Sadly who knows if it was even about money. Some shady individuals could have had something over him. Nothing hurt sports like mass media and entertainment revenues. Which is why olympians get paid very little as compared to those who could earn a small percentage of pay-per view, or with selling merchandise. Athletes became brands, those brands got swallowed by mega corporations.

I suggest to everyone watch a Sonny Liston documentary. His life was insane. He was literally dirt poor one of 20 kids or something. They had to work on their farm in bare feet. When he achieved boxing success it was in the Jim crow era. A lot of people hated him. The cops put him in jail whenever they could... The man lived an unspeakably tough life

Sonny was literally doing hard labor since he was a child barefoot on a farm to a very aggressive and abusive drunk father who was beating his ass on a daily basis. The saddest thing I remember hearing about Sonny Liston's life was that he basically spent his life trying to earn people's respect, saying as being tough normally earned people's respect. When still nobody gave him respect he thought that becoming the champ would do it. When he won the title and returned to home on his plane, normally a champion would be greatest by a huge roaring crowd waiting to meet him. For Sonny, nobody showed up. That apparently crushed him, and made him resentful of pretty much everybody except his close friends, family and small children who have no malice in their hearts.

Liston had one for the toughest chins ever at the time (probably nowadays too) so if you're telling me Ali knocked out Liston with a jab but nobody else could knock him out with their most powerful punches on the button. Then you obviously don't know about boxing. The punches you're talking about that people don't see coming are those power punches that usually a boxer could take if they get ready for them but they can't take, if they get caught with off guard. Liston saw that jab. Watch the video. You're whole argument is flawed.

Liston obviously stepped into Ali's counter punch, which can practically double the impact of any punch, especially considering both of their sizes.
Anderson Silva flat out K.O'd Forrest Griffin in nearly the same way.
If Liston did throw that fight, at least at that point, it's 'cos he knew he couldn't win it.
Ali's speed and countering ability, especially at that time, is still very underrated.
I'm not calling if he threw the fight for sure either way, but I do believe that short counter from Ali/Clay dropped him for real.

But during the knock down Ferdie Pacheco said he heard Ali screaming at liston to "get up fool nobody's going to believe this". From what I think, liston didn't want to go through what he did the first fight, so first semi decent shot he went down.

Liston was from like a dirt poor family in a farm and left really young because his dad beat him. Went to the city and was always in fights because well what a man without even having ability to read does, he got into the crime. Got notoriaty since he was so good at fights but ended up in prison. I think he fought there in a ring, where came even the idea of him becoming a boxer. So he did and became a champ after serving his time, every news-paper wrote how he is a horrible man (he was actually very quiet and shy) and was broken when there was no one waiting for him when he flew to his home city after winning. Then he started to hang our with mobsters and sh!t because well, who else was going to even hang out with him (also "everybody" did from Sinatra to Marilyn so it wasn't like That weard). I think he took the dive more so as screw you why would I care, since people hated him and loved Ali. I don't think he was Forced neccesarily. He died from heroin overdose on a weekend he was alone in his familys house, there is few alternative ideas how it went down but I don't know it would be hard to pin Liston down to overdose him if he isn't tricked or really messed up already.
