life.
Song For Sonny Liston is a great song by Mark Knopfler. Good lyrics
Some say Liston was murdered because he was told to throw the Wepner fight
Fights definitely have been fixed and most likely still are. Ppl in charge have a proxy bet for them and tell the fighter to throw the fight. The winner is never told so less ppl know
Liston was from like a dirt poor family in a farm and left really young because his dad beat him. Went to the city and was always in fights because well what a man without even having ability to read does, he got into the crime. Got notoriaty since he was so good at fights but ended up in prison. I think he fought there in a ring, where came even the idea of him becoming a boxer. So he did and became a champ after serving his time, every news-paper wrote how he is a horrible man (he was actually very quiet and shy) and was broken when there was no one waiting for him when he flew to his home city after winning. Then he started to hang our with mobsters and sh!t because well, who else was going to even hang out with him (also "everybody" did from Sinatra to Marilyn so it wasn't like That weard). I think he took the dive more so as screw you why would I care, since people hated him and loved Ali. I don't think he was Forced neccesarily. He died from heroin overdose on a weekend he was alone in his familys house, there is few alternative ideas how it went down but I don't know it would be hard to pin Liston down to overdose him if he isn't tricked or really messed up already.
List on loved a drink probably got him missed first
Liston said Ali was jumping around ,so he fell down so Ali would not hit him.Liston was on his feet fighting when the fight was mistakenly stoped .The ref screwed up,and Sonny was such a suspicous a charector that he was immediately blamed ,when he did nothing wrong .the fighters where up and fighting at the time of the stopage.Sonny got screwed and had like 17 more fights after the Ali vs. Liston fight ,still probably would beet every other heavyweight other than Ali till he died in 1970 ,Fraziers team did not want to fight liston ,whose last fight was with Chuck Wepner in 1970.
Sonny Liston was done bold his entire life. I genuinely feel bad for bruh.
he said he had to shit lmao
That man said he had to boo boo years later. Simple and plain, he didn’t want to get hit and brown his trunks.
Liston had the biggest hands in boxing.. Ham fisted
