That is a great camp recipe sir and uses simple ingredients that are easy to pack. I love a good shepard's pie so I know this would be good. I also like that Bear Creek Chili. Nothing like a spicy hearty meal to warm you up from the inside out on a cold day! If it was a perfect world, I would head out to the woods to make this for lunch today!!
thanks brother.. it makes a good warm filling meal..thats quick and easy and very little fuel..plus in a up coming video i will be making chilli mack with it..another quick canteen cup meal
I don't know how you come up with these but that's great! It's not just the recipe, the cooking technique is ingenious. I carried that gear a lot and never saw anything that creative. Great video and content. Thanks
Nice tip Blackie , I will remember this on my next camping trip. Looks simple to make and not a lot of weight in your pack. Glad all is well for you after those storms.
An up date on this Darn Good Chili... I bought some and we made it this evening according to the package directions... To be honest, it was good, I wouldn't say darn good but it was passable good , but now if you're expecting a Mexican spicy kick you'll be disappointed, its very mild bordering on bland with a hint of sweet. I had to add some "Tony Chachere's bold" to it to waken it up some. but if you're a fan of five way chili you'll be part way there you have the chili and the beans just add spaghetti , diced onion, and cheddar cheese and you're home
Excellent video blackie. Just a thought why don't you try a bit of dehydrated mincemeat. You're measurement are like baker's measurement. Always use the maybe method 😉.
looked good Blackie bet it would be even better with a dollop of tomato paste and some ground beef (or a stick or two of beef jerky diced up) mixed in... keep em coming
i have grilled onions.. peppers ect and added.. boiled and or sweated with butter or oil wild plants like woodsorrel..or green briar shoots..and add to chilli the only limit is what ya got in hand and how much effort ya wanna make
Fall must be coming up as this popped up in my feed. You might have to show this one to James Bender when you do the Silver Wolves in October. Might be a good supper one night.
Really enjoy your videos Blackie! Have been watching them for years now. This reminded me of my time crossing the states doing the Pacific Crest Trail..missing those instant potatoes! Will you do any more videos on the WCSK? All the best from Down Under, cheers mate. Liam.
more like 15 min..it took me longer than usual since i was talking and filming..usually i set everything up..boil the water..add chilli.. put in cozy cover..bring water back to boil and wait 5 min then add taters.. then dump chilli add topping lid on back in cover..total time like 15 min
How you did not set yourself on fire reaching across that stove I will never know. All I can think of is you are another one that is not big into nylon or synthetic outer wear !
I love the old GI canteen cups. Mine is stamped 1965.
Great video! Love the Pioneer coat! As an Iowa farm kid, I didn't know clothes came in a color other than green for many years!
Very good idea, Thank you very much

All the VERY BEST!
Like the idea of separating the ingredients into zip lock bags, something I can do at home. Then elastic band the bags together for individual meals.
I can't believe these videos don't have more views and comments. Thank you.
Very Nice. Looks yummy, Very clever Idea. Thanks for sharing
Good simple recipe!!!!
Good to see you made it through the storms. Placed the chili on my grocery list. Seems like a great item to have in the event SHTF and get home bags.
Best way to start the day with a Blackie cooking video!
That is a great filling meal that doesn't break the bank! Probably better than a comparable mountainhouse meal too.
I ditched mountain house long ago for grocery store ideas like this.. Way cheaper than mtn house
Nice tip Blackie , I will remember this on my next camping trip. Looks simple to make and not a lot of weight in your pack. Glad all is well for you after those storms.
