I have to do the same to 1971 . I wish that they would sale half the of the luggage metal, my firewall is really good, but you have to purchase the whole thing to use only parts of it
Hey, I have a friend with a rusted bottom tray area, there are some holes. He bought the bottom section from wolfsburg west, without the firewall section. His plan is to weld in the new piece on top of the original rusted-out one. What are the cons of doing it this way, compared to cutting it out?

Would definitely be easier if they sold partial like they do the floor pans.
Yeah, I have a 1971 that someone painted and the body works was great until I noticed the poor jobs they did in the luggage shelf

It's going to continue to rest I would butt weld it get rid of all the bad material and get new material
