Neo Contra certainly didn't take itself as seriously as the one before this one.
Shattered Soldier feels super edgy. Lots of angst in that Bill Rizer

Precisely, and yeah, lmao. They're literally running on top of the helicopter blades and SOMEHOW manage to stay on even after the helicopter does a freaking barrel roll. It's amazingly bad ass. @@MegaYoYo
It's crazy to me how a PS2 game looks way better than Contra Rogue Corps on Switch.

That weapon set is so broken. I love it!
The ripple seems alright and so does the launcher but damn does that laser rip through stuff. It's hard to hit precise points and small enemies with it

the only sureal of this contra, is not the history, or the enemies, even the bosses, its the fact you run over the helicopter blade, and even, roll over that

this game was so nonsensical yet so enjoyable. even the cheesy opening song. The PS2 era was a time of creativity and experimentation before all the games became walking simulators clones with the same 3rd person shooter elements and weird ass ugly faces.
This is something that I miss from that generation. We got IP's such as Godhand, katamari damacy, Neo Contra, ect. It was a beautiful time to wonder. I sound old but those days were better

I’ve only ever played Contra III and Hard Corps Uprising, and I had to watch this. It’s so impressively cheesy. How did I never play this? I would have adored it.

Operation Galuga is a lot of fun! It does not match the wackines of Shattered Soldier and Neo Contra though

These are some very interesting boss designs. It's rather impressive how some of the earlier bosses seem to foreshadow the final boss. It's funny how silly things get occasionally though. XD
The sillines is the best part. Animal Contra is just straight up a dog. With some animal puns included
@@MegaYoYoAnimal Contra I can understand, maybe even anticipate. Hyper agitated running because you're doing so _atop of the blades of an active helicopter_ less so. But the surprise keeps things fresh.
Shattered Soldier will always be number one to me.

Played this game as a teen & tried to beat it with Gameshark but couldn't beat Shin Master Contra. That means I'd never beaten the game & could never beat the game with a 100% either.
It’s va a tough game. Some weapon sets make sections trivial. I think it’s one of the easiest Contras out there
@@MegaYoYo Maybe to you but I always Consider Contra to be Hard whatever it is. I'd always loved the Contra: Hard Corps game on the Sega Genesis. It was awesome back in the day but this new Contra that I've seen in the demos looks interesting but not sure if I should get it. It will be the 1st Contra I've played without a cheat device.

@@MegaYoYo not interested in the demo but do know if I play Easy mode, then I will not get the best Ending. Besides will get the game when I have the time. Will be busy playing WWE 2K24 instead.
Managed to beat and unlock everything on S-rank back then, after playing it RELIGIOUSLY. It was tough as Hell but I stuck with it. Unlocked the samurai dude's firesword which basically one-shots most of the bosses, that much I remember.

Shame how easy some of the bosses are.
Then again some of the spectacles are hilarious XD
That weapon set is pretty good though. Some are quite ez though. The challenge comes from breaking them down to get 100%
@@MegaYoYo Oh yeah they look like some of the most effective weapons in the series, just disappointed that half the bosses are so slow or so fragile (except for the galaga & gradius clones) that they only get one or two attacks before your victory. Such a waste to see such detailed designs so briefly.

I never realised just how batshit this series was until I saw the assault VTOL at 21:27 being fought while tapdancing on top of a helicopter's primary rotor.

Aliens' backstory was revealed in the previous game, "Contra: the Shattered Soldier" ("Shin Contra" in Japan). Contra aliens are a biologic weapon of some super-advanced alien race. Their creators abandoned our dimension long ago but left some powerful artefact on Jupiter. "Weapon" aliens were left as an anti-theft system for it. And human still stole it, making aliens angry...😂
In the "C:tSS" game world was ruled by the evil Triumvirate, who wanted to use the Artefact for their own purposes. They finally did it, but all three merged into one metamorphous deity as a result. This deity is a true final boss of "Shattered Soldier". Or bossES, as it has many forms and must be defeated multiple times.
In other words, monsters are nearly innocent in the original story. As well as many humans who died, they are victims of 3 old farts who wanted super power. And exactly in this game they still are a biological weapon, but now used by Master Contra (evil clone of Bill Rizer and final boss).
Who would actually hand load all those round?
