Finally making over my bedroom on a budget | Farrow & Ball India Yellow | Home Takes Time S2 E6

Welcome back to another home makeover video. In this video, I share how I transformed our bedroom from cold and impersonal to warm and cosy - on a budget! Even though I would have loved to update the space with a new rug, light, bed frame and curtains, I challenged myself to work with what we already have and see if painting the walls (and ceiling) would be enough to refresh the space. Despite experiencing some major challenges with the paint, I was able to resolve it with help from my local paint store and we are thrilled with the end result.

I can't help but noticed your before-and-after is actually the polar opposite of my own current room decor situation 😂 I'm itching to get rid of yellow and go with white or neutral greys 😂😂 Life is funny that way.

Aww, thank you so much for your comment! That's so funny that you're switching places with me! 😂 My last two apartments were stark white, so I think I was craving lots and lots of colour when we moved into this home. We don't get a lot of natural light, so I figured I might as well lean into it. I love the feeling of a bright, white room as well, though. It can feel so refreshing and light. Knowing me, I'll probably wake up one day and decide to repaint the entire place white. Regarding my being too stubborn to replace our furniture - my indecision played a big role here. I've been known to tire of things really quickly, which is why I usually choose plain / classic-looking furniture even if they're slightly boring.
I love the color. U always pick the most beautiful colors. (I love colored walls too) Ur room looks so cozy & beautiful. 🥰🐩🐩🐩
Thank you so much for your kind words! 🥰 It took me over a year to decide on colours for each space and once I decided, I bought the paint colours before I could change my mind. Maybe a risky decision, but indecision is one of my worst enemies! Thankfully, I’m loving each space so far! 🥹 What are some colours you’ve used in your home? 🎨
@@LittleCocoStudio thats a good way to do it is give it lots of thought. Its hard work to paint a room by urself. U do a great job. I love same colors as u. I have blue, yellow, orange, green. The orange is not bright & in a laundry room. Blue is my favorite color, so mostly different shades of blue, but make sure that all colors flow together. All of ur colors compliment & flow beautifully. I also love wallpaper. I love vintage things & colors. They make my heart smile.
@@terridelamar6995 that sounds lovely! I’m a big fan of wallpaper, too. If my budget would allow it, I’d have wallpaper everywhere! 🥹
I think you need to use a primer before you use farrow and ball
Yes, I think you’re right! I used a primer before adding F&B, but it was from a different brand (Benjamin Moore tinted with India Yellow). Not sure if that made a difference, although I’ve used a BM tinted primer in other areas before using F&B and hadn’t had as many issues with even coverage as I did with this room!
